The main impression of the house was formed when we opened the door. The entire house smelled of smoke and mustiness. Even the courtyard smelled like smoke - there were five ashtrays out there. The listing said no smoking inside but someone, possibly the owner, has definitely been smoking inside. We even found an open pack of cigarettes in one of the kitchen drawers. In addition to the smell, the place just wasn't clean. All of the tables, etc. had a layer of dust on them and all shelves, drawers, looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a long time.
In addition to the smell and lack of cleaning, the house had some very inconvenient features. There was only one closet upstairs, in one of the smaller bedrooms. The master closet was locked. Both upstairs bathrooms had glass doors - in the master bedroom the toilet was right by the glass doors, which opened into the sink area. The jack and jill bathroom had one door that wasn't covered, so you could look from one room into the bathroom and vice versa. Just a small thing but important in a rental - most surfaces - tables and dressers - had things on them (knick-knacks), so there wasn't much room to put your stuff.
The house accommodated six people, yet there was one small love seat and one chair in the living room (also a desk with one chair). We were there for a family wedding, so had envisioned being able to assemble in the house, but that didn't happen. Fortunately my sister was staying in a motel close by, so we spent most of our time there. We spent as little time as possible in the house, due to the smelly, dirty, dark interior. Even the courtyard was smelly, dark, unkempt and depressing.
Very cozy townhome that is close to everything in Seabrook without being in the middle of anything. The location is just off Nasa Rd 1 down a residential street which is very quite.
We rented this place for the weekend as we had a wedding to attend in Kemah. It was a very comfortable house and the owner was very accommodating. When we arrived, he had the A/C on and coffee waiting for us. It was very clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. The little atrium was a great place to have coffee in the morning. After we left, my daughter realized she left her computer charger there. She telephoned the owner and he very graciously mailed the charger to her. Great place to stay and it is very close to all of the area's attractions. I would recommend staying here. Great value!
This property worked for us but could have been much more enjoyable. We rent vrbo because we have a 6 person family and it is usually more comfortable and affordable than a hotel plus we have a kitchen to use for some meals.
We found the kitchen seriously lacking in utensils and cooking pans. There were odd things in the drawers like tools. The kitchen itself was pretty nice but it took two to three times cooking eggs in the tiny frying pan to get enough for 6!
The other thing was the smell, it smelled musty and possibly a little smoky. It could also use a deep clean. It was dusty.
The last thing as parents of young children we found concerning was that there was porn in the house. It was in a cupboard in the master bedroom but one of the covers was in our boys (age10) and had pictures on it. I am sure most would not find this concerning but it is something we are not ok with and don't want our kids exposed to. Thankfully my husband found it before they did.
One last thing is that we made the reservations in advance and when we showed up the owner didn't know we were coming. I tried texting the mobile number but got no response. He said he doesn't text. He happened to be there changing out the linens.
Easy booking. Fast check-in even though the first telephone number was not a working one. Richard allowed early check-in, and was very pleasant to speak with. He truly wanted everyone to enjoy their stay in this Charming attached town home. However, this place really needs some TLC. The place smells like old cigarette smoke, and there are many burns, especially in the bathrooms. The carpet is threadbare and the towels are so old they really need to be replaced. When my daughter sat on the edge of a bed, the mattress fell off the frame. The bedrooms are small, but still big enough for 2 guests in each room. Really not enough room for 6 people in the living area. All rooms were arranged nicely, and for the price, this is an OK place to stay for a few nights. One would definitely not want to spend much time inside. We didn't cook here, but the table was arranged nicely and there were the required dishes and other kitchen items. No Wi-Fi.
Bottom line: would I rent this place again...NO. But if you only want to sleep and don't care about quality, then this place is ok. With some upgrades, this home would be gorgeous.
