The moment you first arrive, you’ll simply fall in love with the home's beautiful surroundings - the front of the house looks out onto Chelsea Parade, which was designated in the late 1800’s as a military parade ground, showcasing several small monuments devoted to those who have served this country. Norwich Free Academy and the Slater Art Museum are also right by the house, as well as Park Congregational Church, which has charming church bells that chime the hours and a delightful selection of hymns played on the bells at noon.
Inside, this home is even more impressive! You’ll love the spacious elegance throughout its impeccably furnished interior, especially in the large ballroom. For your entertainment, the billiards room has a small yet very enjoyable pool table and the library offers a sizable selection of page-turners, along with a lovely arched Victorian-era window. The front bedrooms, called the French and Chinese Chippendale rooms, receive an abundance of glorious natural sunlight, while the other 3 rooms – the Queen Anne, Hitchcock, and Canopy bedrooms – get a little less sun, making them great for sleeping in late on slow-paced vacation days.
Look forward to preparing delicious meals in the massive fully equipped kitchen, stocked with every culinary appliance you could possibly need. Gather in the adjoining formal dining room to enjoy your home-cooked dinner around the expansive table with seating for 12, decorated in gorgeous banded wood for a very elegant dining experience. Adjacent to the dining room is the Gold Parlor, a beautifully sophisticated room with an American Empire style of décor. After dinner, retreat to the Green Parlor, a very comfortable room decorated in the Chippendale style and featuring a large flat screen TV with DVD player.
This exquisite house is centrally located right next to Chelsea Parade, offering easy access to practically everything the area has to offer! Several attractions are even within walking distance, such as the Slater Art Museum, which is located right across the street. Another notable attraction close by is the Leffingwell Inn and Museum, a historic house depicting colonial life in the surrounding area. There are 6 golf courses within 30 minutes of the property, the closest being only 10 minutes away in Norwich. Lake of Isles, River Ridge, Stonington, Mohegan Sun Country Club, and the Pequot Golf Course are all nearby as well.

This house is full of history and charm. It's old and quirky, but comfortable, spacious and
perfect for entertaining. This is our second time renting this home and we'll be back!
The house had a lot of wonderful things. Lots of room for all to enjoy. We were there with a group of Girl Scouts and we did use the BALL ROOM to have a great time. Yes it is a work in progress.
The location was good very easy to get to the highways for day trips etc.
Some of the downside was the way things were prepared for our stay. No towels were out, no hand soap in any of the bathrooms, extra toilet paper. The rugs were dirty to say the least, ball room had not been touched for awhile! When this was brought up to the owner was told you are renting a house not staying in a hotel!! The BIGGEST problem were the little ants in the kitchen they got into our food for which we had to toss it out. Yes the owner to refund us some money towards the food.
Wish the owner good luck with her place.
We loved the Teel House. It is a lovely historic home with all of the charm one would expect of a New England Estate. We were pleasantly surprised to find that despite the age of the building there was NO mold or mildew. The home is beautifully furnished with antiques from the region and the rooms are large and bright. The kitchen has been recently remodeled with modern appliances. The home is outfitted with a dining room table that seats at least 12. The back porch was lovely and we enjoyed both morning coffee and evening cocktails together on the porch. The bedrooms were large and airy, and the beds were comfortable. Having 3 bathrooms in an old home like this was a great surprise. We really enjoyed our stay.
The only reason we didn't give it a 5 was because the cleaning staff did not do a great job preparing the home for our arrival. While the renovations are not complete, we did not find that to be an issue at all, and are looking forward to visiting in the future to see the evolution of the remodel. Also note, this home is not handicap accessible. As with most homes this age, there are steps at both the front and back entrance and no bedrooms on the first floor.
If you are looking for a modern home, this is not the house for you, but if you understand that homes of this era have their own special charm, you will love this place. We do!
Big house with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms (although one of the four bathrooms listed was unusable which was a bit disappointing and a challenge). Some of the furniture needs a little upkeep, but the house worked out well for our needs and the owner was very good to work with on all matters. Nice central location.
My co-workers and I stayed at the Teel House for our girls wine tasting weekend. The house is definitely aged but it gives it great character. The location is perfectly placed and the yard with a tree swing was just and added bonus! Not to mention the affordable price! Definitely recommend!!!!! We are already planning a trip back for next year!!!!
