Overview

About the property

Two Bedroom, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 2-8) on Boulder Creek (rent with 1 or 2 bedrooms)

Our Canyon Retreat on Boulder Creek is located at the western edge of Boulder, 5 minutes from Pearl Street Mall and the University of Colorado, surrounded by Open Space. The Studio has its own private entrance through an arbor from the ample parking area. And it's just 30 minutes from Eldora Mountain Ski Resort!

**Note, the price listed by VRBO is for ONE bedroom. The second upstairs bedroom can be rented, if needed, by letting the owner know when emailing. The additional fee varies by season and length of stay.

The first floor has a small kitchen, bathroom with shower, dining area and living room. There are two pull-out sofa beds for 2-4 extra guests. The entertainment center has a Blueray DVD player, ROKU for access to Netflix, or Amazon for movies, TV series, as well as Pandora for your choice in music. There is also high-speed wireless internet access for your laptops. French doors open on to your large private deck overlooking the creek, with tables, chairs and a gas barbecue.

On the second floor a wall of glass affords a fabulous view of the creek and canyon walls. There is a queen bed and also a futon -- perfect for children who might not want to stay down stairs. There is also a second bathroom with shower and a large closet.

We have added an optional second 'attic' bedroom, with 3 skylights, adjacent to the upstairs bedroom. It is optional and is renting for an additional $75-100 a night depending on the season. It has a queen bed and a sectional. Sleeps 2 - 4. Please arrange this additional rental through the owner. Or if you use 'Book It Now,' send your reservation through with one bedroom and we will upgrade it to 2 and send back to you for payment.

The large deck is fenced and gated for your dogs. There is a mulched 'potty place' and water bowls just for them. For more exercise, you can take them for a Bike Path walk or hike the trails.

The Boulder Bike Path just beyond your front door offers miles of trails for biking and running (3 bikes, helmets and locks are available for your use), Settlers' Park, Flagstaff Mountain and Chautauqua trailheads are all near, and Boulder Canyon Drive leads to the Indian Peaks Wilderness, Eldora Mountain Ski Resort and Rocky Mountain National Park.

And for the fishermen, there is trout fishing from the deck or walk over the bridge and fish trout from Boulder Creek!!

Or -- just relax on the deck with a glass of wine and watch the creek flow by -- with an occasional kayak in Spring. If you are a winter visitor, it is a bit like being in an ice castle, with the creek running between small ice cliffs. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing opportunities are close by, and you are only about 19 miles from Eldora Mountain -- home of the CU National Championship ski team.

We look forward to sharing this truly unique setting with you!

Keywords: Two-story artist's retreat with breathtaking views, right on Boulder Creek yet just steps from the Bike Path. Less than a mile to Pearl Street's restaurants and shops, you'll feel invitingly secluded, surrounded by water and Boulder Canyon's pine-covered mountains. And just 30 minutes to Eldora Ski Resort!

About Dorothy Tucker

Our family of 6 began in Pasadena CA but careers in marketing and arts management took us to Old Greenwich CT and NYC. For college, two of our children, Craig and Katie chose CU. We all fell in love with Boulder! While visiting them one weekend, Charlie and I took our dogs for a walk up the Bike Path and paused on the old creek bridge. There we saw an old house on a pond, surrounded by water and, lo and behold, a 'for sale' sign! And, of course we bought it right then and there! Architectural design had been an avocation of ours for many years, so as soon as possible, NYC was in our rear view mirror and Tucker Design Associates, as well as Tucker Walker Group Real Estate were born in Boulder! Our children are grown now and have families of their own, so we don't need the Studio space year around and are very happy to share it with you!

Dorothy Tucker purchased this guest house in 1990

Why Dorothy Tucker chose Front Range Colorado

The property feels remote, far from civilization - surrounded by water, pines, cottonwoods and ever-changing patterns of light on the canyon walls, yet it is five minutes from shopping, world class restaurants, the CU campus, Chautauqua concerts in the summer and skiing Eldora in the Winter!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for working with us! Your studio is even better than we thought. The pictures online didn't do it justice :) if we are in Boudler again we will definitely consider another shoot there or staying the night. You may have an untapped market for photographers like us. The lighting and modern decor is beautiful. I wish we could have shot in every room! We'll send some pics soon. Your studio is be perfect for families, bridal boudoir, babies, and outdoors. Thank you again!

