About the property

Two Bedroom, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 2-8) on Boulder Creek (rent with 1 or 2 bedrooms)

Our Canyon Retreat on Boulder Creek is located at the western edge of Boulder, 5 minutes from Pearl Street Mall and the University of Colorado, surrounded by Open Space. The Studio has its own private entrance through an arbor from the ample parking area. And it's just 30 minutes from Eldora Mountain Ski Resort!

**Note, the price listed by VRBO is for ONE bedroom. The second upstairs bedroom can be rented, if needed, by letting the owner know when emailing. The additional fee varies by season and length of stay.

The first floor has a small kitchen, bathroom with shower, dining area and living room. There are two pull-out sofa beds for 2-4 extra guests. The entertainment center has a Blueray DVD player, ROKU for access to Netflix, or Amazon for movies, TV series, as well as Pandora for your choice in music. There is also high-speed wireless internet access for your laptops. French doors open on to your large private deck overlooking the creek, with tables, chairs and a gas barbecue.

On the second floor a wall of glass affords a fabulous view of the creek and canyon walls. There is a queen bed and also a futon -- perfect for children who might not want to stay down stairs. There is also a second bathroom with shower and a large closet.

We have added an optional second 'attic' bedroom, with 3 skylights, adjacent to the upstairs bedroom. It is optional and is renting for an additional $75-100 a night depending on the season. It has a queen bed and a sectional. Sleeps 2 - 4. Please arrange this additional rental through the owner. Or if you use 'Book It Now,' send your reservation through with one bedroom and we will upgrade it to 2 and send back to you for payment.

The large deck is fenced and gated for your dogs. There is a mulched 'potty place' and water bowls just for them. For more exercise, you can take them for a Bike Path walk or hike the trails.

The Boulder Bike Path just beyond your front door offers miles of trails for biking and running (3 bikes, helmets and locks are available for your use), Settlers' Park, Flagstaff Mountain and Chautauqua trailheads are all near, and Boulder Canyon Drive leads to the Indian Peaks Wilderness, Eldora Mountain Ski Resort and Rocky Mountain National Park.

And for the fishermen, there is trout fishing from the deck or walk over the bridge and fish trout from Boulder Creek!!

Or -- just relax on the deck with a glass of wine and watch the creek flow by -- with an occasional kayak in Spring. If you are a winter visitor, it is a bit like being in an ice castle, with the creek running between small ice cliffs. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing opportunities are close by, and you are only about 19 miles from Eldora Mountain -- home of the CU National Championship ski team.

We look forward to sharing this truly unique setting with you!

Keywords: Two-story artist's retreat with breathtaking views, right on Boulder Creek yet just steps from the Bike Path. Less than a mile to Pearl Street's restaurants and shops, you'll feel invitingly secluded, surrounded by water and Boulder Canyon's pine-covered mountains. And just 30 minutes to Eldora Ski Resort!

About Dorothy Tucker

Our family of 6 began in Pasadena CA but careers in marketing and arts management took us to Old Greenwich CT and NYC. For college, two of our children, Craig and Katie chose CU. We all fell in love with Boulder! While visiting them one weekend, Charlie and I took our dogs for a walk up the Bike Path and paused on the old creek bridge. There we saw an old house on a pond, surrounded by water and, lo and behold, a 'for sale' sign! And, of course we bought it right then and there! Architectural design had been an avocation of ours for many years, so as soon as possible, NYC was in our rear view mirror and Tucker Design Associates, as well as Tucker Walker Group Real Estate were born in Boulder! Our children are grown now and have families of their own, so we don't need the Studio space year around and are very happy to share it with you!

