This charming 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apt sleeps up to 6 people and is located in the heart of College Hill's Fox Point neighborhood, one of most desirable and walkable districts on College Hill in Providence. The apt is just 2 blocks to Brown University (5-8 min), and a few blocks walk to Thayer Street, Wickenden St, RISD, and Downtown. It's also within close walking distance of Blackstone Blvd, Wayland Square, India Point Park, Hope St Village, Federal Hill, WaterFire, the Convention Center and many shops restaurants, parks, and attractions. The apt is a 1 block to the nearest playground & bus stop, near Zipcars, and within walking distance to downtown amenities. If you are visiting Providence and need a place to stay that is beautiful, safe, inexpensive and central to the colleges and is the perfect place!

This spacious open floor plan 3rd floor apt has been completely remodeled from top to bottom with brand new stainless steel appliances, new hardwood floors and cabinets, gorgeous granitelike countertops, new ceiling fans, high ceilings, and great lighting. The apt features 2 large bedrooms, one with charming boutique "Pottery Barn" white floorboards the other with manly hardwoods. Each bedroom features a brand new queen size bed and fresh clean new bedding. In addition to the 2 queen beds in the bedrooms there are 2 queen size airbeds available for guests use. The bathroom has a brand new shower and hardwood floors. The sunlit living room features gorgeous views, beautiful hardwoods, leather sofa, arm chairs, coffee table, and FIOS Cable TV and HD / DVR available with HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, Starz, Encore, The Movie Channel & more. A comfortable full-size fold out sofa bed and/or queen size air mattress is also available in the apt which is great for kids or the extra guest. If you have infants or small children, a "pack and play" portable crib or full size crib is available for your use and fits a child up to the age of 2 or 3. The kitchen has lovely windows, a stainless steel stove and refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, and all kitchenware and utensils needed to accommodate your stay. Wireless internet, washer and dryer, and 24 hour off-street parking is available for 1 car your convenience. This apt is well above the average condition of most apartments close to Brown and RISD and is the perfect vacation rental with the best that College Hill has to offer.

Pets and smoking are not allowed. There is easy access to I-95 and 1-195 within about a mile from the apt and it's just an 8 minute drive to the Amtrack station, and a 15 minute drive to TF Green Airport.

The house still has some really beautiful original features from the early 1900's period in which it was built, while it also provides the conveniences of recent updates. I do have mature family-oriented tenants. Occasionally you can hear a little bit of walking on the floorboards above or below so earplugs are provided for guests convenience. The place is wonderfully warm in the winters. Brand new air conditioners are installed to keep guests cool and comfortable in the summer. During your stay there may be occasional light renovation work being done in other parts of the house. It can be scheduled around your stay at your convenience.

Length of Stay:

Neighborhood Attractions:

The house is centrally located just two blocks from Brown University in one of most desirable, safest, and walkable districts on College Hill in Providence and is within close walking distance to Brown University, RISD, Wayland Square, Blackstone Blvd, Wickenden, St, Thayer Street, Hope St Village, Federal Hill, and downtown.

Thayer Street

Numerous cafes, restaurants, and shops are located along Thayer Street, adjoining Brown University at Veteran's Gate. Brown University's bookstore is located on Thayer. A notable Thayer Street landmark is the Avon Cinema which dates back to the early twentieth century.

Brown University, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD)

Both colleges are just blocks from the apt. Brown University's facilities include the Main Green, the Rockefeller Library, the Pembroke Campus, and the School of Medicine. Many of the Rhode Island School of Design's buildings are along the slope of College Hill. The RISD Museum is located on Benefit Street.

Wayland Square

In Wayland Square you will find Whole Foods Grocery, Starbucks, Lim's Thai Cuisine, Alex and Ani, Books On The Square, Teas and Javas, Mc Bride's Pub, Minerva Pizza, Power Yoga, Boston Sports Club, Citron Day Spa, Eastside, Marketplace Grocery, CVS, Rite Aid, Bank Of America, The UPS Store, and many more shops, spas, and restaurants.

Wickenden Street

Wickenden has many quaint antique shops, clothing stores, Coffee Exchange, Brickaway (which serves great breakfasts), and Fellini's Pizzeria the best pizza in Providence!

Hope St Village

Hope St has a wonderful collection of small, locally-owned businesses including restaurants, pubs, shops, spa's, and is a local's favorite!.

