It is with great pleasure that I add this cottage to our vacation rentals. Over the past four years we have watched with anticipation as this 19th Century sea captain's haven has been lovingly renovated and restored by an artist and historic preservationist, husband and wife team.
By combining modern touches and conveniences with traditional features this dedicated couple has managed to breathe new life into this historic oceanfront vacation rental home.
The design tastefully blends old and new architectural elements, art and furnishings to create an environment rich in character, charm, texture, and comfort. The palate of the home is a simple harmony of warm wood tones and crisp whitewashed plaster with calming ocean touches throughout. The ground floor has a living room, dining room, custom soapstone and wood kitchen with breakfast dinette, a laundry, and full bath with stone and tile walk-in shower. The upper level has a full bath with claw foot soaking tub and two bedrooms to sleep four to six guests.
Orchard Point Cottage is located on a bold Atlantic headland just six miles East of the historic port town of Shelburne on Nova Scotia's scenic South Shore. Close enough to town for shopping, restaurants, and visits to the museums, theater and festival venues; the cottage is far enough away to guarantee seclusion.
Standing atop a long shoreward meadow, Orchard Point Cottage offers dramatic ocean vistas and wildlife viewings from every window the welcoming sparkle of pristine Jordan Bay to the north and east, the thrill of open Atlantic surf to the south, and a South Shore picture-postcard cove to the west. This awe-inspiring setting was celebrated by writer, poet and naturalist Howard T. Walden's beautifully written "Anchorage Northeast: The story of one man's quest for the unspoiled bounties of nature and their discovery on a stretch of Nova Scotian Coast."Orchard Point has a Saturday to Saturday rental period.
To secure your vacation rental, a deposit of $500.00 CDN per week and the damage deposit waiver fee are due upon booking. Your booking is not confirmed until this deposit has been received. The balance of the rental fee is due 90 days prior to your arrival. Payment can be made either by Email Transfer, Visa, MasterCard or personal cheque in Canadian Dollars.Damage Deposit Waiver Fee:
We require a $45 non-refundable Damage Deposit Waiver Fee for all reservations in lieu of charging an additional $500 security deposit to the property rental rate. This privilege is offered to you as our way of saying thank you for your business. The waiver covers all minor accidental damage or breakage up to $500. Coverage does not cover extraordinary cleaning charges, damage resulting from negligence or willful or wanton conduct or damage by a pet (in those properties that allow pets). Guests must notify the Sandy Lane Enterprises Ltd. at once of any damage during occupancy and submit a written report or the Damage Waiver is void. For reservations of which the rental amount is over $2500 weekly, an additional refundable security deposit may be required.
