Overview

About the property

Comfort, Privacy, Ocean Views And A Sand Beach

Well-appointed, charming, comfortable, four-bedroom, two bath home with waterfront views, a private sand beach, and wrap-around screened porch on exclusive Kennebec Point in Georgetown, Maine. The house, accessed via private driveway, sits on a broad lawn with views to the ocean and to a large tidal bay beyond the lawn and sand beach. The bay is great for swimming when the tide is in and great for clamming when it is out.

The large, eat-in kitchen and adjacent dining room featuring ocean and bay views is separated from the comfortable, well-finished living room by a large stone fireplace. A well-lit, cozy library flanks the master bedroom with a newly renovated master bath and back-bedroom.

An additional full bath completes the first floor. Upstairs, two bedrooms, each with queen beds and ample closets flank a large hall.

Neighborhood amenities include tennis courts and clamming in the tidal bay (available from the town hall for a very small license fee). Reid State Park, Five Islands, boat rentals, and the best lobsters in Maine are within a few minutes drive.

The home is fully furnished. Bedrooms feature queen beds.

Freeport, the home of LL Bean (open 24 x 7), is about 45 minutes to the south, Boothbay Harbor about the same distance to the north. Portland (and the airport) is about an hour to the south.

Amenities: The eat-in kitchen is fully equipped, including a microwave, refrigerator and Jenn-air stove with oven. There is an on-the-porch gas grill. Satellite television, DVD, telephone. Stereo with iPhone dock. Large stone fireplace. Wrap-around screened deck. Private sand beach on tidal bay. Tennis courts (for a minor fee to the local association). Clamming in the tidal bay (requires an inexpensive license). Fishing, kayaking, restaurants, sailing, shopping, State Park, walking. Wildlife viewing, bird watching (osprey, great blue heron, eagles, etc.)

We also rent the Georgetown Grey House, a smaller cottage across the large lawn from the Georgetown White House. Please see http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p316239 .

Quiet Columbus Day Weekend in Maine

Reviewer Comments:

The location of the house could not be more beautiful. The views from the private sandy beach are astounding. The house itself is well cared for and comfortable. You feel like you are staying in a friends house. There were a few bumps with Turnkey. Firstly, cleaning finished late on the day we arrived. Turnkey called in advance to apologize and offer a voucher for a free meal. I called the number left in the message back and left a message to which no one responded. The internet also didn't work at the house. Turnkey folks were pretty helpful here, but ultimately the issue wasn't resolved until the day before we left. Help included dropping by to lend us a cellular wireless access point, but also it didn't have service at the house, so it made no difference. I realize this situation was largely beyond the control of Turnkey, but I expected someone to reach out after the fact and that never happened.

Owner's Response: Hi Edward, Thank you so much for taking the time to post this review. We would like to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you experienced and can also understand your frustration that we were unable to resolve the WiFi issue during your stay. Please be assured that our local Field Operations Team has since confirmed that the home’s internet service is now functioning properly. Here at TurnKey, your feedback is highly valued, and we try our best to make things right in any way we can so that our guests know that our priority is their ultimate satisfaction. Although not a great excuse, it appears that the WiFi issue was due to a systematic problem reported by the internet provider. We have also followed up with our Guest Experience Team to make sure someone reaches out to discuss compensation since our Housekeeping Team was not finished on time. Thanks again for bringing these important issues to light, as it is feedback like this that really makes a difference in how we move forward in offering the best service we possibly can to our guests and in keeping our properties in perfect shape. If there is anything else we can do for you, please reach out anytime on our 24/7 guest hotline and let us know. -The TurnKey VR Team

Reviewer Comments:

The house was perfectly situated for a weekend event we were attending. The grounds and beach are beautiful and the huge wrap around porch with many rocking hairs was delightful. It feels comfortable and homey. We had 5 adults staying and were very comfortable. The sunrises were beautiful!

Reviewer Comments:

We recently stayed at this classic and had a peaceful few days. The house is in a quiet location with a beautiful beach out the back door. The dog never wanted to get in the car because she was having so much fun outside. The kitchen is well stocked with every utensil you could possibly need with a great view. Overall it is what I expected from a classic Maine waterfront. If I could change anything it would have been the bed comfort but it wouldn't keep me from coming back. Planning on next year with me re family members.

Best spot in Georgetown!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year at the Whitehouse. Six adults and two teens had plenty of room and comfort in this beautiful house! Tennis every day, whiffle ball and corn hole games, searching for shells and relaxing on the screened in porch every day! Trips to Bath to eat breakfast at The Starlight Cafe and shop at Reny's are yearly traditions and dinner at Five Islands a few times too! We have spent many years vacationing in Georgetown and the Whitehouse is our favorite place to stay now!
