About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 1 Bath, Sleeps 6 maximum.

Check out the new lakefront excavation project that improves safety and erosion control. Come enjoy a beautiful mountain cabin on Lake Wallenpaupack. Variable nightly rates with special discount to our premier returning visitors. See notes in Rate Section.

Lakefront cabin on Lake Wallenpaupak in the private community of Sunny Point. Our lakefront vacation cabin commands one of the best locations on the lake. The cabin is a perfect get-a-way in any season. Two large picture windows facing eastward provide an unobstructed lake view. Stroll down a gentle sloping flat stone pathway to the lakeside patio for morning coffee and a beautiful sunrise. When evening rolls around take in the awesome glow of a moon rising above the mountains with your favorite beverage. Schmann's Nature Reserve directly across the cove restricts development meaning an uninhabited, wooded shoreline to mountaintop. Good hiking there too!

So that maximum pleasure is enjoyed, during the summer season 6 to 7 night minimum stay is preferred.

Enjoy swimming, fishing, boating, sailing from our private dock or enjoy the warmth of the summer sun by just sunbathing! Fall foliage is alive with fantastic blends of red, gold, yellow, brown leaves you can view right from the cabin. In winter, snuggle up to the full stone fireplace after a day of ice fishing or snowmobiling. No need to go anywhere, just enjoy being at the lake.

This home is family inherited from my parents Audrey and Bernie (AuBern) and great for families with children and pets. Yes, we are pet friendly! Cabin features two bedrooms with queen beds and a large loft for the kids. The loft has two single beds. Six people can sleep comfortably between both downstairs and loft.

Improvements continue! A 2016 shoreline excavation project repaired the lakeside patio, created a built in fireplace, built 5 inch high steps from Pennsylvania blue stone with hand railing. and flat stone pathway to the cabin.

A new stair case was installed from the first floor to the basement. Accessing the washer/dryer is so much easier without needing to go outside!

A custom bathroom is all rage! Cement trough sink with pour faucet, Italian floor tiles, corian tub surround, and updgraded eco-toilet.

A large area wood deck spans the entire frontside of the cabin. Bar-b-ques, picnics and general entertaining are ideal for guests and friends.

You can tell we love our cabin and know you will too!

About Rick

This is a family heritage cabin acquired in 1964 and it has been THE vacation spot for us and friends. We live in Hawaii and return several times a year to enjoy 'the serenity of a clear blue mountain lake' and change of seasons.

Rick purchased this cabin in 1964

Why Rick chose Pennsylvania

Our cabin has been in the family for over five decades. We love the wooded shoreline of the lake. Close to Scranton-Wilkes Barre, New York City, Newark International Airport. The quaint town of Hawley is less than five miles away. The area is a good location for antique shopping, fall foliage viewing, summer fun.

What makes this cabin unique

Lake Wallenpaupack is notable for fishing, hunting, and most all water sports. We enjoy our private dock for swimming, boating, and skipping rocks. You can row across the cove to the Schmann's Nature Reserve to hike along the trails. Or boat over to Epply Island for a picnic lunch and exploring. In the fall, the mountainside explode with color!

Relax and Enjoy!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderfully well equipped and clean rental on beautiful lake Wallenpaupack. Updated dock and added fire patio area by the lake were pluses. Linens and all needed bath and beach towels provided save on a lot of packing. Your neighbors are close so don't expected a secluded setting. Weekends are very busy but during the week there is peace and quiet and the lake is less busy. We hope to return next year!

Quiet, Relaxing Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The house is super cozy and exactly what you need if you're looking for a quick, quiet getaway. We went during the off season so it was great to be able to sit out by the lake with a glass of wine and the fire going with no one around to disturb you. The house was clean and exactly what we were expecting. They allow dogs which was why we decided on this house. Little did we know, the house is a two minute drive away from a hiking trail! The dogs absolutely loved it! Couldn't have asked for a better weekend at Lake Wallenpaupack!

Great lake house!!

  • 5 of 5

House is extremely well appointed, has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The dock is great and there is a great lakeside fire pit. There was even a boat that we could use. The location is great. Dealing with Rick before, during and after was incredibly easy with very quick replies to any questions!

Wonderful family time

  • 5 of 5

Spent a few days at Rick's cabin last week. My wife, daughter, son in law and myself had a tremendous time. The cabin was equipped with everything you need, in fact I commented to the family that I don't think we've ever rented a place where someone has thought of everything.

The lake was steps from the cabin and even though ours was a winter break, I can only imagine it must be stunning in the spring, summer or fall.

The fireplace was so welcoming, and we had great fun playing the many board games.

Wifi was great, TV functioned well.

The cabin was clean and ready for our arrival.

Bathroom was updated and family room furniture comfortable.

Beds were great and plenty of room for a big group to stay, bear in mind though there's only one bathroom if there's lots of people.

We'd recommend this cabin and by the way Rick was also very welcoming allowing our dog to stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Jeff! It's always good to know that folks enjoyed the cabin. AuBern House has everything needed for a hassle free vacation, from the kitchen pantry to bedsheets. Recently our shoreline has undergone a major excavation project that improved accessibility to the lakefront and dock. A new firepit was built and better than ever! And a Pennsylvania Blue Stone pathway replaced loose gravel from the cabin to the lake. Two new queen mattresses with spinal support frames were acquired in October. And it's always a family affair at the AuBern House when pets are welcomed. The AuBern House is truly a place that does not compromise on anything.

Wonderful Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from a week's stay at the Aubern House and we can't wait to go back next year! The house was impeccably clean on arrival and we found it to be most charming. 2 beautiful picture windows in the living room and the dining room allowed us to see the beautiful view of Lake Wallenpaupak at all times. The kitchen had everything one could possibly need to prepare meals of all kinds. Our dog, Joanie, had a great time as well. The communication between Ric and ourselves was very prompt and he was most friendly and attentive. Rick thank you for allowing us to share in the beauty of your family's house. It was so great to get back to nature and renew our spirits! Sincerely, Cathy, David and Joanie

Owner's Response: Thank you for the wonderful words about our cabin! We strive to make each family feel at home as we would want it. So glad you may be coming back next year. Because we value our return visitors, rates for 2017 will be fixed at 2016 rates and there is no pet deposit required. This discount is only for return renters in good standing. This also means return visitors can book now for the week they want rather than waiting for January when 2017 prices are published.