The most amazing place ever!

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough good things about the artist's retreat! The location on the creek in the Canyon is unbeatable, it's calming and beautiful yet you can walk into downtown easily. The photos of the retreat itself do not do it enough justice, it's absolutely gorgeous and waking up to the view and sound of the creek is heaven. Dorothy & Charlie are lovely hosts and we can't wait to return!

If the retreat is available stop looking and just book it... unless it's a date I'm looking for....

The pictures don't do this place justice, and the pictures here are amazing. Pure bliss.

  • 5 of 5

This place is simply amazing. The accommodations are lovely. Each room is lovely and the total interior vibe is so comforting. The location, right on Boulder Creek with hiking options and the best of what nature has to offer is amazing. Words can't capture the nuances of watching the sun come up or go down on the walls of Boulder Canyon. The creek rocks you to sleep every night. The owners are sweet folks and take great care of you.

If you are coming to the Boulder area and want to be ensconced in nature, and yet be 10 minutes from Boulder proper, this is your place. Run, don't walk, to make your reservations here.

Exceptional stay at Artist's Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

I would give our stay at Artist's Retreat a resounding 5 stars all around. Dorothy was a gracious host, both in responding to us in a quick and complete manner as well as the accommodations she afforded through the Studio. It was an extra nice touch for her to greet us upon arrival and ensure that we were settled in comfortably.

I can't say enough good things about the studio itself. Clean, well stocked, comfortable and the location is superb! Sleeping to the roar of Boulder Creek every night was addictive, as was my cup of tea by the river every morning. Beautiful and serene are the perfect adjectives.

Its location is perfect - just a short distance outside of main Boulder, but on a greenway that follows the creek into town. A great walk to experience the vibe of downtown Boulder. Secluded, but close.

We'll definitely be coming back!

Best place ever!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place in every way for two couples. Felt secluded but the location is actually super convenient to anything and everything you want to do in Boulder. Clean, cool artistic space right on Boulder Creek. It had everything we could have wanted or needed. It was seriously hard to leave .Wonderful, attentive hosts who were available but respected privacy. We cannot wait to go back.

Wow! Couldn't ask for anything more!

  • 5 of 5

Let me start by saying that I have already had four different friends who have asked for information on this property after seeing our pictures. So, if you are thinking of renting, do it quickly because it is in high demand! This is an amazing property in the best location you could find. We stayed here with our family over Spring Break, with four kids of all different ages. Everyone was giddy with excitement and wonder the entire trip. There was so much to do, from fishing right off the beach, to walking to Pearl Street to shop and eat. The walk along the bike path was beautiful and easy, with so much to look at along the way. We felt like we had the best of both worlds staying at this property. Beautiful weather in which to enjoy the town, and close proximity to ski resorts. We went to Eldora one day and enjoyed a wonderful day of skiing. We also spent a day at Rocky Mountain National Park, where the kids were able to go sledding. This was one of their favorite activities! We could not believe how friendly everyone in Boulder was! We are from the south, and couldn't help but be amazed at the generosity and kindness of everyone we encountered. Boulder has so many INCREDIBLE restaurants, bars, and shops. It truly is the coolest town. The owners were very accommodating and perfect hosts. When not out and about, we loved relaxing in the studio and on the deck. We really appreciated the Keurig, stocked with different coffee and teas. The way the studio is decorated reminds you of a mountain spa. So relaxing! This place is a little slice of heaven and made us fall in love with Boulder. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful place for a sisters weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful stay! The location is fantastic - we took the walking/bike path just outside the studio to and from Pearl Street...about a 30 min walk. The studio itself is wonderful - cozy downstairs and the well-stocked Keurig was appreciated. The beds were comfortable and everything was neat and clean. We loved sitting in the Adirondack chairs by the creek - very relaxing! We are going to bookmark this place to hopefully return to in the future!
