Overview

About the property

4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, Sleeps 10

Located beachfront in Ponte Vedra, Morning Star offers breathtaking sunrise and sunset views. And because this big, sunny house offers separate upstairs and downstairs living quarters, it's a great place for a big group or 2 families traveling together!

Morning Star sits right behind the dunes on the beach and includes a private wooden boardwalk leading over the lush natural greenery and down to the sand. (There's even a gazebo along the way -- a great place to bring a picnic, camera, and binoculars!) Best of all, one entire side of the house is framed by a long deck with indescribable panoramic views of sand, sea, and sky!

Stand out on the deck at dawn and watch the sunrise before your eyes, streaking the sky with warm color. (Sunset is pretty terrific here too -- from Morning Star, you can watch it sink toward the horizon over Guana Park!) Count the pelicans soaring into dive-bomb for fish in the waves, and watch the little shore birds play chicken with the surf. Stroll down to the beach and make yours the very first footprints of the day . . . and then, if the tide is low, look for shells washed in by the waves. You'll feel as though you own the entire beach and the Atlantic Ocean, too!

There's space for casual dining out on the oceanfront deck, as well as plenty of comfortable seating. Special any time of day, the deck is everyone's favorite spot at Morning Star!

Step indoors through the sliding glass doors and you find yourself in the living room of Morning Star. The new carpet feels heavenly on hot " beach feet," the chairs and sofa are very soft, and the big new HDTV with DVD player encourages you to enjoy some downtime in front of the screen. Chances are, the kids will flop right down on the carpet with their toys. It's as good a time as any to enjoy a frosty drink and a few quiet moments indoors. .

When you wake up, refreshed from your nap, wander in the direction of the kitchen to think about dinner. The living and dining areas at Morning Star are linked, and you'll love our large, roomy, sun-splashed dining table ready to accommodate 8. This corner of the house gets southern light and has gorgeous ocean views from behind the plantation-shuttered windows. An elegant chandelier completes the picture. What a great place for a big family meal!

The kitchen is just alongside the dining room, decorated in white so you can see just how spotless and well maintained it is. The window over the sink will have your group fighting to do the dishes -- it offers a great sunset view! However, at Morning Star nobody need bother about washing up -- the dishwasher will handle all that! Our kitchen is fully stocked with cookware and dishes and has all the time-saving appliances you might need. Coffeemaker, microwave, blender, ice maker -- everything is waiting here!

On the far side of the kitchen is a breakfast nook with another good-sized table bathed in natural light. This is a great area to play games, work puzzles, and keep the kids occupied with paper and markers while dinner is being prepared.

And when it's time for bed, everyone will be delighted with the layout of Morning Star. Upstairs is the master suite, with a queen-sized bed, flat-screen, en-suite bath, and door leading out to the oceanfront deck. A second bedroom upstairs contains 2 twin beds, with a half-bath serving the living and dining area.

Downstairs you will find 2 more bedrooms: one with a full-sized bed, the other with a single and a trundle. One full bathroom is on this floor as well, convenient to both rooms. Beach access is super-easy from downstairs, too!

At Morning Star, you'll find all linens and towels fresh and ready, as well as a washer and dryer to keep all your vacation clothes clean. Feel free to use our barbecue grill. We've tried to think of everything to make your stay fun and easy. You're going to love it here: just 15 minutes north of St. Augustine, but so beautifully quiet and private! Book your vacation here today!

This property has optional access to the prestigious 5 Diamond resort The Ponte Vedra Inn & Club.

DISGUSTING!!!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!

  • 1 of 5

For the price they charge the view is NOT worth it! The house was in such DISGUSTING state when my family and I arrived. There were cockroaches everywhere!!! Dead bugs found all over floor and IN THE BED!!! When we arrived we found pubic hairs in master bathroom. There was literally a chunk of hair hanging from the stair window. The windows are so dirty that from inside the house you cannot even enjoy the views outside. The towels they provided us were used and dirty. Dishes and cups appeared very unclean. We ended up taking every dish and cup out and running it through the wash. When we called housekeeping to correct the issue they jerked me around forever on the phone. Then when they finally arrived to clean (2 hours later then they said and in the middle of our stay) my family and I had to stay outside out of their way as they cleaned. Meaning we payed for the house and for a solid hour plus we were not allowed in! HUGE INCONVENIENCE! Then the house was not any better after they came to "correct" their mistake. The pull out bed in living was broken so they lied about beds available. The A/C vents throughout the house leak water. So several times we would walk under one and have it drip water on us otherwise it just drips onto the carpet (potential for mold). Dust everywhere! My sister has terrible asthma and was struggling with the cleanliness. Her asthma was exacerbated every night (when we are at the house) then would clear up during the day (while we were at a the beach). The fire place is broken and they didn't even bother picking up the broken glass. There was old crackers and dead bugs found in fire place. Wifi did not work the whole time. We called and they sent out tech support. Tech support claimed to have "corrected" the issue, yet no one's cell phone or laptop would connect the whole stay. Also, the house is not even white! These pictures must be old. The balcony, gazebo and stairs are red and the house is an off white/yellow. Will not recommend this place to anyone!

About what I expected.

  • 3 of 5

The property is about 10 miles outside of St. Augustine along the conservation preserve. The house has seen better days, but was serviceable. As long as you keep in mind that you are paying for the view and not a 5 star property then this rental will do just fine. Several of the wall outlets and a couple of the overhead lights wouldn't work even after I found a box of spare light bulbs and swapped them out. While you are at the beach and electronics should not be your first concern, we did want basic internet and cell phone service. The living room is pretty much a dead zone for both from no service to 1 bar. At other times the whole house lost internet service. I would recommend this property for rent, just be aware of the limitations of it. It does look like the owners have been doing some work to it recently so perhaps this is a newly acquired rental for them.

The beach was excellent but the accommodations were very old and dilapidated.

  • 3 of 5

The accommodations could not really hold what they say. Maybe 7 adults if one wants to sleep downstairs in the trundle bed. The bathrooms were out of date.

Property Not As Advertised

  • 1 of 5

We were disappointed to arrive and see the dock/walkway to the beach washed out by Hurricane Matthew. This was a major selling point to our family when researching homes and we were never notified that it was broken. Also, we have small children and it was a hazard to have to have them running around. The TV Dish cable did not work in any room during our stay. We notified management on the day we checked in and we were not contacted on how to fix it. We have a family full of huge football fans and were unable to watch any of the big games during Thanksgiving.

The outside garbage can and inside trash can were full of trash when we arrived. The dishwasher is leaking moldy water onto the kitchen floor and multiple persons slipped when walking on the floor as a result. The coffee table leg and dining room table chair leg were broken when we arrived.

After sending 2 emails we have never heard back from the property manager. We had a seamless reservation process, so we were very surprised to see the property in such bad condition. We love this beach, the community and despite these setbacks hope to return to the area.

Little overpriced for this average property

  • 3 of 5

The property is a Bronze property which means that it is highly used but not well maintained. The carpet had stains in the hallway. The furniture is well worn. The deck needs a little TLC to get rid of some rotten railing and nails that are coming out of the boards. The unit is not close enough to make use of the "amenities" so the amenity fee was a waste of money. On a bright note, the unit is "nice" and had all of the appliances (blender, toaster, microwave, coffeemaker) that we needed. And it did have a garage that we could use for one car since parking is a bear. Again, not a bad unit but not as pristine as the pictures on the website.
