We had a group of 8 travellers from Alberta. The rural location next to the sea was perfect. Quiet, well appointed, easy to access. Close to anything we required (local craft beer/distilled spirits/wine).
If you enjoy hiking, this is the perfect location for Blomidon and Cape Split.
Our group would highly recommend this spot.
View of Bay of Fundy -Amazing
Rented this place for 2 nights so we could explore Wolfville and the Annapolis Valley. The place was perfect. Well stocked kitchen, beds were good. Would recommend for stay in the area.
All the amenities of home!
We were two families traveling with 6 kids. The house was spacious enough for all to have beds and plenty of room to play. Marcus provides a lovely house with all the amenities of home, making for a great couple of days of our vacation. Our kids loved seeing the tide changes and playing on the beach where just hours before it was completely submerged. Great stay!
The property is great , with lots of room to sleep up to 10 people. Walking distance to beach
We used the property for a birthday party and had family coming from all over. enough room to sleep 10 . The fire pit was nice. Neighbors are close but we were quiet and they were friendly. Short walk to the beach and an ideal place to stay for Kingsport Gala Days which were on when we were there. The owner Marcus answered all questions promptly and is available to answer questions on the area when you arrive . Close to Wolfville , Canning , Blomidon , The Look off , Halls Harbour ( 25 min away ). A fun time was had by all and if you are looking for a place to get away from the hustle of the city , this place will work out fine !
Great, restful spot! Lots of space and natural light, great kitchen, patio and outdoor fire pit!
We were only there for one night, but the cottage itself is excellent, and for the most part easy to find. Marcus' directions via email were more than adequate and Google Maps will pick up the place just fine!
More than enough space for the four of us with great amenities, particularly anything on the first floor! The downstairs was surprising; I didn't expect it to have as much natural light as it did, plus it's own entrance off the side... just a great layout overall, really!
Patio was great for cooking and hanging out. It might have been just us not figuring it out, but a light for the patio that could be consistently turned on versus a motion sensor would be ideal for post-BBQ hangout time. Again, we might not have been turning on the right switches.
Marcus is great to work with and very flexible. Our trip was very "in flux", but Marcus had no trouble with our version of time and still made an effort to come check in on us and make sure we were comfortable. I should also mention Marcus has done a great job laying out local tourism information in the cottage, including penciling in times things are open or providing notes for when is best to go. That goes a long way for someone completely new to the area.
While the view is great, you can't access the water directly from the property, though it's only a short distance to a local trail that'll take you down. The property itself ends at a cliff (well fenced) with a drop down to the water/beach below. Thought to be honest, in this area you won't spend too much time on this beach as the tides are very high and will come straight up to the rock face.
Marcus has compensated for lack of direct beach access with an excellent, well stocked and well positioned fire pit that's ideal for roasting marshmallows, taking in some mostly uninterrupted night sky and watching the moon rise over the basin. Trust me when I say we didn't miss the beach!
Highly recommend, particularly for families or those looking for a quiet, well-equipped, cottage experience.
Amazing view, awesome house and a great vacation.
We stayed at the Kingsport Beach House, for a week, in August. The view was incredible, walks along the beach were fabulous and the house had everything we needed. Marcus is an amazing host and answers your questions promptly. He is also an excellent resource if you're wondering where to shop for meat and seafood or produce--try the farmer's markets.
We took two day trips--one to Hall's Harbour (great lobster) and the other to Digby (Fundy's Restaurant for the scallops)--otherwise, we visited the local small towns. Time was spent in Canning, Kentville, and Berwick. The people were friendly, informative and laid back and we loved staying small town. We ate at an Irish Restaurant in Kentville and the food was very good.
Overall, this was my favorite vacation. The tides in Minas Basin are unbelievable. Marcus has a well-equipped and comfortable house and we were completely relaxed and enjoying retirement. See for yourself--you won'the be disappointed--we weren't!
