Beachfront villa with lush, private grounds and every amenity located on a magnificent undiscovered beach on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, midway between Jaco and Manuel Antonio. You'll feel as if you're in your own private resort as you experience all the home has to offer. Traditional Spanish hacienda styling combines with tropical flair to create a welcoming retreat you'll never want to leave.
Three generously sized and well-appointed bedrooms plus three full baths provide ample room to sleep up to 10 people, where the sounds of surf will lull you to sleep each night. The three bedrooms feature one king bed, one queen, and two doubles, plus a pull out sofa in the living room, providing plenty of privacy for everybody. The bathrooms feature large, walk-in showers. One bathroom includes an open air double shower where bougainvillea cascades over the wall to greet you.
Kitchen, Dining & Living Rooms, Pool Area, Grounds: The gourmet kitchen, outfitted by a 'foodie', and furnished with brand new stainless steel appliances, provides plenty of space to create your own culinary masterpieces. Extensive collection of dishware, serveware, flatware and linens. The large living room provides a generous space to relax for everyone. Handmade custom hardwood furnishings throughout the house, including a solid teak table and chairs that seat ten in the dining room.
Relax beside the private lap pool with a good book, nap under palm trees in a hammock, enjoy sunsets or an early morning walk on the 4 mile beach just outside the door. A rancho, the covered bar and barbeque area by the pool, provides ample outdoor entertaining space. Outdoor fountains at the entry and by the pool add to the atmosphere. Another rancho by the beach completes the picture.
Nearly two acres of manicured and lushly landscaped grounds overflow with gorgeous tropical plantings, orchids and palm trees to provide you with a serene and private getaway.
Adventures Await You: Numerous adventures await you close by. Beach activities include surfing, swimming, body surfing, boogie boarding, fishing and shelling. Nearby are zip-lining, sportfishing, golf, kayaking, diving, snorkeling, tennis, boating, horseback riding, canyoning, and hiking.
View the abundant wildlife Costa Rica has to offer. Flocks of pelicans soar on the breezes overhead. Parrots chatter as they dart through and feast on fruit each morning. Butterflies and hummingbirds are frequent visitors and the grounds are landscaped with plantings designed to attract them. Monkeys, sloths and iguanas live close by and pass through the property regularly. Various species of sea turtles nest on the local beaches, and if you're lucky, one of the sea turtle conservation organizations may be doing a baby turtle release during your visit that you can participate in. Grey whales also migrate past out in the deep water at certain times of the year.
Other Information: The home is convenient to San Jose and the Central Valley, with close proximity to several of Costa Rica's spectacular national parks: Manuel Antonio, Carara, and a bit further away, Marino Ballena.
The small, authentic Costa Rican town of Parrita is close by.
Many good restaurants are located a short drive away in either direction. The house also features high speed Internet and a Wi Fi network. A flat screen TV combined with a Roku box, as well as a well-stocked games cupboard provide indoor entertainment options.
We hadn't planned on purchasing a home in Costa Rica when we found this house - it just spoke to us! We totally fell in love, and things gradually evolved from there. We live in Seattle, so it is wonderful to have a place to escape our grey winter skies, which we do at every opportunity.
Laura Shifflette & Michael Passage purchased this house in 2010
We had made several trips to Costa Rica when we started to look at property. The country has so much going for it: stunning beauty everywhere, friendly people, amazing wildlife, not to mention its stable democracy and everything that goes with that. We were captivated.
Of all the places we looked, we liked Playa Bandera the best. It is still relatively undiscovered, and one of the few beaches where the road passes behind the houses, instead of in front of them, which makes a big difference. We love that for most of the year, we can walk on this incredible, utterly perfect beach on a brilliant sunny morning and see two or four other people, at the most.
The house was a real 'fixer' when we found it, but it had 'great bones' and we could really see the possibilities!
We spent an entire year with a full time construction crew returning her to her former glory - and then some! - addressing every conceivable detail. It was truly a labor of love. We repaired and painted walls, ceramic tile, wrought iron, etc. We replaced nearly all the lighting. We had handmade furniture built. It was an incredible project and a wonderful experience.
Now La Fiaca is our own little piece of paradise. We are excited to share it with others, whom we hope will fall in love with the place the way we did.
