Overview

About the property

A lovely 5 bedroom home in a fishing village nestled at the tip of Cape St Mary and surrounded by the Bay of Fundy and St Mary's Bay. The house is warm, light, charmingly furnished and has all amenities. The five bedrooms look out on a panoramic view of the rugged Evangeline Coast, a small boat-building shop, the lobster wharf and a nearby lighthouse on top of beautiful cliffs. Mavillette Beach is only a few hundred meters away and has a mile of unspoiled sand beach and dunes; it is considered the finest beach on the Western side of Nova Scotia. There is a dramatic 30 foot (10 meter) tide rising and falling every 6 hours and the docks are hinged so boats can float up and down with the tide. We have seen a whale swimming a few hundred meters from the house at high tide and five hours later our son and his dog were running on the hard-packed sand right where the whale had been swimming a few hours before. There is Fool's gold in the cliffs behind the beach, strawberry and blueberry bushes throughout the meadows, great scrambling and the occasional seal on the rocks at the end of the Point. People fish off the wharf and kids love to watch boats unloading, especially during the week of the "Shark Scramble". We have a cabin on a fresh water lake about 10 minutes from the Cape. There is an outdoor fireplace there and woods to explore. Beaver, porcupine, and carnivorous plants can all be found along the lake and the birding is excellent.$1,200/wk June-August; $900/wk off seasonTennis courts and a golf course are about 20-30 minutes away. Meteghan has a large fishing fleet, fresh fish and lobsters, a supermarket, a farmerâ??s market, and a hardware store. Behind Meteghan River is a working saw mill that is started up once a week. Yarmouth has a couple of fine restaurants and a mall, movies and an old historic downtown. The â??Worldâ??s Smallest Drawbridgeâ? is found in Sandford outside of Yarmouth. Whale and puffin watching boats go out from the town of Digby, â??the Scallop Capitol of the Worldâ? and again, there are some very fine restaurants here. Historic Annapolis Royale, the wild Kejimkujik National Park and the Annapolis Valley are all about an hour beyond Digby.
