Dottie and myself are semi retired. She was a professional educator and I was a tropical timber and wood products importer. She now spends much of her time with our two grandsons and I work as a real estate broker.
Craig & Dottie Walton purchased this house in 1980
This was our home for over 30 years and we love it. We are somewhat rural with plenty of privacy but yet with easy access to everything you could ask for within a 1/2 hour drive. We can walk out the backdoor into the woods and walk for a day and never see anyone else or look out the window and see a flock of turkeys or deer crossing the yard.
Other than we love the changing seasons and opportunities that go along with them, the location is perfect as it is about 1/2 way between the Mass Museum of Contemporary Arts (MASSMOCA) and Tanglewood, summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. There are plenty of activities for every season including museums, concerts, theater, cross county and downhill skiing, swimming, boating, hiking, golf, just a great place to unwind and relax.
We loved staying here. The house is nice and spacious with room for everyone to spread out. There were 4 adults and 2 little kids.
Craig was super friendly, sharing recommendations and making sure we were nicely taken care of. The property is large and one can ramble for a while in the greenery. And it's very nicely situated with access to Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow and the Norman Rockwell museum, all 20 minutes or less away.
We will definitely return.
All the above activities are between 5 minutes and 30 minutes away plus many more within 45 minutes. Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival is 15 minutes, Tanglewood about 25 minutes, Several ski areas and golf courses within 1/2 hour...the list goes on.

For summer fun, the Center Pond public beach is about 4 miles away with a lovely picnic area. Also, about a mile from the house is the headwaters of the Westfield river w/ cold, clear water for great fishing, swimming and picnics.
Just 3 miles from the house is Canterbury Farm Ski Touring Center with 22 kilometers of groomed and tracked ski trails alongside beautiful brooks, beaver ponds, stone walls, lakes, fields and mountains where nature abounds. Trails meander through old wood stands, which gives the feel of being in the wilderness. Other trails are wider for excellent ski skating.