Federal Hil

Federal Hill neighborhood has a salient role in the history of Providence due to its central location within the city. It's best known as the Italian district and hosts a variety of fine restaurants, galleries, nightlife, and shopping and some of the best Italian food in town.

Providence Waterfire, Downtown, Providence Place Mall, Convention Center

All of these downtown delights are just a short 5 minute drive or a 20-25 minute walk from the apt.

Parks & Recreation

The apt is 1 block from scenic Paterson Park which has a walking trail and a wonderful playground for children. Many families traveling with kids that have stayed at our place have loved the close proximity of the playground. It's also 5 blocks walk from Blackstone Blvd which is the best most scenic 2-3 mile jogging & walking trail in Providence. Wayland Square Power Yoga and Boston Sports Club are just 2-3 blocks from the apt.

There are numerous parks and green spaces within walking and driving distance. India Point Park, the largest of these, is located along the northernmost shore of Narragansett Bay. Blackstone Boulevard Park, consists of 19.3 acres (7.8 ha) of parkland and a 1.7-mile (2.7 km) path for jogging and walking. Brown Street Park, behind Hope High School. Lippitt Memorial Park, a 6-acre (2.4 ha) park at the intersection of Hope Street and Blackstone Boulevard near the Pawtucket border. It is named after former Rhode Island governor Charles W. Lippitt. Roger Williams National Memorial is at the bottom of College Hill.

East Side Fun

This was our 2nd stay with Mags and we had a another great time on the lovely East Side of Providence. Our 4 year old loved having her own room as well as the playground directly across the street. The apt was very comfortable & clean and had all of the necessities cooking and eating in. It was also the perfect location to walk to all of our favorite shops & restaurants on Wikendon St, Wayland Sq, and Thayer St. and a short drive to downtown and Fed Hill (Little Italy). We look forward to staying again soon!

If you stay, here are some can't miss places for local flavor:

Homely apartment

The apartment was impeccably clean and the owners direction to the apartment was concise and direct. The service provided by the owner was a class act. I am telling my friends and fellow workers how great my stay was and I am looking forward to stay in that apartment next year. Easy walk to the campus and good restaurants was one of the activities I enjoyed most.

Great Location & Experience

Mags was extremely gracious and accommodating as we herded the two different families together to agree on dates and price. Her facility was clean and just like the description so there were no surprises...always nice. We were not in the apt. for an extended period of time - basically just to take showers, sleep (it was quiet except for a neighbor who was obviously doing some hammering but he stopped by 10PM) and get up, dress and we were off again. I highly recommend this apt.

A lovely apartment in a quiet area of Providence

We had a lovely stay at Mags’s apartment in Providence. It’s beautiful inside and as Brits we didn’t find the shower too small!

We packed light so it was great to have so much useful stuff on hand, including shampoo and soap. The towels were beautifully fluffy and the beds comfy – what more could you want?!

It was very easy to find our way around Providence and we enjoyed wandering round Brown University, leaving the car in the parking space behind the apartment.

When we first arrived – quite late at night in the dark – we wondered what we’d let ourselves in for as we had to go round the back of the house and find our way in using a torch (or flashlight as we now know American’s say...). However as soon as we opened the door of the top-floor apartment we felt at home, especially with the IKEA furnishings, which made it feel quite European.

Mags was excellent to deal with. She has a lovely IKEA inspired apartment and it is very central to cafes, shops, Brown University, parks. Easy access on and off to the freeway. The neighborhood felt safe and we felt comfortable taking evening walks to local cafes. The neighborhood was quiet and the apt had off street parking. The beds were VERY comfortable, the apartment was spot on clean. The apartment is on the third floor, but we packed accordingly, and we were happy for the exercise. My husband and I were both very pleased and would definitely stay again!!!!

This apt is on the third floor, accessible by stairs. The stairs are ample and wide but you have trouble negotiating stairs, this might not be the best accommodation for you. Off-street parking is available for 1 vehicle only. Parking is tight so a compact size car is recommended, but larger vehicles can be accomodated too. Transportation to or from the airport can be provided for an additional $40 fee per each one way trip. Parties, smoking, drugs, candles, unauthorized guests, prostitution, and pets are not allowed on the premises. There is a "shoes-off" policy for the apt. Check in is 4pm, Check out is 10am.
