Built in the 1850s by an English merchant sea captain by the name of Pierce, this traditional Nova Scotia Farmhouse enjoys a commanding view of Lockeport Harbour. Situated on 20 acres of property with 350 feet of shoreline, Rockland Cottage offers the simple pleasure of seclusion. The house maintains a lot of its original character featuring oak baseboards and staircase and beautiful hardwood floors. The heart of the house is the large fully equipped, eat-in kitchen that is complemented by an antique hutch and dining table with seating for six. The cozy furnished living room and a separate parlor allowing for a quiet reading room or games room contributes to the comfortable family atmosphere of the house. The house sleeps 6 guests in four bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms have queen size beds, and the other two have single Captain's beds. The cottage comes equipped with a modern four-piece bath and separate laundry facilities. Bed linens and towels are provided. Other amenities include: propane BBQ, propane fireplace and fire pit by the shore.
A newly built screened in veranda at the back of the house to take advantage of the clear view of the ocean and thwarts any flying insects. By the shore there is a wooden deck for sun tanning.
It's a short 30-minute drive to Shelburne, 15 minutes to Lockeport and 40 minutes to Liverpool; Rockland Cottage is nicely situated to explore the South Shore. The nearest beaches are Louis Head beach at about 10 minutes away and Lockeport's Crescent Beach about 15 minutes away by car. Yarmouth ferry terminal is just over an hour's drive; while the Halifax airport is approximately 2 and a half hours away.
Rockland Cottage has a one week SUNDAY TO SUNDAY rental period during the peak season (July and August) and three night minimum rental period during the shoulder seasons.
