We stayed at the Macor by the Sea condo after Christmas 2015. My family was a little nervous about coming to Puerto Rico and driving around to the sites and what not. We had a fabulous time touring the country and beaches! It was one of the most memorable vacations ever. Our home base, Macor, was absolutely beautiful! We felt very safe there with the security. The beach out front was beautiful with lots of sea glass and great waves. The condo was plenty of room for our family of six and the outside balcony area was enormous and so relaxing. The condo also had a washer and dryer which was great and all the beach amenities you could want like chairs and boogie boards. Overall, the condo was great! Kate and Dave were also very helpful for any questions and when we had difficulty getting our rental car due to the volume of visitors to the island. I know it is scary to book online for a vacation rental, but don't be afraid of this one. It is everything that is advertised and more!
The penthouse is beautiful , clean and equipped with everything you could need or want . The views are gorgeous . Located on a great beach and the complex has a very nice pool and hot tub. We go to Rincon every two years and this is hands down the nicest place we have stayed in . We will be back .
This was our first time to Puerto Rico, the penthouse was perfect for my family. It was very clean and we felt very comfortable there. The owners were great to deal with.
Everyday I sat outside and enjoyed my morning coffee. Great view!!! We went down to the beach and pool almost everyday. We did a lot of sightseeing. Our favorite was Crash Boat Beach. I would recommend this penthouse to anyone. If we plan on coming back someday we will rent from Kate again. Thanks again Kate for letting us stay in your home.
What is very important to note is that this penthouse is rented by the owner (personally) who resides there for several months in the winter. This is not an agency cookie cutter dark hole rental which is common in beach towns. The owner is very detailed and amazingly helpful with everything. I think he sleeps with his phone near him and is very attentive with email or phone during the stay. He provides a "luxurious" service experience with his beautiful beach condo which made our trip. Of note - the pictures are dead on accurate - no deferred maintenance of anything when you arrive. It's a beautiful place just like it appears and probably the nicest condo complex in Rincon.
We chose Rincon, Puerto Rico and this lovely penthouse for our 20th wedding anniversary trip. Due to the holidays & school being out we took our 3 daughters - 17,13,11. This was our first trip to Puerto Rico and will not be our last.
A few weeks ahead of our trip the owner spent about 45 minutes on the phone with me describing in detail various day trip places, all the beach locations, fun things to see and do, great places to eat and generally all the highlights up and down the west coast of PR. We wanted to see as much of the western coast of PR as we could so we took several day trips to the various sites per his recommendations which were spot on. His list of fun stuff and great eats are accurate - we had no mediocre experiences via his suggestions.
The penthouse location is as close to the water as you could build a structure safely. From the elevator exit its about 50 steps to the sand. Each morning we had our coffee & breakfast out on the huge wrap around balcony which has seating for about 12-15. Our family of 5 had plenty of room in the condo. The grounds are immaculate and the pool is as pictured. The beach is almost private because of its location. Rincon's public beach area is a couple miles north so nearly everyone enjoying this stretch of beach is from the complex. We snorkeled right of the beach to the left and had great visibility our first day.
The trip highlight (amongst many) was probably snorkeling Tres Palmas Marine Preserve off Steps Beach (1-2 miles north of the complex). It's a coral reef right off the beach that is protected. Our 3 daughters found 2 seperate sea turtles in the reef hanging out. They swam with the turtles for 15 minutes.
Among 20 years of 1-3 vacations per year this is in the top few experiences. Enjoy!
Our first time in Puerto Rico, my family of four, which includes my husband and two sons -- 18 and 12 -- planned almost every day of our week with road trips...that is, until we arrived and saw our accommodations! Instead, we felt like royalty at our penthouse condo, with a beautifully maintained and semi-secluded pool and beach that rivaled almost any other that I have seen!
The meticulously maintained two-story condo, itself, has everything you could possibly need, including well-stocked cupboards, dry goods and all those electronic amenities. What drew my breath away was the huge walk around deck with beautiful views at every turn, an amazing cross breeze and every type of outside seating you could imagine.
As noted, the beach and pool area were perfect! No need to go anywhere else for a good beach, with shady trees, calm waters and lots of privacy.
Guests could walk to a nearby bakery and some fast food restaurants from the complex, but local motorists are a little "eager" on the roads, so you're probably best off driving the one mile or less to get your quesitos and some other food.
Nearby, we checked out all the Rincon surfing beaches...very cool! And a 90 minute drive took us to Camuy caves and the Arecibo telescope, which are about 10 minutes from each other. As a New Jersey flatlander, who is used to wide straight roads at sea level, driving deep into Puerto Rico is an adventure, but well worthwhile all the same.
One more thing...our visit and stay here would not have been as pleasant and carefree had it not been for Kate, who was super helpful, patient, attentive and accommodating from my first inquiry until the day we arrived home! Excellent customer service!
My family stayed here for a week and we were very happy. The condo is spacious, modern and was our home away from home. We enjoyed easy access to corcega beach which was warm and calm. There were chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards for the kids. The property is very clean and safe. It is a short drive to all of the great places to visit in Rincon. Dealing with Kate and her family was a pleasure and were quick to address any concerns. If you are looking to stay in Rincon with a family this is a great place. After driving around Rincon, Striper Cove South is one of the gems in this area.
