About Michele Park

This is a home that had been our family and we wanted to enjoy it for years to come. We love to visit as a family with our little dog and watch the waves. We love the winter storms, watching those wild clouds come across the Pacific. We love exploring the beach, taking the morning to walk up and down, looking for perfect sand dollars. We love waiting for a really low tide, so we can get to the next beach south. We love to eat out, we love to eat in, we love sleeping and waking to the sound of the surf.

Michele Park purchased this house in 2011

An Amazing Experience!

  • 5 of 5

The Pelican guest house was way beyond our wildest expectations. We rented it for 3 nights as the location for our destination wedding and accommodation for our wedding party of 14, and we were shocked as soon as we arrived at how perfect it was. The house itself was beautiful and was more than large enough for all 14 of us, and the view of the ocean out the wall of windows was breath taking. The back deck is even nicer and more spacious than the pictures suggested, and the beach itself is fantastic. There were gorgeous sunsets every night, and it was much more secluded than nearby Cannon Beach.

Michele was very helpful and accommodating, and we encountered no issues with the house or property. Our experience at the Pelican made our wedding more beautiful and enjoyable than we could have imagined. All of our guests agreed that we need to make this trip a yearly thing. I would highly, highly recommend the Pelican to anyone.

this is a very nice house. 12 ladies were there.

Beds were excellent and the bedding was high quality.

Over all it is a well kept house, however the dishwasher needs repairs.

While we expected to use a Keruig coffee pot, the one that is furnished is not a very quality machine and it was impossible to get it to run correctly (we did read all the instructions).

House was very dusty and there was a toothbrush and used toothpaste on the counter in the downstairs bathroom. We do realize that housekeepers are rushed between renters.

Owner's Response: Aye yah! I am so sorry about the Keurig - I had no idea it was not working. A new one is already on it's way! And rushed cleaners is no excuse for a less-than-spotless home. I will be addressing this immediately. Thank you so much for your comments. They help me keep the place tip-top - today it needs some tweaking! Cheers!

Location and Family Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Four small families spent our Spring Break at the Pelican at Arch Cape. There were 8 adults and 6 children (ages 2-17). The house suited our needs well and the location was PERFECT! With direct beach access we could easily spend the day there and still have access to all the house's amenities and not have to go out for food. Also, the back multi-level deck was perfect for letting the younger kids play in a fenced-in area when we didn't want to be on the beach. We were blessed with sunshine and warm (sunscreen-needed) weather, but it still would have been a great time without the sun.

Because of the age of children and family make ups, we had to split kids into different bedrooms than their parents. This didn't cause a problem for our family, but is something to consider (only one bedroom technically had kid beds in it...). Also, the downstairs basement has a lot of little steps/slopes so it was kind of awkward, but we were only down there for sleeping and spent all our awake time upstairs, at the beach, or on the go.

There are not any shops/restaurants in Arch Cape, so you have to travel a few miles to get amenities or to Seaside (15-20 minutes) for serious grocery shopping. This didn't affect us as we loaded up on groceries on day one and cooked all our meals at the house for the week.

Overall, great location for our families to stay in and provided everything we wanted and needed!

Owner's Response: I'm so pleased your spring break beach get-away was a success. And sunshine to boot! The layout downstairs is a bit unusual, I agree - that is why we have the motion lights so everyone can have a clear view of the two steps and the small ramp leading into the family bedroom. Not tricky once you know the lay of the land - and you are right, it is just a sleeping area. The action is all upstairs our outside! I appreciate your comments.

Perfect retreat

  • 5 of 5

The home is so perfect in every way. The views, the window positions, TWO masters facing ocean, space, seating, beautiful kitchen, 2 separate floors which allows for private time, near shops although fairly remote, clean, well equipped . 9 of us went & all nine feel it's our personal favourite, vacation far .

Clean, great location.

  • 4 of 5

We were a group of several small families, a few adults, and a couple of sweet dogs. We chose to put the families in the bedrooms to make it easier for the little ones to go to bed early; the childfree adults spread themselves about the larger "family" room.

The best feature for us, aside from the super easy access to the beach and incredible views of the sea during this particularly stormy Oregon winter, was the soundproofing. The upstairs bedrooms are adjacent to the main living room and kitchen, yet it was easy to go to bed early while others were still up enjoying themselves. Likewise, the children could watch a video downstairs while the adults enjoyed conversation upstairs.

The house is clean and not cluttered. There is a great music system on the upper floor, a hot tub facing the ocean (we wished the tub could have got a little hotter—I'm sure it's for safety, but it only goes to 104). The fireplace takes duraflame, which is a bit of a bummer if you're looking for wood heat, but we found it cheerful nonetheless. The kitchen is well stocked and clean, though the cabinet faces are suffering some wear, and there is plenty of room to put away your dry goods, which cuts down on the chaos of group living. The dishwasher and washer and dryer were in excellent condition, as were the upstairs bedrooms.

Michele was excellent to deal with—responsive and careful.

We had a lovely time and even got a few sunbreaks and rainbows each afternoon.

Owner's Response: Sun breaks in December - how lucky! Happy the house worked for your group - adults, kids and pooches. Hot tub controls are now limited to only going to 104 degrees - that is considered the maximum safe water temperature, sorry it can't go hotter. Thank you for the review!

Wonderful gathering place

  • 5 of 5

Were lucky to find some days our adult children and their family's could spend a few days together at the Pelican at Arch Cape. This house handles large groups with ease. We had very rainy windy weather and were not able to be outdoors as much as we would have liked to with 5 kids under 11, but that was to be expected for this time of year. The house had everything to cook all our meals and plenty of eating space too. Are planning to come back in the future. although it may just be 2 of us.

Owner's Response: Oh, you stayed on the wettest weekend of the month! We love the weather when it is wicked, but it can be tough on kids to sit inside when it rains and they see the beach RIGHT THERE. Thank you for the review and would love to have you back.
