About the property

2 Bedroom, 1 1/2 bath, sleeps 6, covered dock, 7 watercraft included,pets OK

Beautiful Hayden Lake in northern Idaho is located 8 miles north of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho and 40 miles east of Spokane. WA. Couples with or without guests or families big or small are all lining up their summer plans to enjoy an unforgettable week or more in their very own Spanish-style home. It is located on one of the choice view properties on Mokins Bay at Hayden Lake. It's a perfect setting for a cocktail, dinner or recreational party or just a family time of fun. There are many choices of places to sit, enjoy the mountain and waterfront view, visit, play games, soak up some sun, take nature walks in the private 14 acre forest, take a nap or swim. Enjoy boating on the lake with the Sea cycle, 8 ft Pontoon boat, 3 stand up paddle boards, 3 kayaks, paddle boat or the 17 foot 3 person canoe.

Great fishing June-Sept with consistent catches of 14-16 inch Kokanee (Landlocked Sockeye Salmon), trout, bass, northern pike and crappie.

Whatever your idea of a good time is, you'll find it here.

The open concept of the living/dining/kitchen areas makes for easy communication and good times whether it's your turn to cook or you get to keep the cook company. Bar-B-Q is available and an easy way of living at the lake.

Prefer a little less action and a little more serenity for fishing, cruising or just relaxing, consider June or September. Some of the best weather conditions and peaceful times can be experienced during the Spring or early Fall.

An added benefit to the beautiful Spring or Fall is our rates are considerably lower than high season so you can enjoy a quality, economical stay.

Reserve early, as many do enjoy this time period at Hayden Lake.

About Bob Gerend

We are retired for 12 years now and have enjoyed owning this home to enjoy ourselves when the adjacent home was being occupied by our grandchildren. So many good memories have been made here. We manage our 2 Hayden Lake rentals from our home in Auburn, WA and spend the winter at our home in Palm Springs, California.

Bob Gerend purchased this house in 2007

Why Bob Gerend chose Northern Idaho

It became available in 2007 and made sense as we owned the home next door. We consider this the very best part of Hayden Lake and enjoy spending 3 weeks in the Spring and Fall enjoying our Lakehomes and doing annual maintenance.

What makes this house unique

Awsome view, privacy, so much to do or do nothing at all, home away from home type comfort. Everybody is always happy when they are here. It's perfect for just the two of us or our big family.

Everything we could want!

  • 5 of 5

First - so great to work with Bob! He was super responsive, flexible, friendly - and the home info was everything we would need.

Second - the home is great with plenty of space, well kept, great view windows, supplied with everything we needed.

Third - the best part, the lake, the deck, the water toys! We spent all our time on the deck and dock, it was perfect. Beautiful lake water & location, easy to swim over to the sandbar. All the toys were fun, our boat couldn't be fixed in time but with all the toys it didn't even matter. The kids tried every one of them, from 9 to 16 year olds. And the adults too!

We wanted a casual, relaxing vacation on the lake - we got everything we wanted and more!

Very nice time

  • 4 of 5

We stayed the last week of August with friends renting the cabin next door. It's a very relaxing location. It is well accommodated and comfortable. The local agent (Jeannie) is very friendly and helpful. This was our second year and we're all already looking forward to returning next year. It's a lovely way to end the Summer before back-to-school.

Great all around vacation house

  • 5 of 5

Spent the third week of August 2015 at this well appointed house right on the lake. We had one adult and three teenage boys and the layout worked very well. Was initially concerned that we were too far from town, but house is an easy 20 minute drive into Hayden. A big plus for us were all the water "toys" provided by the owners: 2 kayacks, 2 paddle boats and a canoe, as we did not bring our own boat. Lifejackets were provided but we brought our own. The boys spent most of their time fishing and this Mom was happy that they were outdoors in the fresh air having fun. I'd recommend this property for anyone except families with more than one toddler. There are a couple of drop off's that would make me nervous, but that is probably the case with 95% of vacation homes available on Hayden Lake. Everything about this house is as advertised both in print and photos.

Great family getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We just completed a great family vacation at this lovely lake house. We had between 8 and 10 adults and grown teenagers throughout the week with 6 staying in the house and the others sleeping in the detached bunkhouse which we were able to reserve for the week. We were also very thankful that the owners allowed us to bring our dog Sophie with us as well. The house was perfect for our needs as it comes fully equipped with all the necessities from pots, pans and utensils in the kitchen, to bedding and plenty of towels for everyone. The dock abd covered slips were great for mooring our ski boat and the water was clear and had no issues with depth coming in and out. We've stayed at many other locations on the Lake over the years and this was one of the best spots we've found. Our whole family really appreciated being able to use the many watercraft, from kayaks to paddle boards, canoe and the super fun seacycle, everyone was able to always find something to keep them busy. Best of all was the private beach and diving rock right next to the dock. My wife and I felt like we were in a Corona beer commercial each day sitting there in our beach chairs with our toes in the sand and water with a nice cold adult beverage in hand. An absolutely great time was had by all. We're definitely bringing the family back for another week next summer!

Not as expected

  • 3 of 5

Overall our stay was pleasant. The rental is worth the per night cost. We liked that we could bring our dog and were very happy that the kitchen was well stocked with all supplies, spices, dishes, etc. The owners and on-site helpers made things very easy for us and were more than attentive. We expected the bunkhouse to be closer to the rental itself. Little kids may be afraid to be in there alone. I get that it's a lake house, but it was very dusty and the corners of every room were very dirty. All the furnishings are old and not very comfortable, including all beds, couches and chairs. The only thing new in this rental is the television sets, which are very difficult to use. Seems to me money would be better spent on a comfy couch or chairs. Neighbors call this place "the taco bell house".

This place is NOT for folks who are older, have any type of disability, and can't easily navigate stairs. The handrails of the stairs are dangerous and should be replaced. The dock is slippery and needs to be pressure washed. Within one day, four of us had minor injuries from the rails and/or deck. I appreciated all of the water toys, but again, they are very outdated and in disrepair.

I would still recommend this property, but you need to be clear on what you're getting. It wasn't exactly what I had in mind. Maybe I should have done a little more research. PS... property is located on a great section of the lake.

Owner's Response: We are sorry about the dusty corners that got missed during the 4 hour turn-over cleaning. The cleaning crew has assured us it won't happen again. Re. the bunkhouse: It is about 150 ft from the lakehomes. Most parents and kids find the modest separation to be beneficial. Sorry that wasn't the case for your family. Most of our guests have commented on how comfortable the king size expensive pillow-top mattresses in both lakehomes are. Also, we have been told by most guests that they love the 3 swivel, upholstered chairs as well as the 3 captain's chairs. We haven't received any prior complaints about the new TV sets and their controls. The dock was completely pressure washed 6 weeks ago and no other guests have said the concrete surface was too slippery. Even though some of the water toys have been around for years, as far as we know, all are working OK, but we will ask our on-site managers to double-check all of them. Again, we are sorry that everything wasn't up to your expectations. With the 24 photos and the descriptions in our VRBO listings, we have tried to present an accurate and honest picture of what our guests should expect to find at what we consider to be our little piece of heaven at Hayden Lake.
