We live and work in Atlanta. Sharon is a Registered Nurse and Rick is in Data Processing. We have been vacationing in South Walton since 2006 and love it. We spend as much time as we can at the beach. We Kayak, fish, walk and relax at the beach. We enjoy nature and the great weather. We love 'Hold Your Seahorses' and have enjoyed making the cottage fun and comfortable for you as well as ourselves, our kids and grand-kids.
Rick Sunderland purchased this cottage in 2011
We have stayed at many houses in Santa Rosa Beach since 2006 and we have loved it very much. This is our choice destination for vacations and family get-togethers. Purchasing this home in Old Florida Village was an easy decision.
Three of the main reasons we love our cottage. (1) We relax and enjoy the quiet and the sounds of nature. Enjoying coffee on the porch overlooking Hidden Lake and the birds is delightful. (2) We enjoy the beach very much. The beach during the day is delightful and walking to the beach for the sunset is a real pleasure. (3) We enjoy kayaking in the lakes, rivers and the ocean. A great pleasure is paddling at Grayton Beach just three miles east on 30A.
Our family of six stayed at "Hold your Seahorses" for a few nights after Christmas. It was perfect in every way. The cookware was fabulous...there were plenty of good beach chairs and beach towels for our use ... the property and landscaping were so immaculate my husband and I called it '"Disney World." The view of nature on the pond was incredible while we sipped our morning coffee on one of the three decks...the beach was a short bike ride away...Thank you, owners, for sharing your slice of heaven.
This was our second stay at "Hold Your Horses" and we couldn't have enjoyed it more! The house is simply perfect with a place and space for everyone. With three women, the three bathrooms were especially appreciated. The owners checked in on us and made a recommendation for a new restaurant for us and WOW- we were thrilled! Check out Local Catch and the Wine Walk around the square! Thanks for making this our second home!
Staying at "Hold Your SeaHorses" for our family Fall break (last week of Sept) was fun and relaxing. First of all, the weather is very much "Summer" but the beach crowd is definitely "Fall." Staying at "Hold Your Seahorses" in Old Florida Village was perfect for our active family of five (mom, dad, grandma, and 3 boys -- high & middle school students plus a 4 year old!). The house gave everyone his own space (and bathroom) without us feeling like we couldn't keep tabs on the kids. The property is accurately described in the VRBO description & photos. The owner, Rick, was friendly, responsive and professional throughout our entire experience. Let me tell you....there's nothing you need to bring other than your swimsuit, sunscreen & PJs when you stay at this property. You'll find well over 20 high quality beach towels, a fully stocked kitchen (with enough dishes for 2 meals a day), and a shed FULL of beach goodies! We referred to the shed as the "beach cornucopia" as it stores a beach wagon, an assortment of Tommy Bahama beach chairs that were too numerous to count, boogie boards, sand pails & shovels, and several umbrellas. We happily used the house's booster seat at the dining table with our youngest and noticed 2-3 baby gates are also provided. It is a 10 minute walk to the beach from the house...perfect for 5 of us but a little long for grandma. The public beach access has a nice picnic area, bathrooms, and parking for about ten cars and 4-5 golf carts. The lot was empty during our week but I bet it fills up quickly during Summer. There are two neighborhood pools with one being about 100' from the house. Both are on the small side but we had them to ourselves during the week of our stay...and really, with a 4 year old, our time was spent on the pool steps. The neighborhood is very quiet and I would have no reservation allowing my kids to explore on their own (well, not the 4 year old...). Thank you, Hold Your SeaHorses, for the good memories!
We had a great experience with this property. It had everything we needed for our entire week stay. Everything was clean, well maintained and very comfortable. The bed was fantastic and the neighborhood was nice, quiet and very close to the beach. We would definitely stay here again!
I took my family to Florida and staying here was the best thing we could have done. Everything is there that you need including all chairs, floats ect...needed for beach fun. The walk to the beach was not very far and they had a wagon included to put everything in for ocean fun. We really enjoyed our stay there and will stay again on our next trip to Florida!!! Loved it!!!! The owners are GREAT!!! Any kind of problem you have, which is far and few, they get back with you almost immediately. I would recommend their home to anyone wanting a clean, safe and comfortable place.
This is our 2nd year in a row going to Santa Rosa & to "Hold your Seahorses" , we had a wonderful stay once again .. The house is perfect .. The neighborhood is so quaint & just great ! You're right by the beach , we would go to the beach at night too which was awesome ! My boyfriend loves the crab cakes at Goatfeathers which is right across from the neighborhood &'local catch has great shrimp tacos .. I
Love that Santa Rosa is by Watercolir, Rosemary , not far from Destin or Panama. We drove around to 5 different beaches in one day and snorkeled at an inlet in Destin two of our days there ... the owners are so easy to work with & it's a great house, great neighborhood, and great location for an awesome vacation.. We loved every minute of our stay !!!
