We have been enjoying the River since were were teenagers , and now make it our primary residence. We enjoy entertaining our friends and showing new visitors the islands. We hope you can join us on our veranda for welcoming cocktails.
Martin Yenawine purchased this cottage in 1997
One of the best locations for swimming and seeing the ships past by on the Americvan narrows.
What else can I say other than what other 5-star raters have said. It is all true with so much more *** AMAZING Owners & Property. My family is from the "River" and I have always considered myself a St. Lawrence River Kid even at age 57, so getting back if only for a week is really special to me and my wife. It felt just like family when we first met Linda & Marty this week. We have been here not even 3 whole days yet and we decided we are coming back same time next year. After this week I would definitely consider this our second home for our future vacations if they will have us. Thanks again Linda & Marty for everything, We Love You Guys, Dan and Donna King
Four of us spent a splendid week at Elderberry Cottage in August. My husband and I previously owned a cottage on Wellesley Island and know the area very well while our friends were first-timers. Linda and Marty are the ideal hosts--they are right there if you need anything but absolutely respectful of your privacy. The cottage is very well equipped, especially in the kitchen, where all the basics are there to enable you to cook in as much as you like without spending a lot for condiments and flour for example. We especially appreciated the kayaks, swimming in the protected cove, the barbecue, and perhaps most of all, seeing the huge freighters coming and going close enough to clearly see the seamen aboard. The region is one of the truly unique places left in the US, unspoiled by the sameness so typical of most vacation places, with plenty to do and one couldn't make a better choice than this to enjoy it. Be sure to visit the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton.
Our vacation at Elderberry Cottage was relaxing, restorative and beautiful. I was in a party of six, myself, my husband and our children aged 6, 8, 9 and 10. Each of us was taken with the house and grounds and enjoyed the amenities provided by our gracious hosts. We spent lots of time enjoying the natural setting, kayaking the inlet, fishing galore and hanging out in hammocks or by the fire pit. The location is close to many of the area attractions with convenient access to Boldt castle and gorgeous state parks. The kitchen is well appointed and the grocery is not far at all. In fact, it is amazing how close things are because when you are on Wellesley Island, you feel far from all of the trappings of modern times. The owners were nearby if needed and helpful and even went so far as to provide passes to the Boat Museum, hints, directions and even a lesson on how to filet a fish. The cottage and grounds are immaculately kept with lots to offer in the way of down-home entertainment. You could have a great time without ever leaving the property. This vacation ranks at the top of our "favorites list" and we look forward to revisiting again in the future. That says a lot considering that pleasing six distinct personalities is no small feat!
We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Elderberry Cottage and it is difficult to know where to start. Everything about this rental is exactly as described -- only better than you imagined it might be. We would agree with everything that has already been written in the other reviews. In the interest of brevity, we'll focus on three things.
The first is the location. Situated on a tiny island adjacent to Wellesley Island, this cottage feels private and secluded while, at the same time, placing you in the very heart of the Thousand Islands area. As advertised, you really are on Millionaire's Row. (We took one of the commercial boat tours out of nearby Alexandria Bay, and as it finished its pass down Millionaire's Row and turned to continue the tour, we were amused to look over our shoulders and see the front door of our cottage a hundred yards or so from the boat!) This is the perfect location from which to explore the entire area. I-81 is only a few minutes drive up the island, giving easy access to shopping, restaurants, and all of the nearby attractions.
One thing that may not come across from the description is how idyllic the site is. The grounds are beautifully tended and offer numerous spots to gather and sit and enjoy the trees, the bird calls, and the water or, if you are just in the mood for solitude, places to enjoy the peace and quiet and read a book or watch the ships go by. We filled our time with sight-seeing with our two teenage boys, but I am already looking forward to coming back here just to enjoy some quiet relaxation.
What really made our visit special, however, was the warmth and generosity of the owners, Martin and Linda. You can tell that they love living here and love sharing this place with friends, family, and guests. We were greeted warmly on arrival and they were kind enough to take time out of a busy day to give us a private boat tour of the river and nearby islands. Although the arrangements were perfect and we needed nothing extra during our stay, we are sure that they would have gone to great lengths to accommodate us, while at the same time being very respectful of our privacy. We enjoyed chatting with them on several occasions. One of the things to which we will most look forward when we return will be renewing our acquaintance with them.
This was a wonderful property, and the owners were so generous and welcoming! So much so, that they even gave my nephew a ride on their wave runner.
The home had a rustic feel, yet it had nice modern amenities and anything you could possibly need or want in a rental property. The scenery and location is unmatched and I would definitely rent this property again. It was perfect for a family vacation, a romantic getaway one or simply a place to relax, unwind and enjoy the beautiful view of the St. Lawrence river.
A+ accommodations, A++ property managers.
Thank you again Linda & Martin
This is without doubt the best rental property in the Thousand Islands. The location is perfect to explore the area by car or by boat. It is rare to have such a great location and feel like you are really experiencing island life, yet be able to come and go by car. The property is beautiful and you can tell the owners put their heart and soul into every detail. The cottage is so comfortable and to say well appointed is an understatement. The kitchen even has a coffee grinder and a hand blender! We have two you children and they absolutely loved the grounds and water. There were several areas for them to enter the water safely and thought the water was a little "brisk" this year they had a ball. The best part of renting the property is meeting Marty and Linda. They are amazing people and go above and beyond to make your stay as wonderful as possible. We loved every moment of our vacation on Seven Isles and that was is large part due to their incredible hospitality. It was without doubt the best vacation our family has ever had. Thank you Marty and Linda!
