About The Owner

I started doing vacation rentals to keep our lake home on Hayden Lake in the family. I have loved the interaction with my guests and added a second home, Riverview in the Pines to our vacation properties several years ago. I retired this year, and my first project was to finish the apartment I had dreamed of. It is on our property of 3 acres with great access to a wonderful part of Coeur d Alene - Cougar Gulch.

It is my greatest hope that your time in 'the nook' will be special and become a great memory.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2011

Why The Owner chose Northern Idaho

I have lived in Coeur d Alene most of my life. It is a unique area and I love sharing my town and my homes with people coming for vacation.

What makes this apartment unique

Wander our meadow, relax by the fire pit, explore our garden. Watch wildlife enjoying the creek and pond.

We are close to the lake, Cougar Nature Preserve and all the events in downtown Coeur d'Alene, Come home to peace and quiet in a rural setting after your activities for the day.

Since I am a long time resident - I am happy to share with you the things that make Coeur d'Alene special. I can recommend restaurants, beaches and activities that will meet your own personal requirements for a great vacation.

Notes:
Unique location, rural but close to Coeur d'Alene, Overlooks creek and meadow. Feed the birds from your deck. The apartment is cozy and well equipped and the available space is expanded by the outside fire pit, picnic table, 5 swings in the trees for children to play, roam and wander. Loft is a wonderful area for kids. I call it a 'camping' spot - 2 twin beds and a projector that makes stars and shooting stars with clouds on the ceiling when it is dark. Kids love it!

The property is really cute and exactly what we needed for a place close to Silver Mountain.

The inside of 'The Nook' was cozy but there really wasn't a creek.

  • 3 of 5

Our first impression upon driving up to the the Nook was "Oh, no this is not what we pictured". Luckily the inside was cute and cozy. The metal roof was great for the nights it rained and the location was quiet and restful. Diana showed up with a plate of chocolate chip cookies our first night which was a nice touch. The kitchen was well equipped and it was nice to have a washer/dryer in the unit. There really is no creek and we could not find the solar lights that led across the "creek" to the fire pit. Even if we could, crossing the "creek" (really an overgrown dry ditch) looked difficult at best. The WiFi was useful but we had no cell service (texts but no phone calls in/out) so that was a pain. Luckily, we were not far from CDA. Be careful with the wood hand railing going up the stairs to the flat - my husband got a nasty, deep splinter in his finger from it. Also, the shower smelled like urine - I think it was the plastic shower curtain - not a big deal but it was not very pleasant. Overall, the Nook worked out okay but don't think we would stay there again.

Loved it!!!

  • 5 of 5

Spent 5 nights and the nook was perfect! The owner is very helpful and accommodating. Loved sitting on the deck listen to the sounds of nature, especially the elk. We had a couple horses in a pasture above, wild turkey, quail/pheasants.... and a few elk viewed on the drive up. Great location away fro the hustle and bustle but close enough to enjoy both Cour D'Alene and Spokane.

In the woods, yet close to town

  • 5 of 5

Excellent value and location. It was only 5 min from town but had a woodsy feel. In fact, watch for deer on the road. Great for the two of us. Can sleep more, but it might be crowded. Large kitchen and dining. Smaller living area with futon as a couch. Well equipped and host lives next door if you need anything. I gave it 5 stars because we like rustic and unique. If you are looking for fancy and luxurious, you need to look in a different price range :).

Oasis in the trees

  • 5 of 5

This place was a gem hidden away in the trees away from the hustle and bustle of the city but only 5 minutes from the lake for water activities. We had 5 adults in our party. The futon was a little uncomfortable and the loft would only really be good for younger children that are more able to climb the bars up to the loft. However there was a large nice kitchen with a washer and dryer and a kitchen table to eat at. Also had a balcony that was enjoyable. Diana had baked fresh cookies and had a great suggestion for dinner. Overall for the one night we made it work and enjoyed our visit.

Excellent rental

Very affordable rental in CdA. It is quiet and cozy. We stayed for 5 nights for the Ironman event, and was perfect for what we needed. Very close to transition (about 5 min drive).