We love the nearly deserted beach, the privacy of our grounds, the amazing trees that grow on the property. We adore our private pool, and spend a lot of time there. We love the fountains. We added the large Spanish fountain outside the front door, which we adore, and which has become Villa La Fiaca's trademark. It adds a special touch. We love the style of the house- Spanish Hacienda with some tropical flavor thrown in...
Wonderful, relaxing getaway with the ocean and beach so close. Very private and comfortable home with everything you could want. Enjoyed relaxing by the pool, the sounds of parrots and the daily fresh coconut drink. The little French restaurant nearby was so enjoyable! La Fiaca has everything you may need. Can't wait to come back.
We recently returned from a one week stay at Villa La Fiaca. It is hard to put into words just how incredibly perfect our time at the house was. The house was clean and comfortable, and the grounds have obviously been maintained with loving care.
The caretakers, Rosa and Santiago, were just wonderful. They were there to welcome us with fresh coconut water served in coconuts with a straw, and Rosa cooked us a wonderful meal after one of our days out exploring Manuel Antonio National Park.
Aldo, the property manager was also an incredible resource to our little group, making us feel welcome and at home. He helped us find activities to do and places to eat, acted as a guide on both of the hikes we went on, and set up two separate zip-line tours for different members of our group. We will definitely be staying in touch with him in hopes of returning soon and having a friend to spend time with.
The weather was perfect. Not to hot, not too humid, and with pleasant thundershowers in the evenings that provided great photo opportunities on the beach (which we had almost entirely to ourselves for the entire week). The mosquitoes were quite obnoxious, but with an ample supply of bug spray and citronella candles, we survived.
We saw as many wild creatures as we ever could have wished to. Lots of mammals and lizards at Manuel Antonio (though it was quite crowded), and several frogs and other reptilian species seen at Rainmaker. If you go to Rainmaker, it is nice to get in early before the heat of the day, before the crowds arrive. Hike in, take some photos, jump in the waterfall, then return to the main office to see what Perro Vida has on tap and devour a delicious lunch that the ladies will prepare for you if you let them know when you buy your ticket.
All in all, an incredible, life-changing experience. We would all do it again in a heart beat. Never have I, in my entire life, felt so saddened to leave a place.
Thank you so much for making your home available to those who need to find that little piece of their soul again!
The home was exactly as it was described , beautiful , tranquil & inviting ;)) Thankyou so much for allowing us to stay .
This house & the grounds are beautiful. Aldo, Santi & Rosa & family, & Yuliana were very kind & helpful. Aldo provided wonderful suggestions & provided arrangements for various activities. Santi kept the grounds immaculate, Rose cooked ua a wonderful meal & Yuliana kept the house up. The beach is perfect, very relaxing. The pool, an added bonus. There is plenty of room for all.
All the reviews were spot on. Our only comment was last day at 7am, house keeping showed up, when check out was 10am. Also...take Laura's suggestions for outings!! We had a enjoyable stay at your lovely place!
Thoroughly enjoyed it all - the pool, the hammocks, the beach, but particularly the sunsets with the pelicans swooping low over the waves. Beautiful home and wonderful location!
We have never enjoyed a weeks beachfront vacation more! Our first trip to Costa Rica, residing at Villa La Fiaca, has set a new gold standard in over fifty years of vacation travel! Villa Fiaca's location, accessability, and wonderful ammenities allowed us to make the very most of our seven day stay. The villa itself absolutely exceeded the espectations set by it's beautiful portfolio photographs. The residence building, pool, cabana, landscaped grounds and private ocean frontage provided and absolutely first class propeerty stay. The resident caretakers (seperate residence along secure driveway to La Fiaca) worked long hours each day to keep the grounds and ammenities in perfect condition. Every minute inside the gates was special and relaxing. Listing accuracy? Absolutely spot on and accurate?
A special attribute of Villa La Fiaca is its absolutely perfect location between the resort towns of Jaco (Los Suenos Marriott Resort and Marina) and this historic costal town of Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park. We used the cooler mornings to explore almost every day and no drive time exceded one hour. Fine dining, shopping, hiking and visiting beautiful mountain valleys all allowed for an afternoon home at La Fiaca's wonderful swimming pool and to enjoy sundown on the beautiful Pacific Ocean.
In every possible way this was a vacation destination that we will return to and encourage family and friends to do likewise.
Convenient to Manuel Antonio, Jaco, San Jose. Many attractions nearby, and tons to do right on our own beach!
