This traditional cottage was one of the first built on Channel Lane in the 1930's and overlooks the channel that connects Lake Michigan to Pentwater Lake. This cottage has the best location in town. It is 5 minutes from the beach and five minutes from town. You can sit in the front and watch the boats come in and out of the channel. This cottage has been in the same family since it was built in 1934. It was structurally updated in the late 80's with the second floor addition added in the 90's.
I am a middle school principal living in Boca Raton, Florida. I have spent a portion of every summer of my life in Pentwater and have many happy family memories. Some of our neighbors have been our friends since birth. Our family has a long history in Pentwater. My great grandfather ran the ice and coal business in the early 1900's. My grandmother was one of seven children and she grew up in Pentwater. My parents retired in the late 80's and spent their summers in Pentwater. Sadly, my mother passed away in February and we are hoping to keep the cottage in our family. I am one of four children. We all love Pentwater and do not want to sever our connections. My sister and brother both own their own cottages in Pentwater.
Ann Haynes purchased this cottage in 1934
This cottage was built by my grandparents in 1934 and has stayed in our family for two generations. After my mother's passing last April, we decided to rent to cover some of our expenses since we are unable to be in Pentwater all summer. This home has great sentimental value to our family and we hope that renters will treat it as their own.
Pentwater is the perfect location to completely unwind and relax. This cottage has a mixture of charm plus convenience with the perfect location close to town and the beach.
Because this is a family home, there are some personal items not usually available in a rental unit. It also has plenty of living space so it is perfect for two families to share. You will love sitting in the front yard with a glass of wine, watching the boat traffic in and out of the channel.
Pentwater is a historic, quaint town on the shores of Lake Michigan that has artist studios, marinas, shops, and reasonably priced golf courses. There are also many restaurants and bars to enjoy. The beautiful sandy beach is the highlight for most visitors. Pentwater is quiet enough to allow children to explore on their own. Charter boats regularly catch their limit of salmon in Lake Michigan. Farmers bring produce to a Green Market twice each week and the weekly band concerts pulls in most of the summer residents to the Village Green every Thursday night. The annual Homecoming Festival brings in visitors from August 13 - 17, 2015. An annual 'Back from the Mac' party, hosted by the Pentwater Yacht Club, welcomes residents and sailors as they make their return to Chicago after completing the Chicago Mackinaw sailboat race. Children can take sailing lessons from members of the Yacht Club. The SS Badger Car Ferry from Wisconsin arrives in Ludington, just 10 miles away. One of the top golf courses in the country, Arcadia Bluff, is a reasonable drive through scenic cherry orchards.
