We rented this propert for a few days so we could have a few days to spend with our college aged god daughter and her friend. It was clean and pretty and welcoming. It was close to grocery and restaurants. All our needs were provided for and they made it easy to clean up. The grill wasn't very clean so we didn't use that, but the big deck and kayaks were a hit! We would do this again!
We enjoyed our stay here. It is tucked back in a nice cove and is 10 minute drive to the main part of town. We had a large group so having 3 full bathrooms (+1 half) was perfect.
Thanks for a wonderful stay! Very clean and plenty of room for all 9 of us! Had games for the kids to play and plenty of room for them to run around. Had fun swimming in the lake and renting a boat for the weekend! Only negative was when you have to leave you have yo take the trash 5 miles away. Overall great stay!
Our family really enjoyed this property. It's right on the water in a quieter area of the lake. There's a marina just down the road that offers boat and jet ski rentals in addition to the two kayaks available at the house. There's was plenty of room for everyone in the house and the decks and dock were also very spacious. We definitely recommend this property!
Overall a great trip with a great location that is close to a grocery store, cvs, great pizza shop and movie theater. House was clean and well stocked with kitchen items. Ant traps and spray were placed throughout the kitchen area which helped to control them. The entire house is set to 72 degrees and can not be lowered. With that degrees, it was a little warm upstairs when the temp hit over 90.
Smith Mountain Lake is beautiful and the setting for this 3-story unit in a 4-plex was located on a quiet finger of the lake a 15-20 minute ride from the main lake, but only 10 minutes to a few restaurants, shops, a grocery store and attractions. The unit is well appointed with a few exceptions. We had 6 adults which made the living/dining combo area a bit cozy. We loved the decks but they could not comfortably hold 6 adults on any of the three levels. We did barbecue and that was great but we 6 could not eat outside. The large lakeside boat dock was wonderful, but the unit has minimal furniture and its a long staircase down to carry a lot. The kayaks are wonderful and conveniently located on the boat dock for easy launching. There was wildlife to view daily: geese, deer, egrets, hawks, vultures, fish, turtles...
The unit was adequately clean, but the ants mentioned in another review were still a problem on the lowest level. We signed up for the sheet and towel package (no room in our cars for all that) and they provided an adequate amount. I was surprised we had to remove them ourselves before leaving considering we 1.) paid the linens premium and 2.) we paid for check-out cleaning. All appliance worked well and having a washer/dryer was very convenient.
Don't miss the National D-Day Memorial, renting a Pontoon boat on the Lake, Smith Mountain Community Park, historic Bedford and a tour of the Alpaca Farm. As you check out to head home, fill up at "Dock It" for a hometown breakfast on their deck, right on the lake. Give it a try!
