Casa de los Jardines, is tucked across the river to the south of Tercer de Mundo. if you are walking it is a left at the Soccer Field(heading from the hiway to the beach) then you go over the river on the foot bridge after two blocks then you are on Primavera, go a 1/2 block and turn right at Indonesia, we are the second house on the right. If you are driving coming from Puerto Villarta, you go down to San Pancho's exit, but, circle back south and go to the first right hand turn. Turning left on a two lane in Mex. is a no no too dangerous, so then you are on Primavera on the other end of the one block long street. you go to Indonesia turn left and it is the second house on the right. Two story Brick, upstairs windows are arched. the house has a new separate two bed room apartment above a gracious home. Full kitchen set up for cooking the tasty meals you want to prepare. Nice balcony to enjoy your coffee and watch the sun rising over the mountain. The apartment has one bathroom with a deep tile bathtub to soak in after a hike or long day at the beach. Refreshing ocean breezes and fans keep the apartment a comfortable temperature. The quiet neighborhood is 6 blocks from the ocean and a little off the beaten track. There are friendly Mexican, American and Canadian neighbors. Casa de los Jardines is near Arroyo los Izotes River, the jungle and bordered by San Pancho Resort and Cultural Center. The river and jungle provide perfect habit for many varieties of birds that can be watched from the 2nd floor balcony. The large walled in lot with a locked gate provides privacy and a cozy safe feeling. Casa de los Jardines means home of gardens. There is a productive organic vegetable garden with greens almost always available. You will enjoy the gorgeous Ylang Ylang tree and many interesting native plants of Mexico. The apartment is very quiet with no sounds traveling between floors. The owners live downstairs and one is a retired chef who is available to prepare some meals with a local flair. A suggested menu and price list will be provided. WiFi available.

A 3 block walk brings you to downtown where you will find shops, groceries, internet cafes and good restaurants. Continue walking a few more block and you are at the beach. For more adventure, Sayulita is only a 10 minute drive and Puerto Vallarta is a 45 minute drive.

About Pat McMahon

We are Randy and Pat, retired building contractors now busy with art and weaving. We enjoy gardening and nature. Most mornings we can be found tending our organic garden. Most evenings we can be found at the beach watching a beautiful sunset. We enjoy meeting new people and balance that with respect for their privacy. We love the integrated Mexican and Expat community of San Pancho. We live here from October through mid- May. In the summer we live in La Veta Colorado, a small mountain village in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. But, we continue to Rent during the winter with our lovely caretaker Managing the property

Pat McMahon purchased this apartment in 2007

Why Pat McMahon chose Nayarit

We love the people here and the beach. San Pancho is a sweet little town built up around fishing.

What makes this apartment unique

We get to watch birds, see the jungle and enjoy beautiful clouds at sun set. We enjoy the quiet in the garden we've created.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We received the sweetest email from Paul and Sharon after their stay in our apartment in San Pancho...they appreciated our garden and breezes through all the windows and views of the Jungle...they seemed to really enjoy the space. We love guests like them. Pati and Randy

Great spot, great hosts, great neighbors!

  • 5 of 5

We found that Casa de los Jardines reflected the hospitality and laid-back atmosphere of San Pancho itself. Our hosts, Pati and Randy, were always available to answer questions and offer help about getting around the area and suggesting interesting things to see and do. The ocean breezes wafted through the upstairs apartment windows providing great sleeps on the ever-so-comfortable beds. While only a 10-minute walk from the bustling beach and tourist area, Casa de los Jardines is located far enough away to provide a tranquil tropical retreat in which we enjoyed preparing simple meals in the adequately appointed kitchen. Our month-long stay in this reasonably-priced apartment was wonderful and a welcome little bit of heaven away from the ice and snow of Ontario winter.

Wonderful small town getaway

  • 5 of 5

Casa de los Jardines in San Francisco (San Pancho), Nayarit, Mexico, was the exact vacation my family was looking for over the Easter holiday.

We were warned that it would be busy over the holidays but the town's charm wasn't diminished by its popularity as it was mainly other Mexicans staying there, not a lot of foreign tourists and the busyness that follows that demographic.

The apartment is a little tricky to find at first if you've never been to the area and aren't familiar with the highway. We took a bus from PVR to Sayulita and then a cab to get to the home. Our Spanish is non-existent so giving directions was challenging but we got there. After that, it was fairly straightforward taking the bus from San Pancho to other towns between there and PVR.

The apartment itself was clean and stocked with everything you would need to stay there (bring your own beach gear - towels/blankets/mats or buy them from a vendor closer to the beach). The fans in every room were a blessing for the really warm days and nights. If you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs. The home is away from the center of the town and highway so you don't hear traffic or people as much as you do hear wildlife, birds, roosters, chickens. Because you'll likely leave the windows open, you will hear your neighbours and any sounds they make.

Communicating with the host, Pat, prior to our stay was a breeze. She's prompt and super helpful and we felt prepared for our first Mexico vacation. As everything was provided, once we were greeted by the caretaker, Huitzi, upon our arrival, we didn't need to bother her or contact Pat with any questions/concerns.

I would highly recommend visiting San Pancho and staying at Casa de los Jardines. We can't wait to return.

Wonderful hosts for an amazing town!

  • 5 of 5

Pat and Ralph are great! Pati made sure all of our questions were quickly answered before arriving. When we did arrive they took time to give us a tour of the property and answer any questions that we had. They are both very in touch with this amazing community of San Pancho and told us about amazing local art events, plays, hikes, restaurants, and just an overall update of goings on about the town. The 2nd floor apartment is spectacular! Beautiful wood and brick walls, tons of windows that open to allow for a cool breeze. Beds and pillows are very comfortable. Linens and towels are fresh and in new condition. Bathroom and shower are excellent. Property is well maintained and quiet. A short walk to the main street, which takes you to the beach, restaurants the community center. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting San Pancho or the surrounding area. Thank you Pati and Ralph for helping with our unforgettable 1st visit to San Pancho we will definitely be back!!!

Charming, airy apartment

  • 3 of 5

We found the apartment well finished, tile and wood, with screened windows all around that we could leave open all night for a fabulous sleep. The propane cooktop was adequate and worked well - no leak, you just have to be used to using propane. The new toaster oven completes the kitchen. Also, the addition of a good shower in the bathtub is great. And everything worked well! We didnt see the garden at its best, but the next tenants will see the beautiful paved walkway that was being constructed. Walk to beach 15 mins at a stroll. Usual noises of Mexico soon become normal. Thankyou Pati and Randy.

Casa de los Jardines, San Pancho, Mexico

  • 2 of 5

Very small apartment, owners live down stairs, so no privacy (we were afraid to make too much noise), felt more relaxed when we left the apartment, issue with using too much water, butane tank used for cooking has small leak so we were afraid to use it, had to eat out 3X every day, too far from town, not worth the $$'s. Maybe $45.00/night would be OK.

Owner's Response: We went out of our way to make these two first time travelers to Mexico comfortable here. We even picked them up at the airport to help ease them into a new Culture. We are ever so disappointed that they did not enjoy their stay. Pati
