Located at PEI's narrowest spot, Summerside is considered the province's second city after the capital, Charlottetown. Quaint shopping districts, the famed Harbourfront Theatre, beautiful beaches and a variety of restaurants make Summerside worth a visit. Centrally-located, it makes a terrific base from which to explore P.E.I. as it is a gateway to the western regions of the island, with both the Confederation Trail and Lady Slipper Scenic Drive running through the area. The city celebrates its connections to the sea and Celtic and Acadian ancestry, and is home the the world-famous College of Piping.
