The only thing better than the beautiful view was the cottage itself. It's more like a home than a cottage. Extremely well furnished, decorated and maintained. We spent many serene happy hours on the deck and the beach, yet we also could quickly get to Acadia National Park, Ellsworth or Blue Hill. We are enchanted by three trilling loons out front. Owner and manager were readily available and very responsive.
Phenomenal Seadate Stay!
This is the best home we have ever rented!. It is immaculate with updated decor. Outstanding grounds and view. The bedrooms, in particular, are beautifully decorated. House had every amenity we needed, including great kitchenware, very helpful maine guidebooks, fun games & DVDs, great washer & dryer, plenty of supplies, good WiFi and much more! Moreover, the owner (Sylvia) was very accessible, responsive and kind! Wonderful experience at a top-rate, beautiful home! Close to Bar Harbor and Acadia but quieter area. Ideal retreat!
One of the best vacation weeks ever!
Our week at Seadate/Acadia was one of the best vacations my wife and I have had. The property was just as described. It was far enough off the "main" road that it was very quiet, and although there were "neighbors" on both sides, we couldn't see them and didn't hear them. We spent mornings and evenings sitting on either the deck or the perfect Adirondack love seat looking over the Union River Bay. Sunsets were exceptional. We loved to watch the tide ebb and flow. The cottage was spotless, very well decorated, and had all we could have needed for a week. It was an easy drive into Ellsworth (Union River Lobster Pot, Finn's Irish Pub, church, grocery stores) and into Trenton (Lunt's Lobster Pound, Sugar Bakery). A little farther and you're into the Acadia National Park Visitors Center and then Bar Harbor. We took the Island Explorer bus from the Visitor Center into Bar Harbor, and avoided any parking issues. While Bar Harbor is active and busy even in September, we loved trips to more quiet and interesting Northeast Harbor, Southwest Harbor, Bass Harbor and the Schoodic Peninsula. We took the ferry trip from Northeast Harbor out to the Cranberries..very pleasant. And, of course we did the Park Loop Road, Cadillac Mt., and popovers at Jordan Pond House after short hikes on the carriage roads. But the catalyst for all our fun was Seadate, where we could come back to chill and relax. Kim, the manager, and Suzanne, the owner, were very responsive, although we didn't need to see them during the week for anything. All was well.
We've already recommended Seadate to friends, and hope we have the opportunity to return to Acadia/Mt. Desert Island, and Seadate.
Who Could Ask For Anything More???
It was a positively fantastic week! The photos do not do justice to this beautifully decorated, clean and fully equipped home on the water. We drove to Bar Harbor and Acadia most days but looked forward to returning to our "little bit of heaven"! The only thing that we missed was a moose sighting! Thank you, Suzanne!
Peaceful, Quiet, Relaxing
Stop your cottage rental search right now and book a vacation at Seadate! Everything about Seadate was wonderful!! The setting is beautiful (especially in early October) on the water, and the beach, well the pictures do not do it justice...it goes on forever, I spent hours exploring it. We saw chipmunks, fox, red squirrels, cormorants, loons, bluejays, and the eagle. The cottage is very cozy and by far, the cleanest rental we have rented. Suzanne & Jeff thought of every necessity you may need during your stay. Having a washer and dryer is such an added bonus when traveling from a great distance. Seadate is a few minutes from Ellsworth, and less than 30 minutes from Bar Harbor / Acadia; and within an hour you can travel north to the beautiful Schoodic Peninsula and the quaint towns in that area. Seadate is truely a piece of heaven. Thank you to Suzanne, Jeff and especially Kim for answering our questions.
This cottage is beautiful and comfortable! It's clean, well equipped and right on the water. Great outdoor space!! Perfect location, easy drive to Arcadia National Park & Bar Harbor. I would highly recommend this home!!!
