Apartment, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

This downtown apartment is a two bedroom, 1 bath unit that has been totally renovated with stainless appliances, hardwood floors, and slate tile. The open plan between kitchen and living room is great for entertaining. The comfortable living room includes a large flat-panel TV and a charming freestanding gas fireplace. There is a walk-in closet with a washer/dryer, and plenty of closet storage -- including shoe racks.

Our location is ideal in downtown Sandpoint, within walking distance of City Beach, the Marina, all the downtown restaurants, live music, wine bars, and shopping including outdoor gear shops, a bike shop, and lots of gift and antiques shops. In the summer, enjoy Sandpoint's lively farmer's market just down the street with live music, local produce and crafts. Please note that the condo is right downtown, in the heart of everything, which is about as urban as Sandpoint gets! Our guests love the location for its convenience and access, but if you are looking for waterfront or mountain views, this is probably not the place for you!

Did you know Sandpoint has a free local bus? There's a stop only about a block away from our apartment, and you can ride the SPOT bus to the Schweitzer base for a ride to the village, stores in Ponderay, and anywhere else you'd want to go around the Sandpoint area. You can also access bike and walking paths within a block or two of the front door.

And while we offer a great location to walk or bike from, you'll also enjoy off-street parking for your own vehicle giving you freedom to get up to Schweitzer or access more remote hiking areas or day-trip locations.

About Charles Manning

My wife and I lived in this great apartment when we first moved to Sandpoint. it was once a restaurant and we completely refinished it to be a downtown metro-feel apartment that we could enjoy. It's close to great food and bars and it super comfortable. We loved being in the middle of everything downtown in this great small town!

While we lived in the apartment while we re-finished our craftsman house in south Sandpoint. We moved here from Washington DC and before that - San Francisco.

The property is very well maintained and in a great location. Everything is within walking distance from shops and dineing to the beach and water craft rentals. We had a great time.

Great Location, Uncomfortable Pull-Out Bed

You can't beat the location of this condo, as long as you don't mind facing a parking lot. Although the outside of the condo is rather non-descript and difficult to find in the dark, the inside has been nicely remodeled. It was comfortable for three adults, with the exception of the pull-out bed that is in the second bedroom. The mattress is so thin and uncomfortable that my brother had to put it on the floor, which only made it slightly more comfortable for him. I personally don't see how the second bedroom doubling as an office makes much sense for people on vacation. The owners should really consider putting a real bed in the second bedroom.

One other item that luckily did not turn out to be an issue was that we had two cars but the owners only provided one parking pass, and you can't leave your car on the street. I called the owner to get another pass but we never received another one.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay in Sandpoint. It's a very cute town with good restaurants and great skiing.

Spacious and welcoming

Our family loved staying in this centrally located condo in Sandpoint. Very quiet; we couldn't hear the trains that rumble through town several times a day at all! Easy to walk to the waterfront and all of the great restaurants. The kitchen was fairly well appointed, everything was spotlessly clean. Two small details: the hide-a-bed mattress is fairly thin. This was not a problem for our two young boys who were exhausted after solid days of skiing, but it might not be so comfortable for adults. The queen size bed in the other bedroom was perfectly dreamy, though! The other detail is that the living room couch is filled with feathers (the back cushions). If you are allergic to feathers, you will prefer to sit in the comfy chair instead. All in all a great place to stay! It made a very comfortable base for our days of skiing at Schweitzer!

This place was great!! Right in the heart of town. Walking distance to everything and a short drive to the mountain for great skiing. The place it's self was prefect for us, full kitchen great, bed very comfy . Supplied with everything you need. Can't wait to go back . Everyone was so nice

Great downtown location!

I stayed at the "Elegant, Downtown 2-Bdr Apartment" for 4 nights in September. The location is excellent. For two of the days I didn't have a car and was able to walk everywhere -- shops, beach, creek walking trail, farmer's market and restaurants, and more. When I did have a car, I was able to take nice day trips from this central location.

The unit was more than I expected and was stocked with everything I needed. There were even extras like a portable baby crib and a spare diaper - not needed during my stay, but shows how thoughtful the owners are. I especially appreciated the linens - so soft and comfortable.

I would highly recommend staying at this apartment to my family and friends and hope to stay there again.

Sorry ... only 4 Stars

Stayed at this apartment with my daughter and 18 month old grandson for 4 nights. The location is wonderful ... close to restaurants and shops as well as Sandpoint City Beach. Convenient parking at front door. There were plenty of clean fluffy towels and the bedding was clean and comfortable. There were also plenty of extra blankets and pillows. It was nice to have the convenience of a washer and dryer.

I would love to give this property 5 stars but have chosen only 4 stars for the following reasons. When booking VRBO properties, one pays a "cleaning" fee. We arrived at this apartment with a fully loaded dishwasher. Instructions left by Owner tells Tenant to load dirty dishes and run dishwasher at end of stay. Well Owner should empty dishwasher before new Tenant arrives. I am on vacation and object to having to empty a fully loaded dishwasher from a previous tenant. The "cleaning" fee paid to Owner should cover this nonsense. Also, a day after our arrival I noticed the bottom of my grandson's feet were black. Then my daughter and I looked at our feet ... black as well. I assume it was from the smoke and soot from fires in the area but with that much on our feet I question whether the floors were even mopped before our arrival. Also, the rug under the kitchen table had crumbs left for our little guy to pick up and eat! YUK! Once again, a "cleaning" issue. On the surface all looks wonderful but really not as clean as one would hope and expect. The master bedroom has a window with a white shade and a door to outside (dead bolted for security) with a window that has a see-through bamboo shade. At night the headlights of every car that drove by lit up the room. Proper window covering should be considered for privacy and shielding of the light.

Would I recommend this property? Yes, definitely -- but, Owner should seriously consider above comments.

We are very focused on cleaning the Condo to impeccable standards and while we think we do a great job most of the time - it seems we didn't this time. Very sorry! Not an excuse, but it seems that our team that cleans was a bit delayed in being able to clean to the same standard and was worried about telling us so we could delay your check in. Thank you for the thoughtful response - we have made a note and improved our processes to make sure it doesn't happen again. If you're back in Sandpoint, do let us know and we will make it up to you!

Sandpoint is such a great town, and the benefit of being in the heart of it all is that you can take advantage of so much within walking distance: Rent a paddle board or kayak just across First avenue and explore Sand Creek; go for a run along the scenic Ponderay Bay Trail; visit Evans Brothers on Fifth avenue for award-winning coffee; rent a power boat for the day and explore the lake or go fishing; take a bike ride up onto the surrounding trails or do a grueling road-bike workout by riding up Schweitzer Mountain Road; walk to Italian, Meditteranean, or Thai restaurants, or enjoy the local pubs, breweries and wine bars. It's a lot of fun in Sandpoint, and when you stay in the heart of downtown, you can leave your car parked and take advantage of it all!
