About The Delaney Family

We are from a large ski family and have skied for many years at Burke Mountain (since the early 1970's). We have an extended family who enjoy Burkie's Drop and ski there every year. We have a number of Burke Mountain Jr. Racers who have gone through the program and are still avid skiers at Burke. Recently we have been taking on Mountain biking and wanted to share our love for Burke Mountain and East Burke with you!!!

The Delaney Family purchased this house in 2003

Why The Delaney Family chose Burke

Its a fantastic location, with a downhill ski & ride in as well as a downhill ski & ride out. We have awesome neighbors and just love the mountain!

What makes this house unique

Our ski/bike lodge is unique in that it is built into the side of Burke Mountain and from the outside does not look like a terribly large home, however, when you are inside you find that the home never ends. There are 5 levels of living space with 5 full bedrooms and 2 large bunkrooms. The house is well set up so that kids can stay down on one end of the home (the Jungle) and Mom's & Dad's can hang out in the other end of the house away from all the hub-bub. A must see!!!

Amazing Views & Bike Trails

  • 4 of 5

Thank you Pete, and your family, for sharing your house with us. We had a great time! Your house is perfectly located and close to everything. It's in the heart of the action. We were 13 and everyone had more than enough space. We rode the trails on the first day and hiked up the mountain on the second day. Wow! The view is amazing! The people working in the bike shops where we rented our bikes were super nice and helpful. I loved my weekend and look forward to coming back again, with my own mountain bike!

Excellent Accomodations on the Mountain !

  • 5 of 5

We stayed Thursday thru Sunday. We chose this house because of the number of rooms and location on the mountain. We had 11 guys stay and there were no more than 2 guys/room. Everyone had enough space to spread out and relax. The dining room table sat 8 comfortably but we were able to squeeze in our 11 for dinner ... no problem. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, etc. for cooking if that's your pleasure (we ate "in" every meal) ... and there was a whole cabinet filled with spices.

We had a great fire outside in the fire bowl and there was plenty of dry wood.

The only improvements to the house that could be made is a flat-screen TV for the living room and internet service. Quite frankly though, we were so gassed from biking nobody really cared about the TV situation. The cell service at the house was spotty.

As for location on the mountain, it was perfect ! We were able to bike from the house down "Roly Grail" to the lifts and bike to the house for lunch each day we biked Burke. It was great not having to drive cars when we biked Burke !!

We will definitely return to this very reasonable priced property and easy to work with owner.

The owner requires the renters to keep bikes out of the house at all times. Again, this was not a problem either, as the house is so remote (high up on the mountain) that there's no problem leaving them outside. There was even a hose out back that we used to wash our bikes off.

We enjoyed great views as well ... an added bonus !

Owner's Response: Thanks Mike for your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed your time at Burke! Your suggestions are right on target as we are talking with Charter to get them to run cable down our end of Alpine Lane for Internet and cable TV while they take care of the new hotel. A new TV is in the works as well. We think alike! Thx again Pete

Just what we needed

  • 4 of 5

This is a huge, well maintained place halfway up Burke mountain. We all had our sleeping space. All the amenities -- including an outdoor fire pit, charcoal grill and a comfy wood stove. A very welcome, quiet place after wonderful days of mountain biking at Kingdom Trails. The Delaneys were very responsive and communicative throughout the rental process. Highly recommend

Excellent. Very unique property!

  • 5 of 5

The 6 of us had a great time. Dealing with the owner was easy and efficient. Our communication prior to arrival made me confident it would be the right choice for us. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Location on the mountain was a serious bonus! The process from booking to departure was as good as it gets.

Car: recommended

Located on Burke Mountain on Alpine Lane, the home of Burke Mountain Academy. We are located between the upper and lower lifts/lodges with a downhill ski&ride in and ski&ride out. Be sure to visit the fire tower on the top of the mountain after riding or driving up to the top. Another great catch is Lake Willoughby, the deepest lake fully contained in the state of Vermont!
