Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed at this property for a week in August of 2015.

This house is large with historic charm and warmly decorated. It has many bedrooms, including a separate bedroom over the garage that was great for our teenager. The house is bright, clean and well maintained; the beds were very comfortable. Unlike many other houses we have rented, sheets and towels were included and the house has a large washer and dryer. The cozy study/library was great for morning coffee and reading the paper, while the family room was a good place to gather to watch a movie. We especially liked the three large reclining lounge chairs. The kitchen was well- equipped with pots, pans, utensils, coffee maker, dishwasher and microwave. We didn’t need to do any anything upon our arrival; no cleaning, no making beds; just enjoy ourselves.

The house is situated on a very large property. There is an outdoor grill and patio overlooking fields with visiting deer. We were happy to find we could hang a hammock in a tree in the yard relaxing to the sounds of birds and the summer breeze. A high point every morning was taking our dog for a walk along the property’s nature path and letting him run free in the fields set back behind woods that separated it from the road.

The private location gave us the quiet, bucolic atmosphere we were looking for while being close to the restaurants and stores in nearby Belfast, Camden and Lincolnville. We enjoyed going to the video rental store in Camden for movies to watch on the large screen TVs.

During that week, we took advantage of house’s wonderful proximity to the areas wealth of activities; we biked on Islesboro, attended the Lobster Festival in Rockland, canoed on Lake Megunticook, kayaked up Trues Pond, biked on country roads right from the house, and swam in Steven’s Creek Lake and Lake Saint George.

We think this home with all its amenities, beautiful surroundings and central locale is the perfect place for a true Maine stay; whether a small family, reunion or a multiple family vacation.

Serenity Defined!

  • 5 of 5

What an amazingly peaceful setting...if you're looking for serenity it doesn't get any better than this! Each morning and evening we were able to enjoy the outdoor spaces and watch the wild turkeys and deer. Our family of four including our elderly parents, my sister and myself had plenty of space and all slept so well in the quiet of the country. We took the 45 minute drive to the coast each day taking in the Maine Lobster Festival, Cadillac Mountain and Camden as well as several other mid coast towns. Even with all the activities we packed in each day, we all agreed this beautiful and historical family farmhouse was our favorite part of the trip.

Lots of old country charm!

  • 4 of 5

We felt very comfortable and at home here. It was a great place for our family to stay while enjoying all the wonders Maine has to offer. The antique decor is delightfully quaint and interesting. We'd definitely rent the Great Maple again!

Beautiful historic property

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I enjoyed a long weekend in this quiet rural home, beautifully furnished with antiques. A wide variety of bedrooms and sleeping quarters were available which we did not use. Most of the days we spent in nearby Belfast and Camden to enjoy the cultural and maritime environment. We recommend it.

A beautiful vacation rental house for a medium size group - 9 members. Everything in the house is maintained very well. Easy to communicate with owner. All my friends very much enjoyed staying at the house. Probably this is the first time we have seen chromecast in the house.. :)
