Located in a Gated Community of nineteen high end luxury homes. Fully air conditioned and private, the Sunset Beachfront Villa is paradise!
The location in convenient to all the North Shore attractions. The bicycle/ walking trail starts just south of our property and is beautiful with trees shading most of the trail. you are off the highway and it is a fun way to travel around the best beaches and fun spots on the North Shore. First stop is picturesque Sunset Beach a great place to spend time in the water swimming, snorkeling or boogie boarding Next down the beach is the famous surf spot Pipeline. If the swell is up you can see famous surfers ride these fantastic waves (expert only). Next stop is Sharks Cove, one of the best snorkel spots on the island. The beginners can be in the shallow areas and more advanced can go into deeper waters. Next stop on the left side of the street are many fun eating establishments and a grocery store that has everything. Further down is spectacular Three Tables Beach. Excellent snorkeling when the water is calm. Go at high tide for the best experience. This is a great place to spot turtles. Farther down. The truly daring can jump off the rocks at the southern end into the clear blue sea. This bay has turtles and good snorkeling right off the beach.
By car, there is much to do on the North Shore. Going north on King Kamehameha highway, stop at the Turtle Bay Resort. The best time is cocktail hour when the sun is setting. You can eat on the outdoor patio and there is usually entertainment, Hawaiian style. Want to explore amazing forest trails on mountain bikes? You can rent the mountain bikes with huge tires that are made for the sand. There are miles of beautiful trails to explore, plus tennis, snorkeling, golf, shopping and fine dining at four restaurants. Going north, past Turtle Bay, the Zip Line is fabulous and there is only one here on the island. It is very safe and they even teach you how to zip line upside down (if you want to). Take your camera! Farther down the road are all the famous Shrimp Trucks, with fresh shrimp grown right in this area. There are many beautiful beaches and sites to see on your way to the Macadamia Nut Farm, then past that the Kualoa Ranch, the most beautiful ranch on Oahu and where they filmed Jurrasic Park.
Going South on "Kam" Highway, past Waimea Bay, the first stop on the list is Turtle Beach. Here you can see large sea turtles on the beach. They all have names. Here you learn about the turtles. Next stop Haleiwa town! Here you can learn to surf, rent a stand up paddle board and float down a beautiful river (where you always see turtles), and If you like to shop, this is the place for fun Hawaiian clothes. There are some excellent restaurants too! My favorite is Haleiwa Joe's. Sit on the patio overlooking the Marina in Haleiwa. Our Sunset Beachfront Villa in Gated Sunset Colony is the most beautiful home in the absolutely best area of North Shore Oahu.
We love the North Shore and all the activities. This is the ultimate location for enjoying surfing, snorkeling, hiking or walking down the beach for miles in either direction. There are no crowds on the beach and wildlife is plentiful. We are so happy to share our love of the area and this beautiful home with our guests. Whether you want to enjoy fine dining and entertainment or enjoy the country and Zip Line, or hike a mountain or ride horses, or walk beautiful trails, it is all here
Chris M. purchased this house in 2013
This home is on a gorgeous beach and there is always people surfing or snorkeling or paddle boarding. We never get tired of the view. We can walk to breakfast, bike ride to lunch and take the car for a 10 minute drive to one of the best restaurants on the island. We also love to cook here and watch the surf. We are in a gated community of only 19 homes, so the area is peaceful and quiet. This home also has a huge front and back yard and sits on one third of an acre, most of it lush grass. It doesn't get better than this.
Beachfront, great snorkeling nearby, surfing right out the back door when the swell is up, easy to get to all the fun places, outstanding sunset views, sit on the beach in beach chairs. Wide open great room with 30' wall of glass opens up for spectacular scenery. All three bedrooms have ocean views. Huge private yard!
From the very start with all of our questions regarding the house and things to do in the area, to Chris staying in touch with us prior to our stay, during our stay and upon leaving, the communication was outstanding and prompt! The house is everything and more than pictured and detailed. Chris let us know the day of our arrival (which was a Sunday) that one of the air conditioners was broken but a repair man was coming on Monday. We didn't really need it anyway, as it was the bedrooms air conditioner and we weren't in these rooms until night when it cooled off. EVERYONE, from the repairman, to the cleaning lady we bumped into on Sunday when we arrived to the cleaning crew we saw on our way out was SUPER nice and friendly. We visited the North Shore 2 years ago and it has definitely grown. We love this side of the island. We rented bikes for 2 days and rode the bike path that rides along the beach/rode to the beaches along the North Shore. Some parts of the day, you can actually travel faster on bike than car. Anyone visiting Oahu for the first time needs to make sure they take a day trip (or 2) to the East side as well. There's never enough time when visiting Hawaii. Make sure you plan as long of a stay as possible. We stayed 2 nights at a resort and 7 nights at this amazing house and it wasn't enough! Could have used 2 more full days.
