Overview

About the property

Very clean, newly renovated, 2-bedroom cottage with deck sleeps up to 4 people with a superb view of the 4.5 km length of Crow Lake (mainly crown land).

Located close to the playground and a stone's throw away from the lovely sand beach and 100-foot beautifully landscaped boardwalk with plenty of chairs.

Bring your own linens and pillows for each of the double beds.

Enjoy a game of horse-shoes, Bocce Ball, badminton or explore the lake in one of our canoes, kayaks or paddle-boat for $5 per hour. Enjoy an evening fire at the large firepit by the water or use one of our 4 portable firebowls for a more private time; firewood is for sale for your convenience.

Clean your catch of the day at our new stainless steel fish-cleaning station and then savour your meal cooked on one of our 5 propane barbeques.

Crow Lake is a very deep, exceptionally clean lake perfect for swimming, fishing or just relaxing and is connected to much larger Bob`s Lake.

Sorry, we cannot accommodate pets at this time. Please; no Jetskis and all cottages are non-smoking.

Fishing

We offer a new stainless steel fish cleaning station as well as freezer service. We do not rent fishing boats, but can provide names of businesses who do. Public boat launch is a 2-minute drive away. Crow Lake and Bob's Lake have several spices of fish which includes the list below:

Please note that a refundable fee of $50 shall be added to deposit. Fee will be refunded as long as the cabin is left in the condition that you received it (cleaned, including frig and oven, recycling removed and sorted, floor swept and washed and all dishes cleaned and put away), no damages has been done and departure is on-time. (Based upon final inspection prior to your departure.)Nature Walks

Discover the recently created Meisel Woods Conservation Area, a 20 minute walk or 3 minute car ride away. It is a forested natural area with plants, animals and landscape typical of the headwaters of the Tay and Upper Rideau watershed; an excellent example of Precambrian Shield land.

The property surrounds a 60-acre, headwaters lake known as Beaver or Bass Lake. For more information visit the Rideau Valley website (www.rvca.ca/careas/meisel_woods).

Cycling

Several trails on public roads make it an excellent area for cycling. You can explore the huge network of hard surface - or dirt roads. The Trans Canada Trail is only 10 minutes away.

Shopping & Restaurants

Perth, voted as one of the prettiest towns in Ontario and Westport with its unique shops and gorgeous setting are only a 20 - 30 minutes drive from The Oaks. Enjoy a round of golf at one of 4 courses within 30 minutes of The Oaks, including beautiful Rivendell Golf Club in Verona.

Sharbot Lake, a 10-minute drive away has a medical centre, chiropractor, masseuse, bank, post office, reasonably priced 'Mike Dean's' grocery store, post office, hardware stores, two restaurants and much more. The Fall River Pub and Grill , a fine dining establishment in Maberly, is only 20 minutes away by car.

Visit Seed to Sausage for their award winning dry cured chorizo or dry cured, naturally smoked bacon and varieties of cheeses.

Come and stay for the Victoria Day weekend to take in The Day of The Pig, an annual party showcasing some of Canada's greatest artisan food producers. Come and eat food prepared by great chefs, see all sorts of cooking and drinking demos, meet the people that make your food just a little bit better at our artisans market, listen to live bands and get a chance to build your own business. There's really no event like it around.This cabin features new double-hung windows and other improvements, full-size refrigerator with freezer, toaster, coffee-maker, microwave, BBQ utensils, can openers, winescrews, cutlery, dishes, potholders, pots and pans and basic kitchen utensils.

If anything is missing that you would like to have in the cabin, let us know as we have a cache of extra dishes and baking pans, lasagna pans, extra pots, aluminum trays, food processor, toaster oven, crock pots, hand blender and immersion blender to name a few.

There are 5 golf courses within a 30 minute drive, as well as horseback riding, hiking trails, Scheuermann Winery (www.scheuermannwinery.com) and challenging roads for biking. Grocery stores, restaurants, post office, bank, medical clinic and pharmacy are within a 10-minute drive in nearby Sharbot Lake.No pets / no JetSkis / no smoking inside cottages. Cottages are received in immaculate condition and are expected to be left clean. Failure to comply will result in loss of refundable $50 deposit as stated below.

Deposit Policy - $250.00 per cottage per week plus refundable $50 cleaning/damage fee is required at the time of booking. (See the 'Rates' page for expectations regarding refundable cleaning/damage/late check-out fee)

Refund for cancellation will be given if the unit is re-rented, less a $25 service fee. For short stays, a deposit of $100 per cottage plus refundable cleaning/damage fee is required with same cancellation policy as above.

Day Visitors: $10.00 per person. Overnight Visitors $25.00 per person. All rates are in Canadian funds, taxes not included.
