About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 11-14)

NOTE: Recently renovated March 2014! New main level windows to lake in 2017.

In summer be mesmorized by the light of the full moon glistening across the lake in a golden path right up to your window. In Winter, spend the Holidays enjoying the Magic of the glistening snowflakes tenderly falling on the lake and mountains while the glow of the wood burning fireplace warms your soul.

Enjoy the beauty and majesty of the Rocky Mountains and Grand Lake from this beautiful chalet-style home overlooking Shadow Mountain Lake and the Rocky Mountain National Park.

Maximize your time outdoors on the HUGE upper and lower decks, both overlooking Shadow Mountain Lake. Or spend a lazy afternoon lounging in the hammocks while reading your favorite novel. In Winter, nestle up on the couch with your favorite book or read a story to your family as the wood burning fireplace glows with warmth as the snow gently falls out the window wall in the living room.

We are just four minutes from the town of Grand Lake and the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. Grand Lake provides a classic 'old west' town ambiance and fun for the whole family. From there you can enjoy the shops, restaurants, mini-golf, guided horseback riding, guided and unguided snowmobile and ATV rentals, go-carts, bumper boats and more. Walk to the marina and rent a boat from this gorgeous lake home with panorama views of the lake and mountains.

Rocky Mountain National Park is home to an abundant wildlife population including elk, deer, moose, bears, porcupines and foxes (many of these pass through the rental property as well). Miles of hiking and snowshoeing trails are accessible from the entrance to the park.

Trail Ridge Marina is just 100 yards down the road and offers pontoon and sport-boat rentals. You can also snowmobile across the lakes in the winter! Book early as this is a year round vacation rental with strong rental history and repeat renters.

There is no better place to spend vacation or the holidays than in the mountains of Colorado.

NOTE: We DO NOT allow gatherings or events (family reunions, weddings, rehearsal dinners, etc.) of any kind to take place in our home. The home is restricted to the specific number of guests staying in the home that we approve and can accommodate for sleeping. We receive multiple inquiries as such so want to provide notification here to help save you time in your vacation rental search.

About Joe Penta

New Owners Randy & Karen are busy as ever decorating, replaced most main floor level glass to enhance those magnificent views to and across the lake.

Joe Penta purchased this house in 2016

Why Joe Penta chose Rocky Mountain National Park

Views of the Lake and the Mountains right from this home and of course the beauty of nature all around with wildlife that comes through the neighborhood. Also, the ease of access to Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park and the Arapahoe Nat'l Forest and all the trail systems added to the convenience of this location. And downtown Grand Lake is only a few minutes away so it is easy to get anything you might need at the store.

What makes this house unique

The lake view and the feeling of being right on the water from the living room or deck. You can throw a stone in the water from here. Our guests write about seeing rainbows, thunderstorms, full moon glows coming across the lake. I like to shut off all the lights in the home and just look at the moon reflect on the lake as it looks like a path of gold light coming right up to you. The alpenglow on the mountains in the early evenings is ever changing so don't take your eyes off of it for a minute. Priceless!

Guestbook comments from the owner

OH. MY. GOODNESS. Excuse my caps, but this happens to be the absolute most BEAUTIFUL place I've ever been my entire life! Extremely clean and to be honest, the photos do not do their view any justice. Sitting out on the deck while eating dinner, watching the sunset, and overlooking the Rockies is probably my fondest memory. We drove Trail Ridge Road in it's entirety which I highly recommend. We will definitely be back!

Response from Owner:

Really nice vacation. View was amazing. Additional fees are a lot!!!

  • 4 of 5

House was overall clean though a little musty in the basement portion which aired out fine with the windows open. My biggest complaint where the additional fees on this rental. It advertises as sleeps 12 but on top of the hefty cleaning fee ( it is a big house so I understand) we where charged an additional 80 dollar guest fee and we only had 8 people staying!!!!. The taxes, cleaning fee, and additional charge added up to more than renting it an additional night. However, if you are ok with that, the owner was nice and did let us check in at noon. View and location are great. House was clean. Great Lake view.

Beautiful Mountain and lake views

  • 5 of 5

We spent 5 days at this wonderful home in July of 2017. It was a

family gathering with our son and family, who lives in Oregon and our daughter and family who lives in Boston.

We found the home to be very comfortable with ample space for all.

The house is within walking distance of Grand Lake (7 minutes by car)

and near Rocky Mountain National Park. The kitchen was well equiped and the beds were comfortable. The design was excellent for a large group.

The only negative thing was the television wasn't working and the provider couldn't get there during our stay. We contacted the owner

who promptly drove from Denver with a new receiver. Not many owners would go out of their way to do this!

I would definitely recommend this property for anyone planning to visit Grand Lake.
