Our family has been on Lake Weslemkoon for over 50 years. This BOAT ACCESS cottage was totally rebuilt in 2004 to accommodate our growing (and aging) family. The main cottage (800 sq ft) has two queen bedrooms with windows facing the lake, bathroom with tiled shower, large open living room/kitchen with gas stove, full-sized brushed steel fridge, two big window seats for napping and reading, Yotul wood burning stove, water cooler, and a lovely 200 sq ft. screened porch with antique black wicker rockers and dining table with captain's chairs. The 60 ft deck runs across the front of the cottage overlooking the lake. The cottage was designed by a Cape Cod architect and is clad the traditional New England-style: hand-made cedar shakes which have weathered to a silver grey. Hand selected fir runs throughout the main cottage, with a rich oak floor. Most important for everyone's feet is that the outside deck is made of ipe, a Brazilian hardwood that does not splinter. No cheap pine or need for tweezers! This is our family treasure.
The sleep cottage is more rustic. A downstairs queen bed with three big windows at your feet overlooking the lake, a small screened porch with wicker chaise, Yotul gas fire stove for cozy nights, and a ladder to the upstairs attic with four twin beds for the kids with windows overlooking the lake.
Public parking is available at the delightful Weslemkoon Marina at the rate of $55 per week. You pay them directly.
There are several places at the lake to rent boats if you do not have your own. Again, the cottage is BOAT ACCESS.
On occasion we can rent for long weekends (3 days min) but these may only be booked two weeks prior to desired date. We are mostly set up for week long renters.
The cottage is boat access only which makes Mackie Bay very private and serene. We also have Crown Land on one side of our property. Rental comes with our dependable 15 ft Lund with a 25hp Evinrude motor. Its a great fishing boat. Fishing, tubing, 2 big hammocks, blueberry picking, a swimming hole on the property with a gentle sloping rock area as well as 17 ft off the end of the dock for skinny dipping and diving, hikes all around the lake, camping at designated locations. Cottage is full of books you have always wanted to read, comics, games, crokinole, puzzles, water floats, craft supplies for little ones and toys. No tv and no dvd. Shhhh: cell phones now seem to work, but there is also a landline phone.
Public boat launch at Weslemkoon Marina. A boat taxi is available at the Marina to take you to the cottage where you pick up our fishing boat. ($47 one way.) Our dock is a covered boat port with space to sun as well as to park boats. Ladder for easy entry. We also have two sit-in kayaks for your use.