We have rented many beautiful homes on spectacular beaches with the family we traveled with on this vacation, but this house produced the biggest "wow" upon entering the front door. The focal point is a wall of sliding floor to ceiling glass doors that opens from the kitchen/living area onto a partially covered deck that looks over a grass yard to the beach. We felt that this house must have the absolute best view of the sunset, as it seemed to be framed perfectly between the palms every evening. Leaving the sliding doors open throughout the day made the kitchen/living area seem especially large as the deck with dining table and very comfortable outdoor seating was included, and the island breezes blowing through the house were just wonderful, and better than turning on the A/C. Chris was incredibly hospitable, and we were especially appreciative that she had provided us with brand new beach chairs, and access to borrow boogie boards and snorkeling gear. The house is beautifully appointed, including everything we needed to cook and grill, and features photography and paintings of local scenes produced by Greg, a very talented artist. We loved our vacation in this lovely home and hope to return!
This was a perfect 5 star getaway spot! Live and relax like a movie star for the duration of your stay.
The house is located in a private, gated community right on the beach providing amazing views of crashing blue waves and brilliant sunrises and sunsets. Its secluded location is perfect to escape from the pressures of everyday life. The amenities all promote relaxation - from the large hot tub on the deck overlooking the ocean to the comfortable recliner chairs on the patio perfect for napping. The house is open and airy with a modern, minimalist feel that highlights the North Shore beach lifestyle. The layout is ideal for entertaining and we were able to enjoy many lovely family meals on the outdoor patio. There are plentiful opportunities for beach walking, snorkeling, surfing, and biking and the house is a perfect launching point for all of them. Truly a special place! Chris and Greg both are as special as their incredible dream home. I already envy the next guests who will experience this piece of paradise.
I am counting the days until I am back!
You walk out of the home and you are on your own semiprivate beach. It is one of the better surfing spots in Hawaii, and is completely uncrowded. The living room has an accordion glass and when open there is just no wall. You have an out door view that is remarkable. The bedrooms are all light and airy. The kitchen and great room are spectacular. It has a great laundry area and every think just seem like home. If you want an our door jacuzzi, it sets under palm trees and has a stunning ocean view. This home is in a gated high class community of about ten homes. If you are looking for a high end vacation, book this home
We had the most wonderful stay in a beautiful "home" with a comfortable feel in a secure private location (Sunset Colony). Five separate sleeping rooms and 3 full bathrooms provided more than adequate quarters.
The social area was a "great" room; you can prepare meals and beverage, and entertain and lounge in a common area; then step on to the lanai for breakfast lunch and dinner on a deck overlooking the Pacific; we watched the sun set and the moon rise every evening.
Rent a bike and ride the bike path parallel to the highway down the coast passing Sunset Beach, Pipeline and Waimea; stop at Teds Place for local cuisine. Be sure to watch "Blue Crush" (Red Box), a fun surfing movie filmed in this area of the North Shore. Snorkling gear is ; there are many places to stop and view underwater/marine life.
Leave the Colony and about a mile east is Turtle Bay the one and only (beautiful) world class resort that offers adventure tours, snorkeling and fine dining. Head west out of the Colony and you'll pass famous surfing locations (Pipeline, Sunset and Waimea), beautiful Waimea Canyon and continue to the quaint old town feel of Haleiwa for shopping, food and beverage.
Definitely look forward to another visit. Book this...live like a local (comfortably).
Situated in a beautiful enclave of peace and tranquility, my stay at this home was one of the most restful and relaxing that I have had in a long time. The home is spacious with an open floor plan design and beautifully decorated and nicely appointed. It has everything one would need. The bedrooms overlook the ocean, so going to sleep and waking up to the gentle sounds of rolling waves was very soothing. The home is nicely situated with views and access to the most beautiful white sand beach on the North Shore where one could walk for miles or jump in for a quick swim. An easy access bike path is very close. Within walking distance is a very cute local bakery, Ted’s Bakery, where one could get breakfast or lunch with the most amazing pies! The home is a perfect location for North Shore adventures such as Waimea Falls hike, horseback riding, and surfing; and of course lots of good shopping nearby. Then a wonderful way to end the day is to have a drink on the spacious deck, either on the cozy outdoor living furniture or in the Jacuzzi, both of which overlook the ocean and rolling waves. I would highly recommend this property as a lovely place to stay and connect with the Hawaiian life.
This beautiful contemporary home is located in Sunset Colony, a gated community of 19 exclusive homes. This home is on the sand and has a half acre of green lawn..There are three or four surf breaks when the swell is up, Velzyland and Freddies are the most popular, we are .5 miles from Sunset Beach and .2 miles to Ted's Bakery, who are famous for their Chockolate Cream Pies. We are 2 miles south of Turtle Bay Resort for fine dining, entertainment and activites, including surfing lessons, tennis, golfing on dirt biking, hiking, helicopter tours, stand up paddle boarding, snorkeling, Segway training and tours (personal stand up transportation), Arnold Palmer and Fazio Golf Courses. Within 5 miles is horseback riding, hiking, dozen of white sand beaches, zip lining, surfing, snorkeling, diving, bike riding, mountain bike and motor cross, skate board park, kite sailing, many eating establishments. 7.5 miles away is Haleiwa with many restaurants and shopping.Beyond that 3 miles is a glider airport with sky diving and glider flight. and more outstanding beaches, hiking and
mountain biking. 11 miles to the north is the Polynesian Cultural Center with restaurants and entertainment, Hawaiian style.
