- english, french
I am an avid traveler, lover of cultures and cuisines. Life is a special gift, cherish every moment. I am always up to meeting new people or spending time with family and friends.
Why Richard chose 16th Arrondissement
We love this property that we renovated from top to bottom and brought its inside technology to the 21st century while keeping t he interior design and furnishings true to its history of 1825
What makes this House unique
Run all over Paris all day, enjoy the hustle and bustle from museums and attractions. And when you are all done, take the Tram from the Saint Germain area to this calm heaven to relax and unwind. You will only hear the birds chirping and the church bell. The fresh air from the century-old trees in the 3-acre acre park will rejuvenate your lungs and help you sleep deeper than you've ever have. The next morning, you will wake up full of energy and serenity, ready to go for another day of Parisian adventures and delicacies. Our Title Says "Paris-Versailles", NOT "Paris-Central". We have a Cadillac Car Service that takes you to Paris morning & night. We are located after Versailles. It is a 25-mn off-peak Drive or Rapid Tram ride from the Chateau to Paris (Place Victor Hugo or Gare Montparnasse). If this Chateau was inside Paris the nightly rate would have an extra zero :)
Canceled bookings will not receive a refund
We were traveling by train from Paris to Rambouillet one night and missed the station and ended up in Garazen, one station after Rambouillet, around mid night. There were no Uber, no taxi, and the police won't help, only Richard tried to make many calls, although without sucess. We really appreciated the help.
We were lucky that there was a gentleman just happened to be out and we approached him and explained the situation to him and he agreed to help.
Jill and Dr Sean,
We are glad you enjoyed the house and had a great time during your stay and your vacation with your family. You were wonderful guests who treated our house with care.
I am also glad I was able to immediately help and make those 20 calls to Taxis at midnight and to the Police to get you from Gazeran to Rambouillet at Midnight. It was great that the gentleman gave a ride to your 2 friends to the Rambouillet station to fetch your 2 rentals and come get you.
All in all a little scare but nothing like a little bit of “excitement” during your French vacation. Looking forward to hosting you again.
Enjoyable family holiday
This home provided a great space for 16 family members to come together just outside of Paris to gather and enjoy both some French countryside as well as have access to the city. The space was ample for our number and had all of the amenities we required. The younger members had enough space to run around and use the playground equipment and the adults had plenty of seating as well as kitchen facilities to make it enjoyable for all. Richard was responsive to any inquiry and whilst there was an issue or two (as expected with a large and historic home) it was quickly handled with minimal disruption. This is a wonderful place to have a larger gathering as long as you plan around the challenges with the lack of public transportation directly on your doorstep.
Retreat away from the City
We had a lovely time here. Richard was amazing at helping organize transportation and dinner reservations. He was available immediately when we had a storm causing a power outage and again when our pickup location in Paris needed to be changed. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Our Family Vacation
What an absolute delightful place . You felt like you stepping back in time. The little town is delightful and the countryside is beautiful. Thank you, Richard.
Joan and her family were wonderful guests. They loved the house and we could not ask for better guests to enjoy it. Thank you for your wonderful energy and kindness.
Best birthday ever
Lovely chateau, host was awesome, great communication. Manager Florence was so helpful and terrific.
oh yeah! great birthday party! we loved it that you had the best time with friends and family.
Dream spot for a dream family location!
What an incredible week! How lucky to stay in such an amazing estate, surrounded by ancient trees, an ivy-covered stone wall, and a tiny church in a town that boasts award-winning boulangeries, charcuteries, and fromageries! (The bakery near the carousel in town has won awards for the best croissants and baguettes -- they were so friendly and clearly love sharing their passion with excited tourists.) The home was actually much more than we expected, from the charming yellow Provencal kitchen to the newly updated, modern bathrooms to the crisp white sheets and linens . . . I lost track of how many bedrooms and bathrooms were in the house (ours was the "library") - but there were many more than our group of 12 could use. Three little cousins shared a room with a peaked ceiling on the third floor that was straight out of Mary Poppins. The outdoor playground is likewise amazing - great for the kids to run off steam! MAKE CERTAIN to take advantage of the services of Chef Laurent. He is charming and will basically give you an interactive cooking lesson at the same time he prepares your amazing dinner. Our dinner was a highlight of the week, for sure. One little tip: the train tickets into Paris are a bit tricky because of a number of different options, so plan to arrive on the first day at the Rambouillet station with plenty of time to wait in line at the window and ask questions to make sure you get the right pass. We bought day passes the first day (used the machine to quickly get on the next train - too excited to hop on the next train!), but the second day we took our time and waited in line, getting a great week pass for about 25 Euros each. For this option you should bring tiny photocopied pics from home to save yourself the expense of taking photos at the station (these are checked carefully in Paris - do NOT skip this step!). Once tickets are sorted out, the ride itself is on a very comfortable train that only takes 35 minutes, right into a central Paris stop. It is so wonderful to have such an idyllic outpost to escape from the bustling sites of the city at the end of the day. If you're looking for the perfect spot for a large group who wants to explore Paris and/or the French countryside and relax over breakfast and dinner, look no further! Richard is a perfect and attentive host, making sure everyone's needs are taken care of, including dinner reservations. Thanks to the entire team at Porte Dauphine for a once-in-a-lifetime vacance!
Jill and her family were fantastic guests. We loved helping them organize their trip and make arrangements for them, from transportation to restaurants. They enjoyed themselves in our home. 5-star guest!
