We are in the perfect location. The house is on a quiet residential street that is just 3 blocks away from over a dozen bars, restaurants and grocery stores with delivery options. It is also a 10 minute drive away from all the monuments and museums that DC has to offer, Eastern Market, Chinatown, and the U.S. Capitol building.
The home is a 10-15 minute walk to both the Union Station and NoMa Metro stops. There are also public buses in the neighborhood that go directly to popular DC areas such as the National Mall, Chinatown, Georgetown and the Washington Convention Center. Bikeshare rentals, Zipcars, Lyfts and Ubers are readily available.
We stayed here with our big family and traveled to the DC sites by walking to the subway station and taking the train everyplace we wanted to go. As other reviewers have said, the showers are very small. The owner was very helpful and responsive. We were there during record heat in the city. The only room that did not cool to the temp we wanted was the master bedroom. We asked for a fan for the room and she promptly responded and delivered a fan which made it much more comfortable for us. I would recommend this property to anyone touring DC.
Our stay way quite enjoyable. The house was nice and comfortable. Parking was a little tough. However, this house was for us within walking distance to a few restaurants, a grocery store and the National Mall. We stayed Monday -Friday and walked everywhere.
All three bedrooms were comfortable. The showers were a little small. The rest of the house was comfortable and welcoming.
Property was clean, good location, plenty of beds. Everything was as advertised. Thanks for a great stay!
The house was nice. It is very old and could use some upgrades. The stairs are very steep. The shower stalls are very small. If you are a large person, you may not fit into the shower. Near some good restaurants. The owner of the property was excellent. She was extremely helpful and quick to come by and help with any issue. I would give her customer service 10 stars.
We loved our stay! The house was clean and very welcoming. It we exactly as described and convenient to everything we wanted. We can't wait to return and will definitely stay again!!
Our group of 6 (4 adults, 2 children) stayed at this property for 6 nights in March. We prepared breakfast daily and several dinners in the kitchen. We did a couple loads of laundry. We most definitely used the wifi!
We enjoyed many positives at this property. It may be an older row house, but there was plenty of space for us all in the living room and at the dining table, and the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. There is lots of natural light and the decor is adequate. All of the appliances work as expected, and there were many kitchen items stocked for us. On arrival, this property was CLEAN, and cleaning products were tucked away but left available if we needed. There is central air and heat, which worked great once we figured out how to use it. There are more than enough bath towels, and soap and shampoo are provided. There is a key-less entry, and the owner left us some rechargeable SmarTrip cards, as well as visitor parking passes for our group's two cars. The neighborhood felt safe, and it was only a 5 minute walk to the supermarket and 10 to Union Station.
I also felt the owner was friendly and responsive, although we never met her. We exchanged many messages before our arrival, and she answered all my questions, gave us restaurant and event recommendations, and even went out of her way to get the parking passes I requested. We also exchanged several messages during our stay to share information and address problems we encountered, including a power outage the morning of our departure.
Unfortunately, the questionable part of this property are the two upstairs bathrooms. Apparently, they shared a tub, which was then cut in half to make two stall showers. The floor in one was sloped away from the drain, causing standing water to remain, and the tile in the other was grouted with soft putty that disintegrated during use, causing us to stop using it and contact the owner. Also, the door to the master bath was rough and temporary-looking and did not close.
The other unpleasant issue was the security alarm. Our first night there was chilly, and the sliding door next to the master bed did not close properly, letting in a draft and street noise. We tried unsuccessfully to fix it, causing the alarm system to chime every hour with a status report. The next day, we managed to engineer a temporary fix to the door and turn off the alarm, but instructions would have been helpful.
Overall, a true home-away-from-home!
