Nestled among pine trees on two lots, this cottage takes you back to the quiet serene life on Tainter Lake of the 1950's, Dunn County, Wisconsin. Setting above the lake, gives you a calm feeling of complete restfulness. Sitting on the deck overlooking the lake, fishing from the dock or your boat, or canoeing 2 rivers will set the tone for the easy everyday life on Tainter Lake. In the evening enjoy a gathering around the fire pit roasting marshmallows for your s'mores.
The cabin itself will take you back to the vacations of the 1950's. Two bedrooms with knotty pine walls and having 2 single beds in one and the "master" with a double bed overlooking the lake. Additional sleeping can happen on the couch in the living room and on the screened in porch. Also, 2 sleeping bags and a tent are in the closet for extra camping arrangements. The living/dining room has knotty pine walls giving the cozy feeling. Enjoy an evening of cards in a large screened porch overlooking the lake.

We enjoy the cabin as a get away location--Clean and basic all what you need-Would love to go again and stay.
Wonderful to hear that the Nelsons enjoyed their stay. They were great guests to have at the Sonny Pines.
Charming cottage (not for swimming though)
We loved the charm of this cottage. Especially the vintage touches, large screened porch an lots of places to watch the lake. I loved the room with single beds. Charming and cozy. Julie thought of everything. All supplies are there. We had no reasons to run to town for anything.
We rented it so that we could spend the weekend swimming and were VERY disappointed that the water condition was not mentioned. The photograph in this listing makes it seem like we could jump off the dock but in reality, the water is covered with bright green seeds? We couldn't even put our feet in. And if the seeds cleared, there is far too much seaweed for swimming fun. Bummer.
Canoeing or kayaking would be great, but you'd have to hose the seeds off afterwards.
The seeds also made the water near the shore very stinky!! My dog had to be hosed off after each swim.
My husband and I rented Sonny Pines to celebrate our anniversary. We were very disappointed when we saw it. I could tell by the pictures that it wasn't anything fancy but we expected it to be clean and comfortable. There was dog hair on every upholstered piece of furniture, dirty shoes in 2 rooms and a moldy shower. We covered the furniture with blankets from the bed since we had brought our own bedding. I wouldn't have known to bring bedding but when I emailed to see if we should bring our own towels was told to also bring our own bedding. There was no comfortable place to sit on the porch or deck and the lake was so covered with scum we couldn't go swimming. The neighbors were closer than our neighbors here in the city. This cabin is way over-priced. The location and restaurants in the area were great.
Cottage with "Up North" Feeling
The cottage is a bit rustic, but all of the basic amenities are available (shower, coffee maker, microwave, etc.). There is a grill, fire pit, and a large screened-in room for bug-free gatherings. It's a nice place to enjoy great views of the lake and relax for a couple of days.
Rustic, but cozy little cottage on Lake Tainter
Cozy little 2 bedroom summer cottage with great views of the lake. Nice dock to go fishing off of or to dock your boat. Has large screened in porch to sit in and just relax looking over the lake. Very quiet and peaceful. Jakes Dinner Club on the lake has live music weekends and a great Sunday Brunch.