Dorothy Tucker purchased this guest house in 1990

Why Dorothy Tucker chose Front Range Colorado

The property feels remote, far from civilization - surrounded by water, pines, cottonwoods and ever-changing patterns of light on the canyon walls, yet it is five minutes from shopping, world class restaurants, the CU campus, Chautauqua concerts in the summer and skiing Eldora in the Winter!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for working with us! Your studio is even better than we thought. The pictures online didn't do it justice :) if we are in Boudler again we will definitely consider another shoot there or staying the night. You may have an untapped market for photographers like us. The lighting and modern decor is beautiful. I wish we could have shot in every room! We'll send some pics soon. Your studio is be perfect for families, bridal boudoir, babies, and outdoors. Thank you again!

We could live here

  • 5 of 5

The other reviews are correct, it's pretty magical, serene (even though it's close to the highway), but the drone of the running creek relaxes you as you approach and the simplicity yet elegance of the interior takes over. Three nights flew by so quickly, we deeply regretted not staying longer. My only criticism, I noticed has now been addressed, on the wording of the pricing for the one vs two bedroom cost, so thank you, Dorothy, as that was not stated clearly before. The smallest of details for your stay have been addressed from robes to general information to TV listing/instructions to historical info. Pride of ownership is apparent. We walked into town, rather than drive, took Uber back ($7-11), walked one night,. You need to take a flashlight but luckily we brought headlights so we didn't need to carry anything and, yes, it was cold! Walked to Spruce Confections for wonderful scones in the mornings - a must! Now, we need to figure out a way to return to experience each season.

Wow!!

  • 5 of 5

Aptly named, this artist studio intimately embraces all the natural beauty surrounding it: creek, canyon walls and star and moon at night. That attribute was advertised and it met (and exceeded) expectations. What further enhanced our stay was the owner's attention to detail. Everything you might need was there from a kitchen (utensils galore), or a deck (several vistas with grille, adirondack chairs, and outdoor dining table) or bedroom (lighting, art work, ski lights, colors). This is a serene retreat within walking distance of downtown Boulder. Wow!

Our stay at the studio was great! We traveled to Boulder to be near friends and to ski, this stay was perfect. The location of the studio was also amazing!

Great location, Beautiful setting, Wonderful home, attentive owners

  • 5 of 5

We arrived as 20+ inches of snow was falling in Boulder and the Tuckers were outside shoveling the walk to The Studio and the next morning had called in reinforcements to re-shovel and make sure the driveway way was cleared so we could get in and out. Dorothy was very accessible by text, answering any inquiries I had throughout the week and making recommendations. The Studio was clean, warm and well equipped with very comfortable bedding, towels and robes. The kitchen is small but stocked, including Keurig cups, Mineral water, and Brita filter for tap water and condiments in the fridge. I was able to cook breakfast and a few dinners for 7 people throughout the week. Other than very attentive owners, the best thing about The Studio was the location. The view was beautiful, birds and wildlife abound near the creek, bike/running trail is right there and it's only about 6 minutes from the heart of Boulder. (if you like mexican food, eat at El Centro, also we loved The Buff and Pasta Jays. Skip The Sink) We rented ski gear from Christy's and skied Eldora Mountain, happy with both. We will definitely stay here again should we return to Boulder

A Cozy New Years

  • 5 of 5

The four of us had such a wonderful stay at this home. From the warm welcome and twinkling lights on the front deck to the comfy open layout and outdoor fire pit, it was the perfect retreat to visit with family from out of town. It couldn't be more convenient to downtown Boulder (5 mins drive) while also feeling immersed in nature. A paved bike/walk trail is literally steps from the front porch so being able to walk straight to town was definitely a plus. We were also able to grill out and build a fire and sit by the frozen creek outside. Although there is an additional attic room available, we (two couples) were quite comfortable with the pullout sofa/bathroom downstairs and the gorgeous master bedroom upstairs (what a view in the morning!). The separate drive and deck entry made the whole experience feel completely comfortable and private, and Dorothy was so kind and hospitable in coordinating our visit. We also loved the little extras like being able to play music through the Roku, cozy bathrobes, and bottled sparkling water - the little touches really made it homey! And we very much appreciated the owners beautiful art on the walls. We would all highly encourage anyone to stay at this lovely home and hope to be back sometime ourselves!
