About Bret Randolph

I grew up in northern Virginia in the United States. I am a business owner there and sought out Long Island Bahamas as a retreat from the hectic life in the states.

Bret Randolph purchased this house in 2014

Why Bret Randolph chose Bahamas

I enjoyed my visits to Long Island Bahamas so much that I decided to purchase a home with the idea becoming totally immersed in the Carribean dream of beautiful beaches and friendly people. When I first visited Pinders Villa and saw the breathtaking views from the deck I knew this was the place for me to realize that dream.

What makes this house unique

I really love this home because of its private location but central location to all the important areas of the island. The stunning view from the 1600 sq. ft deck had me at hello. I love sitting out there watching the sunrise over the Atlantic in the morning and listening to the waves at the end of the day.

Paradise found

  • 5 of 5

We loved this rental because the house was very clean, comfortable and equipped with everything needed to prepare meals and drinks. The view from the deck is of a vast green area sloping down to the beach, where kayaks await. We saw rays and turtles and swam to the island one day.

We have rented numerous houses in other Out Islands for years and this is our favourite place so far🌴

Staying at Pinders is unique

  • 4 of 5

A great home to spend your vacation. The view of Guana Cay is awesome. There is food to be had in the water however keep your eye out for the sharks that sometimes roam the water. The only visitors we had were the many goats that roam the land. Pinders has everything you need to enjoy your stay without bringing it with you. Beach towels, gas grill in great shape, Kayaks, a wonderful caretaker, the private road down to the beach were all added bonuses for your stay at Pinders.

Stay at Pinders Paradise June 22 to July 7 2016

  • 5 of 5

Sue and I stayed at your nice Long Island property recently for a very enjoyable vacation. Other reviews have many particulars, but we especially enjoyed the beautiful private setting and a nice house with a great outdoor covered deck. The east facing site is open to the cooling winds, not to mention the preventing bugs. It was summer, but we did not use the AC; just opened the windows. Almost every day we spent time on the Little Harbor beach below the house. This beach gets very little use by others. Even though the house is off by itself, grocery stores and gas are not far away. We spent several days wandering the island. Around this house there is little evidence of the hurricane damage. Further south there is some more damage, but the island is recovering. This was definitely our type of a quiet vacation setting. Thanks, Chuck

A Truly Unique Property makes for an Amazing Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second Bahamas Trip for my wife and 16 year old daughter, and it was the second time we used VRBO/Homeaway to find a property. We had a great vacation on Long Island! A very laid back friendly place! The pictures do not do the view justice (and neither did the ones I took!). The first time you drive up and see the view from the big deck your jaw will drop-the bay there (Lower Harbor is its name) is a multicolored gem of Turquoise and green. As the day goes from morning to evening, the bay will shimmer and the shades will change in a subtle way depending on the strength of the sunlight. Sitting on the deck, either in the sun or under the roof is mesmerizing and we spent a part of each day doing just this. The property's best feature in our mind is the private road/path to the beach and large sized gazebo right on the beach. We could load up our SUV with the cooler, snacks, towels and snorkels and haul it all down in the morning and back in the evening. The Gazebo gave us a nice place to hang out when we needed a break from the sun or water and at times we would just walk down. Kayaks, life jackets, coolers, beach chairs and masks/snorkel are all provided. The house was well kept and recently renovated. The bedrooms are comfortable and the kitchen has newer appliances and they all worked well. Coffee maker, vita-mix juicer, bean grinder, toaster, etc.-everything you would want in a kitchen is there. If you are on a budget, cooking in is a definite option in this kitchen. There is also a well kept weber gas grill as well as a Weber kettle grill. You use cistern water for bathing and gray water needs and use bottled water for drinking and cooking-on par with other Bahamian properties. The electric was reliable but use the provided surge protectors-Bahamas Electric is still surge prone. Our cell phone worked well (signal booster in the house) and the wifi was fast- We did not use the really very nice TV much, but it is there. The road to the property is about 3/4 mile- the lower harbor road sign is missing due to the storm-like almost all roads off Queens Highway it is dirt/rock. A car can do it fine but we were glad to have an SUV. Likewise the private road to the gazebo includes a pretty good hill-easily walk-able or drivable in our SUV. The owner and Caretaker were VERY RESPONSIVE! We can't say enough about how much we enjoyed the property and the island-and it was a great value!

excellent

We thought the place was spacious and gracious and quiet. Enjoyed the outdoor porch and the view. Walked to the protected beach and cabana daily. The kitchen was well equipped. Very clean and tidy. The caretaker, Carissa Fo,x was available, attentive, and informative re: the area. I would recommend this property to anyone.

On the downside - the internet connection was spotty at best. It was nice to have Netflix available but we also would have liked to be able to receive regular TV channels. This was our third stay on Long Island. We have enjoyed the Outer Edge grill, Rowdy Boys Restaurant, Forests, Max's Conch Shack, the fried chicken at Club Washington, Lloyd's, Moonshine Bar and Grill. We also do quite a lot of cooking ourselves and the grocery store at Salt Pond had everything we needed and also the Midway minimart was close and well stocked.

We were sorry to see the damage done by Hurricane Joaquin on the southern part of the island. We appreciate the casual friendliness of the islanders and wish them only the best.

It Really IS Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

If you like crowds and 24/7 tourist things to do, go to Nassau. If you like peace and quiet with a gorgeous view and the only neighbors being the occasional goats that visit your deck, this is the place for you! We love Long Island for its small town feeling, the delicious food, and the practically private beaches. This property is set on a hillside all by itself and has an amazing view of green foliage with a beautiful beach at the bottom of the hill. There was a private path that you could walk or drive to get to the beach. In the week that we stayed here, we usually had the beach all to ourselves, and there were only two occasions when we even saw another person or two on the beach. Although the beach is on the Atlantic side of the island, there is a barrier of rocks and a small island that breaks the strong waves so that the water in front of the property is crystal clear and calm for swimming. The house is spacious, clean, well-maintained and comfortable, and it had everything we needed. There were two extra bedrooms that we never even needed to use, so the house could easily accommodate 5-6 people. The covered deck is almost as big as the house and very well constructed.

Hurricane Joaquin had stayed over Long Island for two days, just three months before our visit, but this house and its beach hut did not have any significant damage that we noticed. Most of the businesses were already repaired and operating as if nothing had happened, so we were easily able to get groceries and gas, and we had a wide variety of restaurants to choose from. In the aftermath of Joaquin, WIFI at the house was somewhat unstable, but it was easy to reset as needed, and we had no problem watching Netfilx or using the internet with it. It is true that the sand flies are worse since Joaquin, especially in the evenings or if the wind is still. Luckily it is easy to find bug spray in the stores. I recommend renting a rough terrain vehicle, because anytime you go off of the Queen’s Highway, most of the roads on Long Island are very rocky, narrow dirt roads, as is the long driveway to get to the house.

The owner was easy to work with, and he replied right away to emails, which was the way we communicated with him. The caretaker was very helpful and responded quickly and cheerfully whenever we needed her. The property met our expectations in every way. I give this property my highest recommendation for a quiet place for couples or families to get away from it all!
