About June Creamer

I grew up in Maine residing for the first few years of my youth at a lobster pound that my father and uncle operated in Sorrento. My siblings and I spent many hours on the surrounding rocky beach areas exploring tide pools at low tide and developing a love and appreciation for the ocean. The family moved to Mt Desert island in the late 1960's and my father established a business in downtown Bar Harbor. I grew up on the island and spent many of my adult years working at that family business before it was sold in 2000. Though I no longer live in Maine, I am drawn back to the ocean and the unique beauty of Acadia National Park several times a year. I really enjoy having the opportunity to host other visitor's trips to this beautiful region by providing both quality lodgings and information based on my personal knowledge of the area.

June Creamer purchased this cottage in 2015

Why June Creamer chose Downeast and Acadia

Upon first seeing this property, I was taken with its bright and cheery personality--wonderful qualities for a vacation home. Its location and quality are comparable to my other property and will be an option for those who are looking for facilities that are nearby for larger parties or several families traveling together who want separate accommodations.Or, for those who periodically ask if we have any other properties comparable to when it isn't available.

Being from this area and having worked in downtown Bar Harbor for many years, I appreciate the appeal of having a restful atmosphere to return to after a day of hectic activity in order to rejuvenate for the next day's excursions. This is the type of home and location that I personally would choose for a visit to this region.

What makes this cottage unique

In addition to being close to Mt Desert Island, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, and the other island communities, this property is also equidistant to Ellsworth where the superior grocery shopping is to be found. For those interested in seafood, there are a number of lobster pounds to be found on Rt. 3 just 5 minutes from the cottage. Though the ocean is not visible through the woods from the property, it is actually only about 1,000 feet from the shoreline. Just a few feet down the street is an open field with a view of Western Bay and the "mountains" of Acadia National Park, indicating the cottage's proximity to the ocean.

All the Hotel amenities with the comfort of home!

  • 4 of 5

We were pleasantly surprised by this home. Pictures do not do it justice. Starting from the best Welcome Basket filled with some of Maine's staples.

Anything you needed this house had. From a Ninja, waffle maker, PS4 game system(which we never used but could have) down to the little necessities(toilet paper, soap and toiletries)this house had everything.

It was close enough to the mountains and Bar Harbor but far enough away to enjoy the stars with no light pollution!

The gazebo was our favorite place to hang out(mosquitoes were abundant and hungry)at night.

We have stayed in many homes from HomeAway.com and have never had everything supplied by the owner. She thought of everything. If I would have known, I would have packed a lot less!

We truly loved this place and would definitely go back!

Serene Setting

  • 5 of 5

Loved staying at the Oak Point Cottage, it is a beautiful house with all the comforts of home! It is located close to one of our favorite stops in Bar Harbor the Trenton Lobster Pound! Nestled in trees with a beautifully furnished screened in pagoda to enjoy your summer nights without the annoyance of unwanted pests!

Oak Point Cottage/ Maine trip

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for us (4 adults and 2 teens). I was concerned about it being a little far away from Acadia NP and Bar Harbor, but it was an easy drive to these places and then also good shopping (groceries) in the other direction. We loved the well-equipped kitchen and really appreciated the basket filled with all kinds of goodies -- we used several of the items during our stay (pancake mix, doughnut mix, peach/whiskey bbq sauce, etc.) -- it was a pleasant surprise -- thank you so much! (We could have used a couple more mixing bowls) I loved the tiffany-style lamps throughout the house, the appliances, the furniture, ....!

Bar Harbor is a fun little town -- there's so much to explore. We took the Nature & Sightseeing Cruise with Bar Harbor Whale Watch Co. (no whale watching due to fog that day) and we really enjoyed it -- it was fun and informative and they worked hard to make it worthwhile in spite of the fog. We found some of the store merchants to be a little less friendly than expected.

The scenery and general "feel" of the whole area is so nice! We loved our biggest hike in ANP -- Sand Beach parking --> Beehive/The Bowl --> Gorham Mountain --> the Park Loop Road --> back to Sand Beach. We also enjoyed just driving around the western part of Mount Desert Island and seeing the small communities there- -- Bass Harbor, Bernard, etc.. We definitely fell in love with this part of Maine and would spend more time given the opportunity!

The lobster, of course, was great. Downeast Lobster Pound in Trenton seemed like a true local experience -- a laid back. no frills kind of place -- we loved it!

So ... we loved our trip to Maine and would highly recommend it! Oak Point Cottage was a great place for us to stay!

This lovely accommodation is close to everything, yet in a quiet location especially suited to those who would like to return to peace and quiet after a full day of activities. There is a wide selection of activities to be enjoyed in the Acadia region--something for everyone. In addition to the spectacular beauty of the National Park, the quaint and historic communities of the island, and approximately 120 miles of hiking trails and carriage roads, there are wonderful destinations nearby that are great for day trips (i.e. Schoodic Peninsula, Stonington, Camden/Rockland, Campobello Island, and so forth). Within close proximity of the cottage are grocery shopping, gas stations, lobster pounds, and the Chamber's Visitors Center.
