Puerto Escondido: Puerto Escondido ('Hidden Port' in Spanish) is just that, a hidden treasure untouched by mega-chains of hotels. Come discover it yourself.
The Beaches of Puerto Escondido: There are three main beaches, Playa Principal, Playa Marinero, and Zicatela, close to the main part of town, as well as several other smaller beaches to the west. Playa Principal is the more centrally-located beach. Parallelling the beach is Avenida Perez Gasga, a pedestrian-only street known as the Adoquin. Presiding in the tourist kiosk at the west end of the Adoquin is the legendary Gina the Information Goddess. The Andador Esconico Sea Walk begins at Playa Principal and winds westward along rocky oceanside cliffs. About 2 blocks up the hill from the Adoquin is coastal highway 200 and on the other side of that is the downtown business district where you can find banks, the mercado, etc.
East of Playa Principal is Playa Marinero followed by Playa Zicatela, a long straight beach on the east side of the bay and can be seen from Playa Principal. Zicatela is where the strong waves are that make Puerto Escondido a world class surfing destination.
Location History: The town of Puerto Escondido was established in 1928 as a port for shipping coffee, although the area has been inhabited by indigenous populations for centuries. In the 1960's it was connected to other coastal towns by Highway 200. Tourists began to discover the town and surfers found its beaches. Its importance as a port diminished as coffee shipments began going by truck instead of boat. The port does continue to support commercial fishing activity
We all fell in love with the beaches, the village and the 'off the beaten path feel'.
We knew there and then that we must build a shangri la for us and others to enjoy...
Casa Del Mar was designed by one of the best architects in Mexico. it has an Indonesian ambiance. its tranquil , yet luxurious.
Casa Del Mar was an absolutely stunning property!!! Even better than the pictures. We were there for 10 days which was pure bliss!!! The beach is so peaceful with the crashing waves and hardly any neighbours. The villa is spacious and great for groups. The staff of Miguel and the girls and chef Daniel were top notch!! We ate and drank like royalty. Daniela was so helpful and Nina took care of our every need including setting up surf lessons and arranging for a special celebration night at the villa which included lobster, massive shrimp, steaks and more. We could not ask for a better more relaxing trip!!!
Thank you so much and we can't wait to return!!!!
We stayed there end of April 2014. We were 4 couples and the house was perfect for us. Nina took great care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. Everybody in the house, maids, cook were very nice and perfect. It is very clean, decorated with great taste, beds are very comfortable. Thanks so much for everything we will come back!!
We had the most amazing time at this gorgeous property. Everything was even more beautiful in person. The staff and Daniella were fantastic. We had high expectations, and they were met and exceeded. Our whole group plans to come back in the future. A true gem.
Thank you Daniella!!!
Casa del Mar is an exquisite combination of architectural design and impeccable taste. The villa embodies the nature that surrounds it. It is a sanctuary for wildlife and a botanists dream. Although there is much to see and do in Puerto, both times that I have stayed at CdM, the furthest I wanted to go was the pool or the pristine beach that goes on forever. Whether you are there with just your partner or your entire entourage, when the day comes to leave, you will ask yourself "but why" ? Casa del Mar exceeds your expectations every time and I look forward to returning.
Clean and open spaces. Good distribution of rooms so you do not be disturb.
Housekeeping and Cookers are excellent. We recomend for families or large group of friends.
5 couples went for a week-long vacation, sans kids, and as soon as we stepped foot onto the property were immersed in the tranquility of Casa Del Mar. What you see in the picture is what you get: manicured grounds, comfortable furniture (inside and out), full kitchen, private bathrooms, wi-fi, crystal clear pool, and a soft, sandy beach for miles. The staff was amazing. The food was prepared at the requested time and to the exact specifications. Our rooms were swept, cleaned and tidied every day. Nina, the house representative, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable regarding any request. Boogie boarding was the most fun. The waves were a blast!
