Perfect property to get away from the daily life and relax.

  • 4 of 5

The property is located in what appears to be a piece of land that is semi private to those who rent the few properties in it. I saw two mobile homes total such as this one and a few spots for RV's. Unfortunately the pictures of this house do not show the best part in my opinion, the proximity to the lake. The lake is literally behind this house, at the end of the backyard. Also has a fantastic pier that extends far in to the lake, great fishing spot. The house itself has all the basics to stay and enjoy once stay. It is not a fancy place so don't have that expectation but the beds and pillows are comfortable. The bathrooms and kitchen were also clean and the property in whole. If you are looking for a place where you have the lake in you backyard and a comfortable place to stay in then I recommend it. Owner is very nice and helpful as well. We left the property and received a call and text shortly after letting me know I had left my Mac there. THANK YOU Wanda.

What a beautiful view!!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Banta. The lake was full and the view from the house was incredible. We loved the yard. Great fun with the dogs on a chain and playing bean bag toss And spike ball with the kids. Even room for the grand baby to play. Loved soaking in the water on our lawn chairs and floats by the beach area. The house (double wide) was very big. Very big kitchen. The house shows it's age though. Rusted and/chipped sinks, flooring etc. The middle bed droops in the middle so very uncomfortable but all other beds were fine. But it was good enough for what we needed. Loved having morning coffee in the yard watching the sun come up.

Be prepared

  • 2 of 5

The positives are that the house has a great location on the water and the pier was great for just walking out for some fishing. The RV/house park was quiet and family friendly. We were greated immediately upon our arrival. The home is very spacious and was cooled for our arrival.

The negatives were that entrance to the front door was hazardous due to a vine that tripped both my husband and I plus there was vine reaching out to grab you when walking to the front door. Thank goodness we weren't allergic to the strong scent of the flowers growing on the vine. There is skirting on the home that is bulging. Inside the home, anything that wasn't covered appeared clean but when you moved anything, such as the lazy susan on the dining table, it was very filthy including built up dried food that I had to clean . The same in the kitchen when you moved anything setting on the counter top. The coffee maker was very bad. I had to clean it three times prior to making our first pot of coffee. The refrigerator worked well but the vegetable and fruit bins were not secured and extremely difficult to use. The kitchen cabinets were in disarray which made searching for what you need to prepare a meal time consuming when your suppose to be on vacation. Area rugs throughout the home have no slip-resistant backing causing a significant trip hazard. Behind the night stands, the floor has not been cleaned in some time which made us concerned about what it looks like under the beds. In the master bathroom, the garden tub was missing the plug to be able to fill plus it was very dirty with sand and grit in the bottom. When our little one was ready to relax and watch a DVD movie, we discovered the vcr/dvd player was not even connected to the television so I had to reconnect it also.

Overall, the house was not worth the cost of the rental and other fees in our opinion.

Owner's Response: The vines are Passion Flowers. We take time to make sure the vines are not sticking out as best we can. We keep the vines off the porch railing facing the lake and we wind them back to the post of the porch the morning of the Visitors arrival, but it is possible they came loose. We did a survey with the visitors of both lake houses several summers ago about the Passion Flower Vines. Asking both men & Women if they liked the Passion Flower should it stay or go? Every one we ask said stay. That they enjoyed the Beauty of the Passion flower as well as the story behind it. The smell is soft and not overwhelming. The vine is always growing reaching up to show the Beauty of the Passion Flower! As you can see from the picture! The skirting is neat & to the ground. The Housekeeper assured me she had cleaned everything. She stated the coffee maker had grounds so she emptied them and washed the coffee pot. The bins are hard to keep in place as so many visitors take them out for a keg to fit. We put them back but putting them in & out does make them loose. No one has ever complained or said anything about the bathroom rugs or the one in front of the door or the two in the kitchen, but we appreciate your feedback and will look into that. Yes it hard to keep the DVD connected prior to guest arrival because other guest disconnect it from time to time. As far as the cost, the pictures show the house as it is and we take pride in representing the property in a honorable way. Yes! We do have to charge to keep thing going. It would be a shame to keep this Quiet, Peaceful and Beautiful Place on Lake Buchanan just for us & not share it with others. But! That is why we do share it so they too can have the Joyful, Peaceful, Quiet & Beauty of Lake Buchanan. We try to Do all things as Unto The Lord! That's all we can Say. Hollis & Wanda
