We are a family of six and we originally bought this home so that we would have a place close to home where we could go on short vacations with the kids. We love Big Bear Lake because in a couple of hours we can be in a completely different environment. We love the lake and the trail in the summer and the snow in the winter. Big Bear Lake also has a pretty fun town center with a couple theaters and many good restaurants. Our kids are older now and it's harder for us to get out there so a few years ago we decided to share our home with others. I love that our guests treat our home as if it were theirs.
Aileen purchased this cabin in 1999
The main reason for choosing this location is that we wanted to be close to Bear Mountain Ski Resort so that our children and our guests could walk to the lifts. It's also right by the golf course and very close to the zoo and walking trails. We love also that it's just 5 minutes by car from town.
We love that this home is made of full logs and has a real mountain feel. We have an enclosed yard which has been helpful when we host young children and lots of fruit trees! In the summer, our guests can enjoy the shade and the lawn in the back yard. We have a barbecue and plenty of patio furniture. We love this home and we keep it clean and well maintained. It has three full bathrooms which is helpful when everyone needs to shower after a busy day of activities.
This home was perfect for our two families. It's spacious, nicely decorated and both the front and back yards were large and the kids had a blast playing in the snow (the most fun they had all weekend!).
You can't see from the photos, but the master bedroom is huge with a comfy king bed and there is a fireplace in there as well. All three bathrooms have been tastefully remodeled.
If you are a skier or boarder, the location is amazing since you can literally walk to Bear Mountain Resort. The downside is that the road is a little busy, but the house is set back enough from the road.
We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely rent this house again!
Great location. Keeps getting better they have been putting a lot of money into the cabin. Will be a five star place with work they have been doing . Thank you for a get time .
The house was very clean and updated. Everything we needed was available in the kitchen and we had a great time. I cant wait to visit Big Bear again and will hopefully stay at this house again.
The beautiful color of the interior wood makes for a real fun , uplifting home away from home. Some log cabins can be a bit dark and down. Not this one. Also has lots of room... everywhere. The fenced in back yard was a real bonus, since we had 3 boys under 4 years old with us. It let Mom have some time with them outside without holding their hands every moment. We brought an inflatable pool for the backyard and they loved it. (Mom found that time "almost relaxing" for her...with 3 boys that's as close as it gets!) This is our second cabin up here, and we all preferred this one. We're making our yearly summer stay in Big Bear a family tradition and look forward to coming back here. The boys already call this "Our Mountain House!".
Everything mentioned in the description and reviews proved to be just as good and true as stated, so I won't go over each detail. We like going to the zoo every year and this time tried the little gold panning / dinosaur/ geode shop just past the Village, heading towards Rim of the World. Great activity for the little guys. We all loved this cabin and would recommend it to friends (once I'm sure they don't want to try to schedule for "our" week! ). It was a great fit for us.
Love this wooden cabin in the Big Bear City. Location is good, near to the downtown of BB and supermarket. It's bigger than you see in the pictures, the place is clean and tidy, decors makes you feel like home too! The owner provides everything basic: towels, liners, pillows, heat and a/c, hair-dryer, flat TV, kitchen utensils and more... We like the wooden style of the furniture, dinning table, chairs, coffee table, counter top, beds are all made by hard wood with nice design. We are group of 7 adults had a great time for the July 4th weekend, everyone has their own bed, and it's really nice that we have 3 bathrooms to share! All bathrooms are newly remodeled, clean and beautiful and even provide shampoo and body wash! We enjoyed our time of sharing, cooking, eating, playing games there. Such a lovely place to stay! Last but not the least, the owner Aileen is a very nice person with quick respond to my questions, instructions are clear to follow too. The only improvement I will suggest is the drive way of the garage, it has a deep slope that easy to miss, my friend bump the bottom of his car accidentally. Other than that everything is very nice. I will recommend to my friends and look forward to come back!
My family of 9 stayed at this cabin the first weekend in January, right after a big storm hit. There was a ton of snow and we were literally in walking distance from Bear Mountain Ski Resort! We were able to get all-day lift tickets, and could walk back and forth to the cabin throughout the day for lunch and rest. The location doesn't get much better! Just know that you can't park on the street, only in the driveway. People get shuttled into the ski resort constantly throughout the day, so keep your cars in the driveway.
When we arrived, there was 4 feet of snow in the driveway and the front yard, and the power had gone out because of the storm! So, make sure you bring extra shovels and flashlights! But the home owner was super helpful and made herself available when we needed to contact her. We really appreciated that.
We will definitely be returning to this cabin in the future!
