Savona is a small, charming community nestled on the shores of Kamloops Lake, halfway between the City of Kamloops and the town of Cache Creek, just off the scenic Trans Canada Highway. It is only half an hour from Savona to downtown Kamloops.
Surrounded by semi-arid grasslands and sagebrush, Savona is a great place to stop and relax while exploring the area's outdoor attractions. Savona's mild and dry four-season climate boasts of over 2,000 hours of sunshine a year and less than twelve inches of precipitation a year.
Picnic tables, shaded lawns, a swimming area, washrooms, wharves and a public boat launch make the Savona Lakeshore Park a popular destination on a hot summer day. Enjoy your picnic and watch the kids swim. Launch your boat and spend the day on the lake. Kamloops Lake is the perfect lake for water sports: boating, wakeboarding, water skiing, tubing or sailing.

Kamloops Lake is a river fed lake that is home to Kamloops and Rainbow trout as well as Dolly Varden. Fishermen will probably want to troll the lake, but can also fly fish from the shores of the Thompson River at the mouth of Kamloops Lake. The North and South Thompson Rivers flow into Kamloops Lake which is about 18 miles long, a mile wide and as deep as 152 meters (500 feet) in places. Because the lake is river fed, the water level goes up and down with the snow melt in the mountains. Early June is high water and by fall there is a lot of rocky shore.
The Tobiano Golf Course, ranked #16 in Score Golf's Top 100 in 2010, is only ten minutes away from the town of Savona. This Thomas McBroom designed course has received numerous awards including best new Canadian Course in 2008. Its setting on the bluffs above Kamloops Lake enjoys spectacular vistas. The Clubhouse at Tobiano is open during the golfing season and offers the same incredible views of Kamloops Lake.
