Why the Owner Chose Montgomery Estates: We chose a cabin that was within walking distance to the solitude of the forest over a place that had the high foot traffic near the beach. We enjoy the sounds of the wildlife over the hustle and bustle of people scrambling to get to the beach. We enjoy having hiking trails out our back door and don’t mind the five-minute drive to one of the most beautiful lakes in the country, and we hope you’ll agree. We are a couple living in the SF Bay Area that wanted a little get away home that we could travel to in a reasonable amount of time. We wanted a place to enjoy that has outdoor activities that fit with our active lifestyle and Tahoe offered everything that we wanted. The Unique Benefits at this Cabin: Serenity with a private sled run out the back door in the winter. You can get to two streams within a short 20 minute hike. Power Line Trail with hours of hiking & Mountain Biking trails

Perfect for family holiday!

  • 5 of 5

We shared the house with our adult children and their partners and Denali, an Alaskan Malamute (read: big dog). All three couples had their own bedroom and with the open dining/living room configuration we did not feel crowded at all (unless stepping over Denali who was prohibited from being on any of the furniture.) The nearness of the trails in the back of the neighborhood was a huge plus!! There's a lovely lake view between the trees.

Two suggestions: I would provide information on the greeting email about the TV/computer connection -- the type of cord provided or the availability to stream via wifi. The connection cord provided did not connect up with our laptop, nor was there a chrome cast device. Had we known, we would have brought ours with us. Since we are a streaming family this prevented us from streaming movies. A netflix subscription would be a definite plus.

Second, the stairs are steep (as shown in the photo of the front of the house) and the lighting is inconsistent--some steps are lighted while others are completely dark. I would not have wanted to manage those steps in the dark if it was icy--luckily for our stay it was not.

But all in all, the house is very comfortable, a good value, good location, and we would definitely rent it again.

Comfortable house, quiet neighborhood, great location!

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family stayed at the cabin and found a peaceful retreat in a quiet, friendly neighborhood. Great location - a short drive to everywhere we wanted to go - hiking, shopping, meeting other family members, the lake. The cabin was very comfortable and clean - we slept so well, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Great information was provided about the area - restaurants, shopping, hiking, local birds/fauna. Carina was great - she responded so quickly to our communications. It was hard to leave the last day as we sat on the deck relaxing, bird watching and visiting before our drive home. We will certainly be back!

BEST way to take the kids to the snow!!

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a comfortable place to stay when we took our 7 year old twins to the snow for the first time and the Talbot House really came through! We didn't even have to drive to a snow park because there is a great little hill right next to the house!! What could be better than going outside for some sledding, back inside next to a cozy fire for some hot cocoa and then back outside for more fun in the snow! It was perfect!!

The house was clean and had everything we needed. The property manager Carina was great to work with (thanks Carina!) and we will definitely come back!!

Great quiet getaway!

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the cabin. The location was perfect for a quiet getaway. We enjoyed the easy and immediate access to the trails for hiking and biking. We could have enjoyed quick access to Stateline nightlife if we desired. Perfect balance of location!

The kitchen was well equipped, cute and had a great layout for several cooks and the dining room table fit 8 comfortably.

The back deck was just large enough for the grill and one or two persons but the front deck was spacious and had quite a few chairs.

The three bedrooms were quiet and private, proving good separation.

The price was fair, the location and neighborhood are nice and the house was cozy and comfortable. The finishings weren't high end but that isn't what we were looking for.

Highly recommended.

Very relaxing stay in quiet location

  • 5 of 5

My fiancee and our 2 dogs stayed here for a week. Except for a few very minor issues (garbage left under the bed from previous renter & some old food on a strainer in kitchen), the cabin was very clean & inviting & had everything we needed for the week. The decor is not fancy, but it's exactly what we were looking for-a cozy & comfy cabin that feels like a "home away from home." It's located in a very quiet neighborhood with pine trees all around and miles of beautiful trails that you can access across the street. Our dogs LOVED daily hikes on the trails and napping on the deck all day when they were done. We left Tahoe feeling completely relaxed & will definitely be returning soon to this special place!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, we will be much more conscientious about looking under the beds in the future, and checking everything that comes out of the dishwasher. We work super hard to offer clean comfortable homes for our Tahoe Visitors, and yes this is a very special spot for a mountain vacation. Kind regards, looking forward to your next visit. Carina

Thanks very much for the prompt deposit refund. Your cabin was just great - I particularly liked the well-stocked kitchen. (LOVE the Fiesta Ware.) It was very comfortable and clean and we enjoyed our stay.
