Overview

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 6

Just 1 block from the beach on beautiful Venice Island sits Venice Sandpiper, our spacious house with a huge lanai, grassy yard, HDTV, and all the modern conveniences. Come experience island living the laid-back way at our ultra-comfortable house!

There is plenty of room for the whole group at Venice Sandpiper, located on a spacious corner lot. The Gulf is directly to our west, and Roberts Bay to the north. This is beach living at its very best!

Before you explore the house, chances are you’ll linger in our long, open lanai. Running nearly the length of the house, this screened-in area is your go-to spot for the perfect blend of indoor comfort and outdoor excitement. The breeze is balmy, the air tinged with salt, and the birds audible out here, where we have set up tables and chairs for casual dining and seating. Great any time of day or night, it’s private yet open to the beautiful Florida weather.

Indoors, the house is well furnished and welcoming, beginning with the big living room. Here you’ll find an HDTV (with VCR and DVD player) surrounded by enough ultra-comfy couches for the whole group to stretch out and get comfortable. Or, if music is your preference, pop a CD into the player and add a soundtrack to your vacation!

Adjacent to the living room is the dining room, boasting a big table that easily seats 6. (Monopoly after dinner, anyone?!) This is also a great place to set up your laptop – you have free wireless Internet at Venice Sandpiper – or get the kids busy with drawing or Legos. After all, the lanai is going to lure you out for most of your meals, and Venice’s great restaurants will probably take care of the rest. Make the dining room your all-purpose room for seashell collections, jigsaw puzzles, and brochures from all the sightseeing attractions you want to visit on this vacation.

If you do plan on doing a little home cooking while you’re here, you’ll be delighted with the kitchen at Venice Sandpiper. Sleek, smoothly tiled, fitted with wooden cabinetry, and stocked with all the cookware, dishes, and utensils you could ask for, it’s a pleasure to use! Just stock up on groceries and you’re good to go!

But the best part of Venice Sandpiper may just be the master suite, an enormous room you’ll look forward to revisiting every evening. Boasting a queen-sized four-poster bed, plush reading sofa, and his-and-her nightstands, it is beautifully decorated and so roomy! And the en-suite bathroom is thoroughly contemporary, with an easy-access walk in shower.

Two more bedrooms ensure that everyone gets a great night’s sleep at our house. The second bedroom also contains a queen-sized bed, along with a small TV and plenty of natural sunlight from windows in several directions. This room shares a full bathroom (with both shower and tub option) with the third bedroom, containing 2 twin-sized beds. Light and cheery, the third bedroom is a great place for kids, friends, or grandparents!

At Venice Sandpiper, you’ll find all of the comforts of home, including a washer and dryer, all the linens and towel sets you need for every bed and bath, and plenty of off-street parking. This is such a comfortable house to spend time in!

And the location simply couldn’t be better. You’re just a moment’s walk from the beach, with all the glories of Venice – the pier, the downtown shopping area, Brohard Paw Park – just a short drive away. The sunrises and sunsets are gorgeous here, the weather is dreamy, and the neighbors are friendly! Come stay at Venice Sandpiper the next time you’re on Venice Island, and we predict you’ll make it your go-to vacation spot for many years to come!

Sorry,I will not stay in this property again nor recommend it;it was FULL of of pet hair.Even in the dresser drawers!Everyone in our group had a raging allergy/sinus reaction/infection.BUT Vacation Rental Pros has other properties that are beautifully maintained,we have booked with them in the past and have existing reservations for the future. They are a terrific rental agency.

Disappointed

  • 2 of 5

The property was spacious and the furnishings more than adequate for this old Florida home but we were disappointed with the level of service on several matters. 1. The website for Sandpiper says there is a flat screen HDTV but the TVs supplied were not HD. 2. The washing machine and air conditioning both failed while we were there and each took a week to repair. The owner had some kind of service agreement to repair appliances but the service company was awful about responding to problems. 3. There was no remote garage door opener. 4. The alarm system and door bell did not work. 5. A screen on the back patio had been removed and not replaced. This property has a great location and our rating would have been four stars but for the problems noted above.

Great location.

  • 3 of 5

Location is great - easy access to beach, shops and restaurants. Quiet neighborhood. House was clean, but had definite wear and tear - broken/missing tiles in the kitchen covered with a rug; carpet that had been shredded and covered with a towel; screen missing from lanai. Old, uncomfortable mattresses in bedrooms. Bring your own pillows. Having a yard was a benefit since we brought our dog - but it was more weeds than grass, and sandspurs got in his paws every time he went out. Overall, a little less than expected, but not bad. Best part is the location.

Spacious, clean, renovated, great location.

  • 4 of 5

We were surprised by the spaciousness of this home - lots of room for everyone, even if you had 6 people. It was clean, uncluttered, and seems to have been recently renovated in key areas (mainly bathrooms).

Despite some of the older reviews, there ARE two full bathrooms, and 3 real bedrooms - one HUGE master bedroom with a full bath (shower, no tub), and a suite of 2 bedrooms (one with a queen bed, the other with 2 smaller beds) with it's own full bathroom. There is a very large living room, a decent kitchen, and dining area. The large screened-in porch overlooks the back yard. There is a garage with washer/drier and bits of outdoor equipment.

The location couldn't be better. It is 2 short blocks to the Venice beach entrance. It's also a nice (but long) walk to the Venice town center, along shaded Venice Avenue.

Only 3 things bump this rental down from a 5-star rating: First, the scarcity of basic supplies in the house. Other units we've rented in recent history have had paper towels, basic condiments in the fridge this sort of things handy. There was some of this for us - dishwashing detergent, shower supplies, that sort of thing, but it was pretty sparse outside of the bathroom. If these things are in the garage somewhere, we didn't find them. Also, there are some minor repairs needed - one of the screened-in porch panels lacks screen, and so this is really an open porch. Various knobs are loose or missing, and some broken/missing tiles in the kitchen are just covered in a small rug. Lastly, there is a lot of evidence of mice (droppings) in the garage, and we heard odd noises at night. These down-sides are relatively minor, and ought to be easily rectified.

This year we appreciated the much better cable package and that some screening was repaired on the lanai (not sure why only some)...Ideally it would be nice to see better carpet in at least the living/dining area. The livingroom set is basically pretty much without springs and not very comfortable. At the very least, the owner really should replace the battered teflon cooking ware. Yes, it is a spacious house in a great location, but let's show a little more interest in teanats with some sprucing up.

Great location!

  • 5 of 5

The location of the Sandpiper House is awesome! It is a very quiet neighborhood and one walking minute to the beach! Downtown is super charming and the people very friendly. Enjoyed eating at the Daiquiri Deck and Sharky's...all within walking distance. Had fun looking for shark teeth! Even though the home is older, it is well maintained. The only downfall would be pet stains on the carpeting from previous renters. Would recommend getting them professionally cleaned. However, we would stay here again in the future! :)
