Disappointed!

  • 3 of 5

The grounds and view were lovely. We stayed in the smaller cabin which was pleasant and clean although to us not worth the same fee as the larger cabin. The boat lift, a savior. The problems.... there wasn't internet service as promised. This was a necessity for us and made the trip very in convenient! Alyson did call someone to repair it, however it never did become reliable. Additionally, the algae bloom on the lake made the water unsafe to swim in. (Beaches were closed. ) We do not expect that to be in the owner's control however we did contact her prior to our trip to inquire about the algae as lake activities were our primary interest. (fishing, swimming, tubing, boating) We stressed our safety concerns and were assured that it was fine and not unsafe. Then why were the beaches closed and all advised not to go in the water? Ultimately it left us feeling tricked instead of relaxed!

Owner's Response: We are always concerned when a guest is not happy. Unfortunately, they were the only guests to have trouble with the internet. It could have been due to multiple factors, too many devices (they had 14 devices they were trying to operate), slow speeds, etc. I was told they are used to very fast speeds in their hometown which is not offered in our area. I did everything I could to rectify the situation. The day they arrived I very generously offered to refund their money as soon as it was clear to them that the internet was not satisfactory for their use. They opted to stay. When Russell contacted me about the conditions of the lake the water was clear. I had children swimming in the lake and dogs. No one had a problem. I have no control over the lake nor anything Sylvan Beach does. It did not stop Russell from fishing and boating everyday. I am not in business to trick people. I find that comment insulting and rude. They were the most unpleasant people to have ever stayed here and I would not want them back under any circumstances. I refrained from writing a negative review about them but they jumped to write one about me as soon as I was no longer able to review them. That is a very tricky and dishonest thing to do. If they want all the comforts of their OWN home that is where they should stay.

We had a great stay at this cabin! Alyson was super accommodating. She made sure we had everything we needed and more! The view is incredible and the cabin is very comfortable. My husband and I stayed here with our dog and hope to make it back again soon! It truly felt like a home away from home!

A beautiful place to stay . Clean and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Allison was very nice. The cabin was everything I had hoped for. Clean and comfortable with great views of the lake. My party had two boats and two pickup trucks and we had plenty of room to park. We also cooked our own meals every night, the kitchen was very well equipped. We will be back to stay in the future.

Great Location, Great View, Comfy Cottage

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay and being adult only was a big plus. Cabin is somewhat rustic and has a low ceiling in the living area but the view was wonderful. The owners were quick to respond to any issues we had and it was obvious they want happy customers. There was plenty of parking for our truck and trailer and room to turn around.

There are improvements to the property in progress that will only make it nicer for future guests.

Don't hesitate to book these cottages!
