Blackberry Hollow Cabin
Privacy, seclusion, and the beautiful Shenandoah River! Cabin offers a private and secluded setting which caters to nature enthusiasts, river sport fanatics, and dog lovers! This custom home boasts spacious rooms, vaulted ceilings, gourmet kitchen, veggie and herb gardens, rose gardens, private back deck, full length screened front porch and a huge fenced dog yard. Enjoy 1+ acres of adjacent private river front---take the path from the cabin to private river access. River front is beautifully manicured with picnic table, firepit, sandy entrance to the river, and no neighbors to view on either side or across the river. Put up the family sized tent (for the kids) and make sure you end the evening doing a little star gazing with a fire in the 6 ft firepit. This retreat is 1/2 mile from the end of a 'dead-end' road. This quiet road is perfect for running, cycling, walking, and is part of the Old Dominion 50 mile horse endurance ride.
Area Surroundings: River frontage is on the South Fork of the Shenandoah. Bird watching is popular here with hundreds of local bird varieties to view---including eagles which are nesting along the river. Shenandoah Outfitters are just up the road 15 minutes from the cabin where you can rent canoes, kayaks, and go tubing down the river. Also, several local hikes are just minutes from here--Indian Grave Ridge and Compton Falls approximately 2 1/2 miles from here. The area has several attractions to visit while you are enjoying your stay with us. The Shenandoah Valley features picture-postcard farms and beautiful scenery along country roads and the popular Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway. If you're interested in the great outdoors, you'll love the hiking trails and horseback riding in the Blue Ridge Mountains. And don't forget the beautiful Shenandoah National Park with its portion of the Appalachian Trail. Whether your trip is action packed or more relaxed, every moment in the Shenandoah Valley is a breath of fresh air!

My husband & I stayed at Blackberry Hollow Cabin for a long weekend & it was wonderful. Diana (the owner) was extremely nice & professional in all of her emails & she made sure that we knew what to bring, what was provided, etc.
The cabin sits on a nice piece of property & it had plenty of room for our dog to run around. Having 2 fenced in areas was great & it made things very easy for us when it came to taking him out, playing ball, etc. The cabin has a very homey feel to it & it's very clean & well maintained. The kitchen has everything you need to cook great meals plus there's the gas grill on the back deck. The couches & beds were comfy & there were plenty of extra pillows & blankets if you needed them. There was a nice selections of movies, books & cd's around the cabin plus the owner has a binder full of ideas of things to do around the Luray area. The front porch is awesome. We spent the mornings out there drinking coffee, reading & listening to the birds & cicadas. It was very peaceful & one of our favorite spots to relax.
We spent some time down by the river & watched groups of people canoeing by. There's a nice picnic table & fire pit & lots of open area to hang out at.
Like others including the owner suggest, it's best to get all of your supplies before getting to the cabin. It is about a 1/2 hour from town & the 9 1/2 miles of dirt road does take a little while to drive down. The road is well maintained but you do need to take it slow as there are the occasional potholes you need to avoid.
We can't wait to return for another stay & would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a great place to stay in the Luray area.
What a delightful cabin! It is at the end of a long dirt/gravel road, which is hard packed and well maintained, and therefore not difficult to drive. It is secluded and very private, with a large dog pen in the front yard, and a smaller pen behind the house, which is accessed from the utility room, and therefore very convenient. Our medium-sized dog was also delighted with the low windows, which allowed her to see the yard at all times.
The king bed is very comfortable, and the bathroom is exceptionally nice for a rental. It has two double sinks, a shower, and a nice claw foot soaking tub. The kitchen is unbelievably well-appointed. The pots and pans are good quality. There are plenty of nice dishes, glasses, and mugs. The small appliances include a crockpot, mixer, blender, immersion blender, toaster, microwave/convection oven, coffeemaker, and others I may have missed. The electric stove is bettter than most. There are a few spices/herbs in the cabinet.... enough to to get by, for sure.
The only drawback is the distance to town. Not a problem, but you want to make sure you have everything you need before you arrive.
Would have been a 3 star if priced at $100 a nite. You have to cross Page Valley Road to get to River. When you get there, the sounds of Rt 340 are even more noticeable than at the cabin. There are cabins and trailers all over, so this place is not that secluded. The house itself has a hodge podge of furnishings and wall hangings. All interesting, but odd. ...again, $100 a nite would be the correct rate. You can only get a sense of the mountains on your drive in and out, not while you are in cabin. The landscaping is somewhat interesting. Since we did not have dogs, we could not verify the other reviews that claimed 'their dogs really loved the place".
Blackberry Hollow is a beautiful and comfortable home!! It is a cabin only by name. My wife and I have stayed at cabins before and they were nothing compared to this!! The house is beautifully and tastefully decorated. It is well furnished and very clean. Diana was wonderful to work with and was very accommodating to our questions and needs. The house is ultra dog friendly!!
From the fenced in side yard to the fenced in area off the deck in the back of the house it was very easy to have our dog off leash. It was so nice to barbecue and have our dog join us without any worries. Our dog Koda loved running around the yard and down by the river.
He was a frequent swimmer in the river and enjoyed fetching the sticks that came floating by.
We felt very much at home there and were so surprised at how comfortable Koda was also.
From the nightly barbecues on the rear deck to the coffee and dessert on the screened in front porch we were amazed at how beautiful and peaceful our stay was!!
If we find ourselves travelling to the area in the future we will be sure to contact Diana as our first choice of lodging!
I highly recommend Blackberry Hollow to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable and peaceful vacation!! And be sure to bring your dog!!
Thanks again Diana for a wonderful stay!!
My wife and I stayed at Blackberry Hollow Cabin along with our two dogs. The cabin felt like we were home. Extremely clean, very well organized and maintained. First, Diana is a superb host, from the moment we contacted her she was responsive, and genuinely wants her guests to have a comfortable stay. She answered all of our questions and exceeded our expectations. The cabin is fully stocked and very comfortable and cozy. The cabin is perfect for your dog and the fenced in dog pen was a blessing. If you like to grill, it has very nice BBQ in the rear deck where you can relax and have the dogs out in the fenced in area in the back. We highly recommend this cabin and we will definitely return! Thank you Diana, you are the perfect host!
I have to say that we loved this house! It is beautiful, well maintained, immaculately clean, well stocked for cooking i.e. pans, utensils, appliances. The river is so close that beach renters would be jealous. Diana had everything worry free for our stay. The dog areas are fantastic, I have a 2 year old shepherd and a 14 year old Maltese, they were both so happy here. The screened in front porch is where we spent the majority of our evenings. Diana has wi-fi and satellite service, we opted for the sounds of the tree frogs. We will always consider this home as our 1st choice for a home away from home. Thanks Diana
