South Lake Tahoe Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 1-4)

A cozy theme cabin with quality log-cabin style furnishings located on a private wooded lot with direct access to USFS land, it really feels like living in the mountains! Hike out the back less than 2 minutes to incredible views of the lake and Mt Tallac.

We nicknamed the cabin 'The Treehouse' because of it's wooded surroundings and comfy feel. It is two stories with the loft and main bedroom upstairs. The cabin is located at the end of a dead-end street surrounded by forest. Enjoy the hot tub in the middle of a snowstorm or at the end of a long summer hike. My family and friends have spent many fun-filled weeks at the cabin.

In the summer you can bike to Pope Beach and Camp Richardson. In the winter you can hike up behind the cabin and ski or snowboard down Twin Peaks for a little backcountry experience. We love it!

About Heather

I love all the outdoor activities Tahoe has to offer and a few it doesn't: my husband and I travel the world to feed our kiteboarding addiction and to immerse ourselves in a variety of cultures.

Heather purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Heather chose South Lake Tahoe

I moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1999 with the intention of staying one winter and never left. Tahoe is an amazing place! As a lover of the outdoors, it's the most incredible place to live.

Being from Oregon, my family bought a vacation home on the same street as my cabin in 1983. We vacationed in Tahoe every summer and some winters while I was growing up. I have such fond memories of all of us together laughing and playing in this beautiful place. The 'hill' behind my cabin used to be our playground in the 80's. My parents still own their vacation home just one block away.

What makes this cabin unique

Since the cabin used to be my primary residence and I love to cook, the kitchen is well stocked with quality pots and pans, and utensils. There's a PS3 that allows for blu-ray DVD watching and streaming Netflix. I love to listen to music and hang out with friends and family who come to visit. In the summer we BBQ on the deck and eat outside on the picnic table. In the winter, we enjoy evening hot tubs with cocktails. We almost always take advantage of the short hike straight up behind the property for views of the lake.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had an amazing time! Yall's place is perfect. Since I've gotten back I've told just about everyone I know they need to go to yall's place. It's cozy, homey, intimate, secluded but close to town, and the short hike up the back hill is really amazing at the top. We took a bottle of wine up there and just hung out for a while taking in the view. I don't think we could have found a better place.

Perfect Get-Away, Accurately Described

  • 5 of 5

Spent 3 nights in mid May, the cabin was accurately described by Heather. Felt private, I was a little concerned as we approached the neighborhood and it was pretty populated, but the cabin sits back from the street, in wooded surroundings, and is at the end of a cul-de-sac, then the back yard climbs up a mountain; with no homes behind you! The cabin had all the amenities as listed, tastefully decorated: well equipped kitchen (appreciated the French Press), very comfortable bed, plenty of linen, wi-fi, washer/dryer, etc. Centrally located, minutes away from anything that you could possibly need from civilization! Didn’t get a chance to use the hot tub, simply ran out of time, but did get to grill on the BBQ, worked great. Caution for anyone that may have trouble climbing steps, as the staircase to the loft is narrow and steep, it wasn’t a problem for us, it added to the charm, but thought others should be aware. With it being Spring time – the local waterfalls did not disappoint – breathtaking, roaring, falls, thoroughly enjoyed our hikes. This cozy setting was the perfect home base for us, I would return, and recommend it to others. Heather was prompt in response and helpful as we planned our travel.

Cozy and quaint cabin in quiet area of Tahoe

  • 4 of 5

The cabin fits 2 comfortably and is at the end of a very quiet street. Lots of pretty knotty pine interiors and a well-stocked kitchen. Heater

heats the space nicely. Lovely views from all the windows and a pretty spot to wake up to in snowfall! Must be agile to get up the steep stairs to

bedrooms. Some curtains on first floor windows would aide in privacy - for those who like to hang out in jammies! A shelf or added surfaces

in bathroom and living room would be most useful. Overall a lovely spot to stay in the woods!

Fantastic Cabin

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I booked this cabin for a weekend mid to late April.

We had a brilliant time. The cabin had everything we needed and was in a great location.

Contact with owner was spot on - quick replies and very accommodating.

It snowed pretty heavily while we were there which made the stay extra special having not seen snow in a good couple of years. Although, it did make the driving pretty nerve racking coming in and out of Tahoe!

Would recommend.

Perfectly Sufficient!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for a week with our twin 4 year old daughters. It was perfect for us! The cabin was small, but this wasn't a downside for us. The full size appliances, including a washing machine and dryer, made the space completely doable for us. We were excited to get some snow! Two nice gentlemen came in the morning, plowed the drive way, and shoveled the deck! We live in a place where we get snow, so we felt really spoiled! Our girls wanted to know what they were doing with all of their snow! :) We appreciated that the cabin is located in a quiet neighborhood with lots of space around it. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay.

Perfect size and location

  • 5 of 5

We traveled to SLT with our two kids. One is 17 and the other is 8. Anything more than that would have been too small. But for the four of us, it was perfect. We couldn't figure out the fireplace and were scared to blow something up, so I texted the maintenance man, went to pizza and the cabin was warm and cozy when we returned. He even changed a light bulb while he was there too. The Jacuzzi was my favorite but the kids loved the location. The hiking, the open meadow between the neighboring property and the set back location off the road made it very private. We will definitely rent this cabin again.

We stayed at this cabin on presidents day weekend 2/12/16-2/15/16, we LOVE IT: amazing location in the end of the street, very quiet, we took our 2 year old toddler for the snow (1st time) he love it love it love it, the owner told us ahead that cabin is not child proof, but it was not a problem at all we enjoined it so much . Really close to supermarket, awesome hike behind the cabin, we didn't even leave the cabin to enjoy snow and slide down off the hill, cabin was nice and clean, had everything you need in the kitchen. We recommend this cabin 150%
