Just a short drive away is Hendersonville, NC and its many points of interest. Perhaps a day of enjoying the Carl Sandburg National Historic site, the beautiful waterfalls in Dupont Forest State Park where The Hunger Games was filmed, the many interesting sites in Pisgah National Forest, or exploring the Lake Lure/Chimney Rock areas would be on your agenda. Or, you may prefer the vistas of the Blue Ridge Parkway or touring The Biltmore Estate and other sites in the charming, historic city of Asheville.

The adjacent Childrens Museum is wonderful for all children. For art lovers the Greenville Museum of Art with a large permanent collection of Andrew Wyeth watercolors is in the same complex.

You may just desire to enjoy all the benefits of the Cliffs Valley including golf on any of the fantastic Cliffs courses. Whatever your interest, returning to 'The Stork's Nest' to relax from the events of the day will be a special pleasure. The home offers a master suite with a king bed, wonderful views, a private covered deck, a huge walk in closet and a bath with a large walk in shower or a turbo tub for unwinding. The main guest room offers a queen bed and one of the best views in the house. The large 3rd bedroom has 2 twin beds and valley views as well.

The well equipped kitchen includes granite countertops, high end appliances and all the refinements you expect in a quality home. It is open to the Great Room and breakfast area, all of which feature spectacular mountain views. In addition to the informal breakfast area there is a formal dining room with seating for 10. The screened porch, with wood burning fireplace, just off the kitchen and breakfast area may be your favorite place to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Carolina mountains or to kick back and read your favorite book.

We are certain you will enjoy a restorative experience whatever you do in this wonderful part of God's creation. Come and see for yourself what is so unique about the Cliffs Valley and the surrounding areas of upstate SC and western NC; but, beware, you may not want to leave!

About The Owner

I am a retired obstetrician (hence 'The Stork's Nest') and a golfer. My wife of 43+ years is an artist. Our primary home now is in the flat lands of Louisiana but we love the Carolina mountain area and the opportunity to enjoy as many different waterfalls as we can. We also love sharing 'The Storks Nest' with our family for the annual 'Cousins' Camp'.

The Owner purchased this house in 2009

Why The Owner chose Western South Carolina

We have enjoyed the Carolina mountains since the 1970's. When we looked for a retirement location we discovered the Cliffs Valley. The beautiful setting and ease of access to wonderful cities like Greenville, SC & Asheville, NC made this a perfect place for us. We regret that we are currently unable to spend more time there but our loss is your gain.

What makes this house unique

The moderate climate and wonderful changing views are phenomenal. Each morning is a new view varying from clouds in the valley, beautiful sunrises, spring & fall foliage changes and the opportunity to see abundant wildlife in a quiet private setting.

Beautiful property and views

  • 5 of 5

This is an absolutely wonderful home. First off, the Cliffs Valley is an outstanding development with beautiful homes throughout, wonderful walking trails and many other amenities. The house itself has luxurious, comfortable furnishings and is just generally very nicely appointed and laid out. The views are phenomenal and visible from essentially every room. The screened-in porch takes advantage of this and is just really the nicest one I've ever seen. We've stayed in a dozen or so VRBO homes across the country and this is easily our favorite so far. Also, the area is just about our favorite with great small towns and gorgeous scenery everywhere. The owner was very easy to work with and very helpful with regard to things to do nearby. Just a great place to stay.

Spectacular Home With Mountain Views

  • 5 of 5

The home exceeded our expectations. The owners were very helpful and plenty of information provided on activities in the area. Very well appointed home, fabulous views, sunrise is special. We enjoyed the hikes on the trails in The Cliffs at Valley, no need to travel unless you are a serious hiker. Gourmet kitchen allowed for many dinners in with comfort and ease. We biked Swamp Rabbit Trail from Travelers Rest, try the old hardware store and Tandem for breakfast. Good pizza at Mezzaluna in Hendersonville and day trip to Biltmore Estate and Asheville. The month went by too fast, enjoyed watching spring arrive and all the trees and flowers bloom. Would return and highly recommend for an active sports trip or quiet solitude and reflection.

Another Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at this wonderful home in The Cliffs Valley. We enjoyed it just as much as we did the first time. This home and location are really special. The home is luxurious and has furnishings that are both attractive and extremely comfortable. It is very spacious and has wonderful amenities. It sits on a very large lot (several acres) and is secluded from other homes. The views from the home are incredible, whether it be in the morning, evening, during bright sunny skies, or overcast rainy weather. It is conveniently located close to Greenville, Hendersonville, and Asheville, and several smaller mountain towns. We have travelled extensively, and this is one part of the country we never tire of. We hope to be able to rent this home every year until we retire to this area.

Fantastic Stay

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in this magnificent home in early Fall. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this home. It is situated on the mountainside in The Cliffs Valley with a phenomenal view. The home is a luxurious mountain retreat with every amenity imaginable. We have been vacationing in this area for many years; this was the most relaxing visit of all. We hope to rent this home every year before we retire (in the Cliffs Valley).

Oasis from Winter

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I just returned this week from a 4 night stay in this amazing home! The views from the home are unmatched and the home is beautifully appointed. Everything you need for a wonderful stay is provided for you from the linens and bathroom amenities to the wood needed to build a glowing fire in the outdoor fireplace. After the northern winter we have endured and continue to endure, we were ready for a break. This home provided the perfect escape! We look forward to staying in the home again and would recommend it without reservation!
