About Kathy Riechers

Our names are Ron and Kathy, we're from Iowa. We have been going to Florida for years and have always loved what the state has to offer, it keeps us coming back.

Kathy Riechers purchased this house in 2011

Why Kathy Riechers chose Homosassa

As everybody knows, Iowa winters can be brutal. The thought of 'fun in the sun' was very appealing. Our house in Florida is far enough away from the hustle and bustle to enjoy peace and quiet and yet close enough to drive a short distance to the main attractions if we wish.

What makes this house unique

Once we saw how unique this house was we had to have it. It's not your traditional Florida home. It feels like your walking into a lodge with the most spectacular views. It's large yet feels cozy. We always feel right at home there.

Perfect place to get away from it all

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in Homosassa many times before and enjoy the area. This house was perfect in every way. The pictures do not do it justice. The view from the living area is fabulous. Loved the high ceiling. Kitchen was well stocked with all we needed and everything functioned properly. There are two dining areas to choose from, a small table in the kitchen and a big table in the dining room. The living area was so comfortable. Plenty of seating. Loved the swivel recliners. New TV system which was easy enough to figure out. Wished we could have tried out the fireplace. Master suite downstairs had a super comfortable bed, plenty of space to spread out in, and a tub that would fit a crowd. Upstairs the 3 bedrooms are all well-appointed and comfortable. Everything was spotless, clean and immaculate. We spent most of the time by the screened in pool watching the day go by. Always a shady spot to be had. Plenty of pool chairs on the deck. We saw dolphins and manatees in the canal way. We didn’t get a chance to try out the kayaks, but they were brand new when we were there. There are also two bikes that were in really great shape that we used to pedal around the development. Lots of boats going up and down the river to watch during the day. Any questions or concerns we had were all timely answered by both owner and caretaker. Tried many of the local restaurants but really liked the shrimp at The Freezer. This is a wonderful house and there should be no hesitation at all about the quality of this beautiful home.

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!

  • 5 of 5

The house was superb and the views from every room beautiful and tranquil. The property was an excellent fit for our family group of 10. There were young children, teenagers. and adults. All were more than satisfied. The local attractions were good and Tampa was a day trip not too far away. The home was immaculate and equipped with everything you could think of. Upon arrival the house was a little warm (due to the recent change in temperature) I contacted the owner and she immediately arranged for the house keeper to come and adjust the thermostat. The house keeper was so accommodating. We soooo look forward to returning and Thank You for a AWESOME much needed getaway. Truly a home away from home.

A Christmas Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5

This lovely home on the Homosassa River was perfect for our family reunion in December 2014. The eight of us spent a blissful time there: 60 manatees swimming past us , dolphins and mullet jumping in front of the house, and a heated outdoor pool. The house is a superb entertainment home: large bedrooms, good beds, two refrigerators, two ovens and two washers and dryers. Christmas practically prepared itself--One highlight was a light show on Christmas Eve (with a live band) held in Ellie Schiller State Park about five miles away. Two miles away was an excellent restaurant located on the Homosassa River-- Seagrass Waterfront. Again, the river, the big marshes, and the fishing boats decorated with Christmas lights made dining there a real outdoors experience. Our family spans three generations, all of whom love the outdoors. We were thrilled with our Christmas in Homosassa in this perfect riverfront home.

Exceeded Our Expectations!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home, gorgeous views from all the windows. Very clean and well equipped. There were 4 families sharing and we all had plenty of personal space! So close to local attractions and shopping too. We found a great restaurant close to the house...Seagrass Waterfront. Some of the best seafood we've had in a very long time....great service too. We will definitely be back! Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Stay 04/10 - 04/14/2013

  • 5 of 5

Everything was clean, organized and very nice. Only complaint was we had no toilet paper.

My grand daughter is missing her doll's baby blanket. I emailed the owner on Sunday, 4/14 with no response.

I would highly recommend the property.

Our ideal Florida family vacation

  • 5 of 5

The house was beautiful, spacious, in a quiet and safe neighborhood, right on the water with views of the Homosassa River. Manatees, rays, and a variety of large fish were frequently seen right on our shoreline. If you like to fish, bring a boat or kayaks, or rent them at a nearby marina. The children absolutely loved the screened in saltwater pool. Actually, we all did. Had a great time in the water with the kids, and swam every day. There are lots of interesting restaurants and fun things to do and see locally within a few miles, without having to deal with stifling urban traffic. We would love to come right back here for another fun and relaxing vacation.
