About the property

1 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 2

Paradise Found - Wagner Hill Cottage is a welcoming private retreat. The house was designed after an English cottage. Built with local wood and stone, it feels organic and natural. The cottage is located on 40 private acres of woods and open fields.

The cottage offers a couple’s private getaway with a clean, contemporary interior and total privacy. The 40 acre property includes 4 large fields separated by 20 acres of woods. Numerous trails offer relaxing walks as well as snowshoeing in the winter. The side patio includes a stone exterior fireplace which is perfect for evening fires. A fully-stocked woodshed off the patio has all the firewood and kindling you'll need.

The single bedroom is fitted with a queen bed. The cottage has a fully-equipped kitchen with washer/dryer, microwave and dishwasher. There is a dining area, a living room with a wood stove, an outside gas grill, and a large outdoor shower. The 6’X 6’ outdoor shower is all wood construction and has shelves and wooden hooks. The bathroom has an inside shower equipped with 3 shower heads including a rain head.

The entire cottage is available for guest use along with 40 private acres of fields, woods, and trails.

During Spring of 2016 the United States National Park Service added Wagner Hill Cottage to their list of lodging facilities for the Upper Delaware Scenic & Recreational River.

There is also wireless Wi-Fi service.

We live in a separate house on the property and are available if needed. If you need help starting a wood fire in either the outside fireplace or the interior wood stove, we're here.

Other Things to Note: The kitchen includes dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, coffee maker, toaster oven, refrigerator with ice maker, as well as standard appliances. The patio has a gas grill and there is a window air conditioner.

Well behaved pets are allowed if you purchase the Property Damage Protection insurance through HomeAway at the time of booking.

Beautiful getaway

  • 5 of 5

My significant other and I visited the cabin the weekend before Christmas. The scenic aspect of this beautiful property was breathtaking. We were greeted by Tom and Merry and shown the cabin. They even greeted us with brownies and champagne! They were incredibly attentive to our needs. There was a good amount of snow the entire weekend and Tom was constantly plowing the driveway for our safety, and even shoveled out my car! I have never seen such wonderful hospitality and such caring individuals. The house was immaculately clean and decorated perfectly. I will most definitely be back. This is a perfect getaway for those who need to relax for a few days. Thank you Tom and Merry!!

A Beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Wagner Hill Cottage. The cottage is beautiful and cozy. The abundance of windows allows you to view the their beautiful property. It was immaculately clean and comfortable. Merry and Tom are great. Tom greeted us when we arrived and answered any questions we had. They had brownies and champagne waiting for us. They are close by if needed, yet they give you all the privacy you need. The town of Calicoon NY is a nice little town with some great restaurants. Route 97 in NY is called the scenic bypass. It has the most beautiful views. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life this is the place to be. We already booked to come back in the summer.

Secluded getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was exactly what my husband and I needed; get away from distractions and reconnect in a quiet, beautiful place. The cottage is cozy and just the right size for 2 people. Loved the woodstove, the heated floors, and the windows! The snow was an added bonus. Thanks, Tom & Merry, for sharing your property with us!

Peaceful & relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was perfect! Very cozy and tastefully done. We loved the wood burning stove and all of the windows. Tom and Merry are so nice and do the extra things to make you feel welcome, at home and pampered. We enjoyed hiking on the property and exploring the little town of Callicoon NY. We will definitely be back!

If they had a TV with at least local channels, it would have been perfect!

The property was beautiful! We had a relaxing visit. They welcomed our dog maddie with open arms. Would definitely go there again.

Owner's Response: We enjoyed having these guests and their cute dog Maddie stay at the cottage. When we were outside talking, we shared a magic moment when 2 huge bald eagles soared overhead. As stated in our listing the cottage has a TV (27", hi-def flat screen), a DVD player (Blue-Ray, Wi-Fi connection, Pandora, Netflix compatible), and DVD library (about 25 DVDs). Several guests have brought their Roku sticks for streaming video through our wireless router. Cable is not available in our area and we installed an antenna to try to get local channels. However, because the TV transmitters are about 50 miles away and the terrain is mountainous, reception was spotty at best and not reliable. Thanks for the input and we hope to see you again.
