This location is perfect for foodies like us - with 3 bakeries within 2 blocks, cheese shops, butchers, organic food markets and a twice weekly farmers market steps away at the Bastille. Also we can walk to the Seine for summer sunsets in about 5 minutes, and be at the metro in 2 minutes. Place Des Vosges around the corner is an added bonus!
We keep coming back to this apartment for several reasons: location, comfort, cleanliness, quiet, and attention to details.
1. You can't beat the location for transportation: Right in the middle of the Marais, on the #1 Metro line between Bastille and St. Paul stops. (The top Paris sites are near the #1) and convenient buses outside the front door!
2. A safe, sweet neighborhood: great cafes and restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Or less. Shop like a local for groceries.
3. The apartment is like staying at your trendy best friend's home: A super bathroom with a shower and huge bathtub and 2 sinks! A kitchen with nice plates, flatware and glasses (not cheap Ikea stuff). Fine furniture with a mix of contemporary and antiques. Great linens in the bedroom. The couch converts to an extra bed and is more comfortable than many regular beds! And bathrobes! Beautiful pillows and curtains remind you of a fancy hotel, not a rental.
4. This place is quiet. Incredibly quiet. And super clean.
5. The owner is very responsive and helpful. The welcome binder has instructions on how to use the washer and the dishwasher, plus everything else in the apartment. The list of recommended restaurants is a nice touch. So are the numerous Paris tour books others have left behind.
We've stayed in a number of VRBO places in Europe and the US. This is by far the best. The only downside of staying here is wishing you didn't have to leave.
It has everything one might need; the owner is very thoughtful, and there are lots of nice touches, both in decor and in provisions for a comfortable stay. While it can be a bit dark, especially in December, since it is on an inner courtyard, that also means it's wonderfully quiet. With great bakery, cheese shop, wine stores, fruit stand, and more just across the street, close to both Bastille and St Paul metro stations, and a ten minute walk to the Seine and yet another line (Sully-Morland) - or just a great base to explore the Marais shops and restaurants. This was our second stay in this apartment, and we were not disappointed.
Wow, this was my first time to Paris and we couldn't have picked a more perfect place to call home for our vacation. From the moment we booked, Alexis & team made sure we had everything before our arrival and had a lay of the land. The flat location is two minute walk from the Bastille metro stop and every restaurant right outside of the door was amazing!! One restaurant not to be missed is Chez Mademoiselle!!
Note, I'd heard the stories of the rude Parisians but we didn't find one and EVERYONE was over the top nice and hospitable.
Au revoir et a bientot
The apartment was perfect for my husband and myself. It was beautifully decorated and comfortable in size. We loved the full size shower; a rarity in Paris! We also appreciated the pull out sofa in the living room - made it easy to wake up at night and not disturb the other person. Although we didn't use it, the kitchen was fully stocked, and there were thoughtful extras - plug converters, a stand of umbrellas, a bottle of wine waiting to welcome us. All the details involved in the rental were well organized and executed perfectly. We will be happy to rent this apartment again the next time we're in Paris.
Location Location Location ; Le Marais - I do not think there is a better place to stay in Paris. Walk to the Metro, numerous shops in the neighborhood, great cafes, near charming Place Des Vosges, go running along the nearby Seine - the list goes on and on. We did not feel like tourists but more like Parisians! The apartment is spectacular. The online photos of the apartment are quite accurate. Very clean and comfortable - a home away from our home. Alexis left us detailed instructions on how to use everything from the modern appliances to the internet phone (great to call the US). She also left a list of restaurants, which we did take her up on, along with recommendations of things to do and places to shop (we received this from her in advance of arriving which helped in planning our stay). She was extremely helpful in responding to our questions prior to our stay. It was really nice to have a shop right next door for some necessities (and the shop keeper is quite friendly especially after telling him we are a guest of the "American Girl" from next door). We would definitely stay in this apartment during our next trip to Paris and I strongly recommend this apartment for your stay. I can assure you will be as satisfied as we were.
We loved the location of the apt! On advice from Alexis we went to the Sunday market for cheese, eggs, bread and flowers. It was a bit noisy from neighbors - but this is city living. The bed was very comfortable and the large bathroom made getting ready in the morning easy. Within just a few blocks of the metro station. We'll certainly stay here again should we find ourselves in Paris!
