Rising Sun guest house is a beautiful restored Nova Scotia vacation home. Carefully renovated, the house combines old world character with a coastal inspired modern style.
The main floor of this chic cottage has a tasteful living room with a propane fireplace, satellite TV and comfortable chairs. There is a fully equipped kitchen that is excellent for entertaining with gourmet cookware and an en suite dining room with a view of the bay and a French door that leads into the garden. Also downstairs is a small library or reading room and a 2-piece powder room.
Upstairs are two bedrooms, laundry facilities and a four-piece bathroom with a claw foot tub and shower. With a view of the bay, the master bedroom is simply furnished with a classic design, queen-size wrought iron bed, side tables, reading chair and plenty of closet space. The guest room features two twin beds, a side table, and a dresser. Both rooms have closets. The bright, colourful bed linens on the twin beds give a sense of whimsy to the room which contrasts nicely to the muted serene colours of the master bedroom.
Clean lines, muted colours inspired by the surroundings and carefully selected antique pieces all add to the casual charm of this seaside guest house.
Surrounded by wildflowers, the garden is a restful retreat. Enjoy your morning coffee watching the sun rise over the bay. Stroll down the winding pathway to the rocky shoreline to relax by the ocean. Huge granite boulders shaped by tide and time are the perfect backdrop for a day on the water. Put out a towel and sunbathe; walk along the shore; spot seals playing in peaceful Jordan Bay. For those of you who like to swim, there is an excellent sheltered swimming area just off the rocks.
There is something about the salt air that promotes a peaceful, unhurried existence, where your troubles melt away and are replaced with easy problems like which beach to visit next, or what to have for lunch.
Rising Sun Guest House is located on the eastern side of the peninsular in the village of Jordan Ferry; about a ten minute drive from the historic town of Shelburne where you will find restaurants, shops, museums, the Osprey Arts Centre and other amenities.
Shelburne is half way along the Lighthouse Route - about an hour and 15 minutes from Yarmouth and about 2 hours from Halifax. An hour and a half from Lunenburg, and about 2 hours to Digby, it is a great location to use as a base from which to explore the South Shore.Weekly rentals only during Peak Season (July - August)

To secure your vacation rental, a deposit of $500.00 CDN per week and the damage deposit waiver fee are due upon booking. Your booking is not confirmed until this deposit has been received. The balance of the rental fee is due 90 days prior to your arrival. Payment can be made either by Email Transfer, Visa, MasterCard or personal cheque in Canadian Dollars.Damage Deposit Waiver Fee:
We require a $45 non-refundable Damage Deposit Waiver Fee for all reservations in lieu of charging an additional $500 security deposit to the property rental rate. This privilege is offered to you as our way of saying thank you for your business. The waiver covers all minor accidental damage or breakage up to $500. Coverage does not cover extraordinary cleaning charges, damage resulting from negligence or willful or wanton conduct or damage by a pet (in those properties that allow pets). Guests must notify the Sandy Lane Enterprises Ltd. at once of any damage during occupancy and submit a written report or the Damage Waiver is void. For reservations of which the rental amount is over $2500 weekly, an additional refundable security deposit may be required.
